Even though transgender people make up 0.6% of the U.S. population, America's obsessed with making them a foundational platform for political issues.

According to a 2016 survey by the National Center for Transgender Equality, 60% of transgender Americans have avoided using public restrooms.

I don't know how to feel about this issue.

I mean, on one hand, I shouldn't care at all about people peeing.

On the other hand, I am afraid of people taking advantage of this and attacking women.

You're not afraid of transgender people going into bathrooms.

You're afraid of a man dressing up as a trans woman to attack people in a bathroom.

The call is coming from inside of the house.

Harmon, a public policy scholar at the Williams Institute, was a part of a study that found that transgender people are frequently denied access, verbally harassed, or physically assaulted when trying to use public restrooms.

Title II of the Civil Rights Act protects access to public accommodations like hotels and restaurants on the basis of race, color, religion, or national origin.

And yet, we have no federal law that protects people's right to access public spaces on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

Let's say you're a man who wants to dress up as a woman to attack people in the bathroom.  What would your first step be?

After I have a sick fit, then I guess I'd have to buy makeup.

Okay, then I'd have to figure out how to actually put the makeup on.

And after you shave your sweet little hard-earned mustache and curl your curtain bangs, Carl, what do you do next?

I would have to go into a public restroom and I'd have to wait to attack someone.

However, maybe a girly would come up to me and tell me that my outfit's really nice and my makeup looks really good and I'd feel a warming in my heart as I get the validation that I've never had my whole life as a man.

Or would you just walk into a restroom to attack people?

Would you see the sign for women and go, Oh no, I'm not allowed in here.

I was gonna do something illegal and immoral, but this here sign, it stopped me.

Yeah, I guess if I were a fiend who was gonna attack people in a bathroom, I don't know if I'd put a lot of effort into the pre-production of being said fiend.
