Hey guys, so I have a little confession to make.

I've been kind of struggling with this problem for a little while and that problem is shopping.

I don't have like a really crazy shopping problem or anything.

I just know that the way that I shop and spend money isn't super ethical.

Like I should be spending my money a lot more responsibly and I'm not.

And I'm looking around you know on the internet scrolling and I'm talking to all my girlfriends and I noticed that there are so many of us who are almost like validating each other and encouraging each other to also participate in this toxic overspending.

And I know it's kind of crazy for me to be making this video when I have a whole digital footprint of me being overconsumption final boss.

Like I should not be one to talk but it's exactly this type of behavior that I'm talking about.

And I find that nobody really talks about this.

I am almost certain that we're all on the same algorithm watching all these clean girl it girl aesthetic videos, drinking their little seven dollar matcha drinks, going to pilates, and I don't know sunday reset.

Cleaning every corner of their aesthetic apartment.

And they've got all these little like designers, sephora, skincare, makeup, perfume.

Those type of videos I think they're great.

Like they look so good it's hard to look away.

But you know up until recently when I quit my previous job and I no longer have super comfortable income.

That's when I kind of realized like oh like I can't I can't keep up with this.

And in using what I have that's when I realized like holy sh**.

I have so much stuff and I'm never going to be able to get through it.

Because I don't know if anyone's ever actually like finished a whole thing of skincare.

That takes me so many years just to finish one bottle.

I don't know how like regular people not influencers.

But like regular a** people are constantly buying makeup.

Like what are you doing with all this makeup?

Like are you are you trying to become an influencer?

They just keep buying makeup and just store it in these drawers.

But the thing is like makeup has a shelf life.

You're never going to use all of this foundation in a lifetime.

But do you notice that like everyone posts these videos?

Always posting like haul videos and PR videos.

Do you notice that these are actually the big brands that are selling us on stuff?

Of course that's what the influencers are doing.

Of course they're trying to sell you stuff, right?

Sometimes you know you watch your favorite influencer.

And stocked with all these luxury bath, skincare, and makeup products.

But sometimes like we gotta take a step back.

And realize that all of this is so manufactured.

Like have you ever tried filming one of those videos yourself?

You gotta clean out your entire bathroom.

Because I know that nobody's bathroom looks that clean.

You know with zero or absolute zero clutter.

Their stuff is gonna be in the washroom too.

Or just be rich enough to live by yourself.

In an aesthetic apartment with an aesthetic bathroom.

And fix it so that it looks nice in frame.

You gotta try all these different angles.

But if you ever try to film a video like this yourself.

You know how much work actually goes into this.

And that's just not how they naturally exist.

And they're like oh this is exactly what I want.

That like tickles something in our brain.

You're like this it girl that you're watching.

I feel like that's the association my brain made.

Because like why the hell am I buying so many perfumes in one year?
