So how can you tell who's really got your back?

Here are 7 things only a true friend would do.

1. They stick around, even when it's messy.

They don't leave when things get uncomfortable.

Especially when everyone else walks away.

2. They celebrate your wins, without jealousy.

A true friend isn't secretly bitter when you succeed.

They cheer the loudest when you get that promotion, nail that audition, or finally feel happy again.

You don't have to perform or prove yourself.

With a true friend, you're safe to be vulnerable.

They give you space to talk, to cry, to not make sense.

A true friend doesn't just tell you what you want to hear.

If you're hurting yourself, they'll say something.

Their honesty comes from love, not control.

The snack you like, the story you told months ago, your dad's surgery, your cat's name, the weird inside joke from three years ago.

True friends notice, and even when life gets busy, they remember what matters to you.

6. They defend you, even when you're not there.

You'll never catch a real friend talking badly about you behind your back.

In fact, they'll speak up for you, even when you're not around to hear it.

They don't stay silent when someone disrespects you, because loyalty doesn't depend on convenience.

True friends make you feel like you matter.

You can be weird, quiet, anxious, too much or not enough, and they still show up.

They remind you you're lovable, just as you are.

And even when you're not at your best, they choose you anyway.

Real friendship isn't always loud, sometimes it's just showing up.

Someone who sees you, understands you, and wants the best for you.
