I'm actually gonna be Hilah Cutting, and we're gonna do a little test to see how to hull strawberries the best way.

Adverbs of degree

I've got four methods here that we're gonna try out, and just to get extra dorky, extra boring, and extra kind of embarrassing,

We're gonna weigh the berries before and after, and then we'll find out which method reserves the most berry fruit.

The first one is how I learned how to do it when I was a kid.

So you get a little knife, and you just kind of cut a, oh wait, I forgot my whole strategy.

One that way, one that way, pop it off, not bad, now it weighs 21 grams.

Okay, loss of one gram with the paring knife method.

The next method is with one of these old-fashioned peelers that probably nobody even has anymore.

24 grams, and then you just take the tip, you just put the tip in, and you spin it, and you kind of, well, not quite as smooth as the paring knife, but you basically use it as a paring knife, and then you pop that out, and you get strawberry juice on your phone.

Okay, now it weighs 24 grams still, so less than a gram difference, okay.

Next method is with this church key thing, which is another old-fashioned thing that probably nobody has anymore, but I do, because I'm an old woman.

20 grams, and we're gonna do the same thing where you just dig it in, hopefully you washed it first, before you dug it into your beautiful fresh fruit.

Pop it out, now it weighs 18, ooh, 19, okay.

Finally, this is a cool method that I found out about when I was reading a website, like a strawberry grower's website a couple of years ago.

I'd never heard of this, and I was amazed that it actually works.

You put the straw into the bottom of the strawberry like that, and then you push it up.

There we go, and then that part comes out, and then you've got a strawberry that you can look right through.

Look, I'm looking at you, but you can't see me because I have a strawberry covering up my eye hole.

22, okay, so while the straw method is the coolest method and the most surprising method, it was actually the method that resulted in the most loss of strawberry flesh based on this very unscientific, no-control group kind of study that I just did on YouTube.

So the best one then was the second one, this method.

Highly recommend it, but for ease and classicness,

I still probably almost always go with the paring knife method.
