This is the new Mavic 4 Pro and finally we have 6K video capture, 100 megapixels of resolution and the all-new Infinity Gimbal with features never seen before. and see why the Mavic 4 Pro is probably the greatest consumer drone ever created.

So let's have a quick rundown of the major upgrades on this beast of a drone.

Starting with the main Hasselblad where we have a 4 thirds sensor giving us that stunning 6K resolution up to 60 frames per second HDR video plus an enormous 100 megapixel stills camera for unparalleled aerial photography and if that wasn't enough the Hasselblad camera also boasts 120 frames per second in 4K.

The 70 millimeter medium telephoto camera is a 1 over 1.3 inch sensor with yet another 120 frames per second in 4K, 60 frames per second with 14 stops of dynamic range and finally the 168 millimeter which is an all-new 1 over 1.5 inch tele camera.

This even gives us 4K 60 frames per second with 13 stops of dynamic range or 100 frames per second in 4K.

These camera specs are like nothing we've ever seen before, simply stunning footage on all three lenses.

What separates the Mavic 4 Pro apart from other drones is the three different focal lengths.

Swapping between these cameras offers a distinctive field of view without changing the physical position of the drone.

The 6K quality of the Hasselblad lens is truly exceptional.

Mid-range from the 70 millimeter and those parallax effects that you get from a super telephoto lens present us with intimate and cinematic action clips like never before.

Even in high dynamic range scenarios the Mavic 4 Pro handles highlights and shadows perfectly with around 16 stops of dynamic range on the main Hasselblad camera.

In low light pushing the ISO up to 800 offers clean low noise footage.

Another major upgrade on the Mavic 4 Pro is the infinity gimbal which rotates on the roll axis with a complete 360 degree spin and the results offer exceptional flexibility while also enabling 70 degree upward shots.

Or seamless vertical shooting for that all-important social media ring.

The new flagship RC controller has taken a big leap forward over previous models.

The most noticeable change is the folding screen and collapse down joysticks.

This is the dream what we've all been waiting for.

No more faffing around with tiny screw-on joysticks.

Startup time is now just Simply unfolding the screen switches on and within no time at all you're up and running.

Also if you're filming in that vertical aspect ratio for socials you can twist the seven inch screen for a better view and the gimbal follows suit.

But probably my favorite upgrade is the new exposure dial.

You can select either aperture shutter speed or ISO using the center button and then dial in the values on the fly.

It just makes for easier camera control with more professional results.

Oh and this screen has 2000 nits peak brightness with four hours running time.

Really handy if you're filming car shots on the go.

The home point will be continuously updated to the remote controller's location.

Finally you can enter sleep mode to save battery.

Folding away the screen doesn't actually turn off the device.

Instead it shuts off the screen while maintaining connection to the drone and GPS so you're ready to go in a second.

There is a discrete power button on the top of the screen.

This is a new luxe nightskate system incorporated into the omnidirectional obstacle avoidance and DJI have placed it in the right front arm of the drone.

Now I'm no expert but what I think this does is bounce pulses of light off of objects in the drone's path and then maps out a 3D model of the environment around it.

In near pitch black environments the forward facing LiDAR enables the drone to perceive its surroundings and break the drone before it hits anything.

And somehow this sucker can return home without any satellite signal whatsoever.

It uses the pre-built map model from its outbound journey to trace its way back to the home point.

So Active Tracking has had an upgrade with Active Track 360 degree following cars has become much more intuitive with direction recognition and a 200 meter maximum distance.

Using the 168 millimeter telephoto lens gets you up close and personal without putting the drone or cars in harm's way.

Plus we still have all the great Active Tracking features available from previous Mavic models.

So let's talk battery power on the Mavic 4 Pro.

A documented 51 minute flight time which means in real world use maybe 40 to 45 minutes.

And that's using what's called ultra low wind resistance configuration.

But even so it is a significant improvement over the Mavic 3 Pro which was documented at 43 minutes.

Using the 240 watt desktop charger these batteries will charge simultaneously from zero to 100 percent in 90 minutes.

If you're in a hurry 43 minutes for a single unit.

Now image quality has always been a key player in my decision making when it comes to drone selection and now having D-Log M color profile on all three cameras and HDR with higher frame rates is absolutely why I would reach for the Mavic 4 Pro.

I actually own the Air 3 and the DJI Flip.

Both very capable drones but the Infinity Gimbal with that cool rolling action has opened up a whole new way of capturing the highest quality footage.

It's been well over two years since the release of the mighty Mavic 3 Pro and the weight definitely worth it.

I mean there are upgrades in virtually every department.

Half a terabyte of internal storage if you have the creator combo which eliminates the need for these silly little micro sd cards.

We've got 128 gigabytes of internal storage on the remote control so you can record screen captures and document your flights or install third-party apps and even watch your favorite YouTube channels with glorious clarity.

The new fisheye sensors dotted around the body of the drone offer much better performance and daylight resolution for obstacle avoidance.

In fact four times that of the Air 3S apparently.
