You didn't really pick up pitching until sophomore year, right?

Yeah, I mean, I think that was probably the time where I learned the most about myself, even though it has nothing to do with baseball.

I thought for a while that I was going to fly planes.

I think that's why our sport is so special and unique.

It's like everyone develops at different times.

Nowadays, kids think they have to be good at 11.

I'm like, I wasn't any good until I was 26.

I think that's what makes our game so beautiful.

Folks who are in for a treat with a man on the mound.

I mean, you got to look forward to watching this guy pitch every five days.

Competitors, colleagues, how do you label the bond?

I mean, in this setting, colleague, when we're out there, it's competition.

He's not in the box, but there is that competition between, you know, any pitcher, right?

Paul, what would that competition's best shape be to you?

Three up, three down, nine pitches each side, hopefully.  Give me one strikeout, get me out of it.

I'll turn it over to Booney and let him manage the bullpen, and I'll enjoy my time watching all our guys go at it.

All Skeens has done is turn that into starting the all-star game in his first two seasons after being the number one pick.

All Skoobel's done is win the Cy Young on the way to carrying his team to the best record in baseball this season.

Kevin, must watch men on this mound, and we can't wait.

Yeah, I guess a couple people missed on that, Tom, is what you're saying, no doubt about it.

And it's interesting, the old saying in baseball is a lot of teams have a number one starter, but not everyone has an ace.

What do you look at when you watch these two guys?

I see great relationship between the two and a great deal of respect, but this reminds me of the big Titans.

And we used to watch, we saw Nolan Ryan and some others on the great piece that Tom did.

I'm hoping this comes back, but it reminds me of 1999 when Schilling faced Pedro Martinez at the all-star game, where it took nine pitches for Pedro to go through Larkin, Walker and Sosa.

It's the most dynamic, fun inning I've ever seen, that I've watched, and you hope that you may get something similar like tonight.

Yeah, I mean, look, these two are at a whole nother level.

When we were facing a Pedro Martinez or a Curt Schilling or a Randy Johnson or a Roger Clemens, we could be two, three weeks out, and we're looking at the calendar, and we're counting to see when we're gonna face them, because that's how much time you needed to get ready for these guys.

You didn't even count off days, hoping that maybe you'd miss them.

And I think those two guys are two of the pitchers that are like that in today's game.

Richard normally have body language to intimidate batters, and these two guys right here, they are perfectly fine when it comes down to it.

I can't wait tonight to watch this duo perform out there.

You got Scoble against Shohei, and you got Skeens against Judge.
