Scientifically speaking, there is no physical center to the universe, no point we could go to, stick a flag down and proclaim to have made it to the center.

Now, don't freak out, but it might then surprise you to hear that you.

Yes, little old you, getting on with your day, binging on YouTube videos are the center of the universe, and every single thing out there in space is expanding directly from where you currently are.

Everything, even if you move to Mars, you will still be the center of the universe you see and are in.

So, technically speaking, you are the center of your observable universe, and there is no actual central point in the universe.

You might think the obvious center of the universe would be the place the Big Bang originated from.

But the Big Bang was not actually an explosion like sometimes depicted, you know, that of a bomb that exploded at one point and from which everything has spread out from.

As far as we know, it was actually an expansion of space itself from where there was no space to begin with.

Meaning, there was no starting center to reference.

And as all of space in the universe is expanding equally in all places, wherever your viewing position in the universe is, it will appear that everything is expanding away from you, the center viewing point.

Say you had a half blown up balloon, and that the surface represents the universe.

Ignore the space inside the balloon, for this simplified example, we are just going to relate it to the two dimensional surface.

You put some pen marks on it, and then start to blow it up more, the dots on the balloon will move apart at the same rate to each other.

If we were to make one of the dots you, center it on its original position to compare it, you will notice that it appears that all the dots are moving away from your position.

If we move you to another location and centered you over that original dot, again, everything will appear to be moving away from this location.

Wherever you move to, this would be the case, the objects appear to be moving away as a faster rate, the further out they are, even though they are scaling uniformly.

So, there you go, when somebody makes you feel low, or you are worried about things, just take a moment to reflect that you are in fact the center of the universe and always will be.
