the whole notion of connection should be and is,

from all walks of life, from all disciplines, from all parts of the country and around the world.

So actually connection is the very essence of what the RSA is about.

And I think what we're going to explore today is how to enhance it in an age of division.

because you just bump into the the greatest thinkers.

And then afterwards you're amongst other people who got to enjoy that same talk and you're you're hashing through ideas

and you're pressure testing what you think you learned.

And opportunities to keep learning, to keep learning across disciplines,

At the RSA, you're going to get an encounter with different views,

a range of opinions and that the conversation is going to be courteous, respectful,

but going to sort of dig deep into difficult issues and and that's why the RSA and think tanks

It's a space where we are allowed to experiment and play.

we find ourselves now, where many things feel extremely bleak,

there is a desperate need to nurture the arts.

And particularly, I would say younger people in the arts who need an outlet

where they can start to envisage and imagine another way of being and doing.

and it's a massively important institution, more so than ever before in its history.

It's played an integral part in how our country has evolved, but now it has a very important job to ensure that we have a future that everybody can be part of.
