Hi, today I'm going to review my Metta glasses.

Past simple

So I've had these Ray-Ban Metta glasses for about half a year now.

I purchased it in January, shortly after my birthday.

It was kind of a birthday present to myself.

This is not a sponsor post, you know, Metta, Ray-Ban did not contact me to do review.

This is just something I bought on my own and I decided to do a review.

The reason why it's taken this so long to do review is because, you know, I wanted to test it out in different situations, scenarios, especially when I go on trips.

So I finally went on my first international trip this year in May and it was to Japan to visit my family.

So that's when I decided to, I mean, obviously I wasn't going to take these.

One of the reasons why I wanted these glasses was because I wanted to be able to record things hands-free in public without having much attention drawn to myself.

So I'm just going to kind of go into a little bit more of the details of the glasses, how easy it is to use and what I use it for.

I first want to just talk about the style of the glasses.

So the one reason why I decided to go ahead and purchase them is because I didn't mind the style of the glasses.

I just don't want to wear something that just looks weird or there's too much attention drawn to me.

I wanted something that looked like, hey, those just look like normal glasses on someone.

I actually do wear glasses, but I know I have on contacts and normally throughout the day I wear contacts and at night I put on glasses.

So with the Ray-Ban Metaglasses, there are several different options.

You can actually get prescription glasses, but because I don't really like wearing glasses all day, I decided to go with the non-prescription ones and those were the cheapest options.

So this, when I purchased it in January, is about $300 and it comes in this case and this is the charging case.

This is the charging port right here and then when it's charging, it'll light up green right here so you'll know when it's charging and it looks like just a regular sunglasses case or glasses case and then when you open it and you pull them out, it looks like this.

And mine is, I chose the matte black frames and as far as like style, this is really the only style that they have.

I wish they had like a bigger lens, not big, bigger frames.

I'm just the type of person that likes to wear frames that are larger, but this is the only one that they have as far as like style, like frame styles, which you know, it's still, I still like it, it's not bad, but hopefully in the future they'll have different varieties and different styles.

Actually when I first got these, setting it up, I went through the instructions, it's fairly easy, it's pretty straightforward because you'll have to sync it to your phone.

So I did that, probably took me like, I don't know, reading the instructions and setting everything up, it took me about half an hour.

Before it was called the Meta app and since I've downloaded the app and gotten these glasses, there have been a ton of updates, so I don't even know how many updates I've done since I've gotten these.

This is what it looks like when I wear it.

When I put these on, it'll make like this little ring, like this little pretty sound and then it'll tell you like, you know, when your, when your glasses are ready.

I actually prefer these, the audio on this over my AirPods.

It just feels like someone's just next to me talking, don't have something sticking into my ears.

So I really love the audio, the audio on this.

Up on the top, there is a button here and this button is where I can push to take pictures or record video.

It's also a voice command, so I can just, I could just ask Meta to take a picture or record a video without actually having to push any buttons.

And also on the side, which you can't tell if I kind of, you know, swipe it, I don't want to do it now.

I swipe, touch it, lightly touch it and move it, it'll adjust the audio.

But for the most part, I only use the volume control and also the shutter button.

And I will say the voice command on this thing is superb.

I didn't think it would record that fast, but it really does.

But if I put it on right now, so I'll say, Hey Meta, start recording.

And then they'll make a little beep sound and it'll start recording.

And then it'll make another beep sound, then it stops recording.

So you'll be able to tell like with the sounds it makes, probably someone standing next to you can't hear it, but I can hear it very clearly.

So I know when it's recording and when it stops recording.

And now a light does come on when it's recording.

So recording the voice command is so fast that I was pretty impressed by that.

When it takes a picture, it kind of got to be still, so I'll do it again.

I would say faster than like pulling out your phone, opening up the camera app and taking a photo.

So if you're walking somewhere and you're just like, Oh, I'll take a picture of that real quick.

When I'm shooting video or taking a picture via voice command, if I'm in an area with low signal, it doesn't really work very well.

So if my phone has low signal, the glasses has low signal.

So in those situations, if I'm in an area where the signal is low, which it had happened one time or a few times when I was out shopping and I was wearing these, the area I was in, the signal was slow and I would be like, Hey Meta, take a picture.

But you know, in those cases, if the signal is low, all you have to do is then use the button here and you can take a picture or record.

So when I take a picture, it's asking me questions right now.

Sorry, I guess I should take these off while I'm talking because it's hard to concentrate because Siri or Meta is talking to me.  I don't want to say Siri, but it's like, Hey Meta, and then you say something.

But yeah, so I only use the Hey Meta to take a picture or Hey Meta, start recording.

The first time I started using these, the main reason why I wanted them was because I wanted to be able to record my pups when I was on walks.

So I was really impressed with how well it worked, but I really like the audio on this.

I listen to podcasts when I'm walking my dogs and I usually have AirPods in, but I've actually preferred this over the AirPods.

I also like that I can still hear the outside noise, so I'm still aware of my surroundings and I just like that there's not something in my ear.

Also, when I'm on the phone with my family or my sister, usually if I'm wearing AirPods, I have to be quiet or if I don't put myself on mute, if I'm cooking and I'm doing something, they can hear everything and the noise level is just so high and annoying that you have to put yourself on mute.

But with these, I don't even have to go on mute.

If I'm cooking and washing dishes, they can barely hear it.

So that is what I'm really amazed about with these, is how it's able to pick up my voice but not my surroundings to where it's annoying to the other person that's on the other side of the phone.

So whenever my sisters call, I always put on my Metaglasses instead of my AirPods because a lot of times when they call, because my sister was in Japan, it's like odd hours and I'm either like cooking lunch or dinner, it's great that I can cook and also talk at the same time.

So you're probably wondering, okay, so how is the video quality?

Obviously, it's not going to be like professional level, but good enough for sharing content or just having photos on your phone.

Recently, when I went on my trip to Japan, it was great that I had these.

Sometimes I'm walking through the busy train stations in Tokyo and I just want to record the ambiance and just how crazy and fast paced and just how fascinating Tokyo is.

It's so hard to describe the vibe, unless if you're really in it, but I love that vibe and being able to wear these to the train station and just capture everything, that was great.

So I only recorded during daylight or somewhere where it's bright.

Obviously, recording at night is not so great.

The only thing that I would say is there's a little bit of a learning curve.

So when you're shooting with your camera or your phone, you know how to center it, right?

You know where the lens is and you can easily see like, okay, this is where it's centered.

It's a little different with the glasses because the lens is not centered.

So you have to be aware of where it's centered.

So if I hold something out like this, it's going to be really far away.

There is a learning curve to familiarizing yourself with where the lens is and how it  So that took a little bit of time.

I think the first time I realized, oh, I need to adjust my, um, my head a little bit more or tilt my head more is when I was shooting a cooking video.
