Have the three of you and I don't want to be a crass question but you've you know you've been making some money over the years have any of you gone a little money a little mad and bought yourself something crazy or you know just to treat yourself?

Today's lesson is with the actors from Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson and we're going to have a lot of fun learning expressions that will help you level up your English from intermediate to advanced.

Like for example, the interviewer asks Emma here if any of them, the three actors, had bought something more expensive and crazy as he said just to treat yourself.

Has any of you gone a little money a little mad and bought yourself something crazy or you know just to treat yourself?

The expression to treat yourself means to do something nice for yourself usually to feel happy or relaxed.

It could be for example to buy something you like or to eat your favorite food because you feel you deserve a little reward or want to enjoy something special.

And so Emma says that Rupert actually bought an ice cream truck.

Now of course you and Daniel and Rupert, you're the three main, you know, characters that we've been following throughout these different films.

Well, so he's kind of like fulfilled both dreams, you know.

You see it all the time in many different places.

A perfect example of something ubiquitous today would be smartphones.

Just look around you, whether you're on the street, in a restaurant, on public transport, or at school, you see people with phones in their hands.

They're absolutely everywhere, which makes them ubiquitous in modern life.

Conan says that Harry Potter movies are ubiquitous because they're constantly playing on TV, streaming services, and you can encounter them everywhere in popular culture.

And by the way, here's how you should pronounce this word.

So Conan asks Emma if she ever comes across herself in the first Harry Potter movie while watching TV.

If you come across something, you find it or encounter it unexpectedly.

Diana, we've always told you if you ever come across something magical, you should always, always try to understand it.

It's really, I mean, I guess it's just, yeah, very, very strange.

Quite, like quite horrible, is another way of saying very or really.

Emma says seeing her younger self is really unpleasant or very uncomfortable for her to watch, especially the movie Order of the Phoenix, the fifth one of the franchise, which she explains contains some flashbacks from the first Harry Potter film.

Especially like in this one, there's loads of flashbacks to the first film.

A flashback is a scene that shows events from an earlier time.

Most of the film is actually one long flashback.

It when she begins telling her story, the movie flashes back to 1912 to show young Rose boarding the Titanic and meeting Jack.

The entire love story we watch is Rose remembering and retelling events from decades earlier.

I guess just I just used to have such chubby cheeks and such like a high voice and a big hair.

And yeah, you're describing me perfectly.

Chubby means slightly fat or plump, especially in a cute way.

Emma says she had chubby cheeks in the first film, which is totally normal for kids.

Now, of course, you and Daniel and Rupert, you're the three main, you know, characters that we've we've been following throughout these different films throughout means during the entire time period or in every part of something.

Conan means audiences have watched these three actors grow up across all the Harry Potter movies over many years, have the three of you.

And I don't want to be a crass question, but he says I don't want it to be a crass question.

This means rude, insensitive or tactless.
