This is the first mention in the Bible of bruising, hurting, wounding.

In the Bible on Friday night we spoke of the enemy as a desecrator, the defiler.

But here's the first wounding and it's concerning the enemy and man.

But if he can't destroy you, he will seek to wound you, hurt you, bruise you, scar you, cripple you.

There are those who have reported having marks left on them from demonic encounters at night.

But as a spiritual entity the enemy primarily does not strike the physical realm directly.

We live in a fallen world and a bruised world.

And a bruised world with, with wounded and scarred people.

Nobody goes through this world without getting hurt.

Nobody goes in the world without getting wounds.

Because we are with fallen people and we are one of them.

Because he's the bruiser and the wounder.

He uses things to wound you, to harm you, to cripple you, to scar you, to stop God's purposes from coming to pass in your life.

Wounds come through rejection, through neglect, through abuse, through being overlooked, from being denigrated, betrayed, attacked, verbally abused, verbally attacked, physically attacked, condemnation, slander, betrayal, judgment, hatred, bondage.

Anger often leads to hurt because anger lashes out.

People's anger causes hurt and wounds from childhood.

Very simply because when you're a child you're small, you're weak, you're vulnerable.

You're very impressionable by those who are stronger and bigger and more powerful.

And what happens to a child is formative.

It can be something that was said to you.

Sometimes one word can cause a lifetime of wounds.

It could be something that was never said.

It could be love that was never shown, or you felt it was never shown.

It could be acceptance that was never given, or you never felt it.

Or you never felt you were good enough, or worthy.

There are hurts that can come later, like a relationship, being abandoned, rejected, abused, or could confirm an earlier wound, or open up new wounds.

There are hurts that come from our own mistakes, our own failures, our falling in sin.

The enemy wants you, will use anything he can, any imperfect thing.

Everybody has hurts and hurts produce wounds.

And they can take the form in your life of fear, living in fear, living in anxiety, living with sensitivity of things you shouldn't be sensitive to, or going through life avoiding things, or, or retreating, or hardening yourself, or with anger, or bitterness, or unforgiveness, hopelessness, or sorrow, depression, distrust, cynicism, negativity, or trying to compensate for, for the wound, trying to make up for it, or trying to numb it, addiction, shame, guilt.

Sense that you're not ever worth much, or that you could never measure up, or that you're always going to fail, or fall, or you're going to come to nothing, or because you were mistreated people you might mistreat yourself.

You might sabotage yourself because you don't feel that you're made for victory.

There's no shortage of the ways of hurts and wounds in the world.

It can even affect your relationship with God.

It should be that your relationship with God is affecting this.

But often it's the hurt and the wounds of this world that affect your relationship with God.

You might know better in your head, you know the doctrine, you know that, but your heart and your, your life and your ways are living in the old.

It can affect how you receive, or don't receive the Word of God, the promises of God that say you're accepted.

They say there's a promise on your life that you don't have to fear.

There's a million ways though that hurt can affect that.

And how you deal with hurt and wounds is important.

Well one way you don't deal with it is by not dealing with it.

Because if you're still holding it, it's still affecting your life, but you're not dealing with it.

Proverbs 32 says, says when I kept silent I wasted away.

Now it's talking about sin, but this, this area involves the sin of the world and involves these things and becomes that.

All these things, unforgiveness become fear.

But when I brought it to God I was set free.

How to not deal with sins and wounds, or hurt, hurt and wounds, by repeating it.

A lot of times people who are wounded wound others.

You know when you see, that's not always, but it's often, way often, and that is that people often who abuse other people were often abused themselves.

So they were abused and instead of getting healed they abuse others.

Those who are rejected may deal with it by rejecting others.
