Today, we've got three rounds of five words each, and if you know all of them, your English vocabulary is, say it with me, terrific.

I'll put a word on screen and give you three possible definitions.

Here comes our first word, generous, generous.

And does this mean selfish, weak, or given?

If someone is generous, they're willing to give or share what they have.

Sarah was generous with her time and enjoyed helping others.

Word number two, to acknowledge, acknowledge.

And does this mean to admit, to ignore, or to confuse?

To acknowledge means to admit or to recognize something.

Jack refused to acknowledge that he had made a mistake.

And does this mean trustworthy, dangerous, or unpredictable?

If someone is reliable, they are trustworthy or dependable.

A reliable friend is always there when you need them.

And does this mean to oppose, to accept, or to avoid?

To tolerate is to accept or to allow something that one finds unpleasant.

We have no choice but to tolerate our noisy neighbors.

And does this mean total failure, complete disorder, or harsh poverty?

The noun chaos means great disorder or confusion.

After the bell rang, the classroom erupted into chaos.

And if you're thinking, hey, this is too easy, good, because we're about to turn up the difficulty.

Here comes word number six, quirky, quirky.

And does this mean mistaken, energetic, or unique?

Something quirky is unique or unusual in some way.

The cafe had a quirky design with mismatched furniture and polka dot walls.

And does this mean to ignore, to protect, or to fix?

To neglect something is to ignore it or to not take care of it.

If you neglect your responsibilities, you might get fired.

Word number eight, inevitable, inevitable.

And does this mean easy to avoid, certain to happen, or hard to understand?

If something is inevitable, it will happen no matter what.

Aging is an inevitable part of life that we all have to go through.

And does this mean to defend, to run away, or to set apart?

To isolate something is to set it apart or alone.

Scientists isolated the virus for further study.

And does this mean a longing for the past, a fear of the future, or uncertainty about the present?

Nostalgia is the feeling of longing for something from the past.

Looking through an old photo album filled me with a sense of nostalgia.

If someone is oblivious, they're unaware of what's happening around them.

And does this mean determined and persistent, thoughtful and kind, or lazy and indifferent?

If someone is tenacious, they are determined.

The tenacious lawyer refused to quit until he had won the case.

And finally, word number fifteen, to preclude.

And does this mean to make something impossible, to prepare in advance, or to increase the likelihood of success?

To preclude means to make something impossible.

Paul's knee injury precluded him from playing in the final match.
