Welcome back to 'Your English Learning Path'.

Present continuous

Today, I'm going to tell you about my daily routine and use some useful English words and phrases related to waking up, eating and sleeping.

Every morning, my alarm wakes me up at 7 AM, but I don't get up straight away.

I like to stay in bed for a few more minutes before finally starting my day.

Once I'm up, I head to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.

I usually eat cereal, but if I'm in a hurry, I just grab a quick snack and go.

Then, I get ready for work and leave home.

At lunchtime, I prefer to have a light lunch, like a salad or a sandwich.

I don't like feeling too full during the day.

But in the evening, I enjoy my main meal.

Sometimes I cook something delicious and other times, I order a takeaway when I don't feel like cooking.

If I feel tired, I sometimes have a sleep on the sofa before going to bed.

I usually go to bed around 11 PM, but sometimes I have a late night if I'm working on something or watching a movie.

When I finally go to sleep, I'm ready to do it all again the next day.

Example: I wake up at 7 but get up at 7:30.

Example: I went to bed at 10, but I didn't go to sleep until midnight.

Straight away: Immediately, without delay.

Example: She went to sleep straight away because she was so tired.

Example: I had a late night working on my project.

Example: I felt tired, so I had a sleep in the afternoon.

Cereal: A common breakfast food made from grains.

Example: I usually eat cereal with milk for breakfast.

Have a light lunch: eat a small or simple meal for lunch.

Example: I wasn't very hungry, so I had a light lunch - just a salad.
