  • Hey everybody, welcome back to my channel.

  • I am a little bit late.

  • I am heading to Nasu, which is basically the home of lemon milk, well, Tochigi, which is where it is, is the home of lemon milk.

  • They have a safari park there, they have a teddy bear museum, they have castles, they have nature, they have all sorts of things.

  • So I was invited to this area in Japan to experience it because I've never been there before.

  • So we're gonna go explore a little bit for the next couple days and you guys are totally coming with me.

  • So let's go!

  • Welcome to Nasu, only a hop and skip away from Tokyo.

  • It takes about an hour by bullet train to get here and it's great for camping and vacationing.

  • They say the royal family comes here for family vacation, therefore it's a popular spot to relax.

  • I've arrived at Nasu and we are going to head to the animal kingdom, which is about 35 minutes from this station and we are going to experience some animals close up.

  • So I'm really excited.

  • I'm excited to see how this place is.

  • So comment down below what you guys think.

  • Okay, so I'm in Nasu right now and we are at the animal kingdom.

  • The animal kingdom is mostly for smaller animals.

  • It's great more for families, it's less for like date couple time.

  • I'm usually talking about going on dates in Japan, so this is more like for family.

  • So I'm excited to go inside.

  • It's pretty windy today, but we're gonna make it work.

  • It's a nice day.

  • It's not raining.

  • So yeah, we're gonna go and explore inside.

  • So let's go!

  • The animal kingdom is not exactly a zoo.

  • It's a place where they research and study the animals and save animals who are dying out.

  • And eventually being released back into the wild.

  • While the animals settle here for a time, you can get an up close and personal look at these amazingly beautiful creatures who are pretty much not caged.

  • I've never been this close to animals like this before in Asia.

  • This is amazing.

  • Oh my gosh.

  • There's birds flying everywhere.

  • I'm just like...

  • The animal kingdom created environments to mimic what they would look like if the animals were free.

  • They live together in unison with each other.

  • It's amazing to see how the animals interact with one another.

  • The best part about this park is getting up close to the largest rodent in the world.

  • If you've ever been to Japan, they have a famous character named Capybara-san.

  • Most people think this character is a fake animal, but it's real and it comes all the way from South America.

  • So we're going into the Capybara no Mori, which is where you can hang out with capybara.

  • And capybara is the largest rodent in the world.

  • And it's also a very popular character in Japan.

  • And I'm super excited.

  • Hai, doko.

  • Hai, sorry, sorry.

  • Awww!

  • Hi!

  • Hello!

  • You're so cute!

  • I'm touching a capybara for the first time, and it's so strange.

  • Their hair is like straw.

  • It's very dry.

  • This is my dream.

  • You can feed them.

  • If you come here, you can feed them some food.

  • I guess you have to buy.

  • So we're going to go feed them today.

  • So I'm making some new friends today.

  • I made some friends.

  • This is my friend right here.

  • Hello!

  • They all look so sleepy.

  • I've never been so close to these animals before.

  • It's really interesting.

  • Awww!

  • They're so sleepy.

  • They're lazy animals.

  • Say hi!

  • No?

  • Okay.

  • Kawaii!

  • So cute!

  • Oh, there's more!

  • Are you hungry?

  • Okay, please wait.

  • More?

  • Okay, you're really hungry.

  • The animal kingdom has plenty of shows to see, but the must-see show when you visit is the amazing bird show displayed on top of a gorgeous mountain.

  • So I haven't been on one of these since I was 13, and it's very oddly relaxing.

  • We're going to see a bird performance.

  • So we're about to sit down and see that.

  • It's really cool. The stage is like a cliff.

  • So it's kind of cool to see the open air.

  • It's not in anything.

  • It's not inside anywhere.

  • It's outside.

  • It's really cool.

  • Another performance worth seeing is the cat performance.

  • If you're a lover of cats, this is a must-see.

  • Kawaii!

  • Those are my favorite.

  • Nasu Ben

  • Around lunchtime, I was able to eat the famous Nasu Ben, which is a lunch separated into compartments similar to a bento box.

  • The main dish is in the center.

  • You work your way around the compartments, and at the end of your meal, you eat the dessert.

  • This changes every single year.

  • This was such an amazing dish.

  • I was impressed with the presentation.

  • They also have other creative animal-themed dishes as well.

  • It looks so good!

  • After lunch, I was able to hang out with some of the dogs that don't have homes.

  • You can rent a dog and take them for walks around the park or just play with them.

  • So cute!

  • I like the big ones.

  • Here you can actually rent dogs and you can take them for walks and play with them and take them out because a lot of people in Tokyo don't have room for dogs in their apartments.

  • They come here and they can take them out and walk them and play with them.

  • Hello!

  • Okay, so everywhere you go, there's something.

  • Like you can step on something or look up and there's something.

  • There's some kind of animal and this animal is saying hello.

  • Hello!

  • Hello!

  • Hello!

  • Kawaii!

  • Awww!

  • Kawaii!

  • Awww!

  • Oh!

  • It's beautiful!

  • I'm glad it's beautiful.

  • It's body is white but the inside of the nose is yellow.

  • Oh, it's yellow.

  • Wow, it's beautiful!

  • What's its name?

  • Oh, good job!

  • It's Lila!

  • Kawaii!

  • Bye!

  • Bye-bye!

  • So cute!

  • Bye-bye!

  • Bye-bye!

  • The last thing I was able to experience was feeding all the red pandas.

  • They are one of my favorite animals.

  • Oh my gosh!

  • Kawaii!

  • Kawaii!

  • The best thing about going anywhere in Japan is the plethora of omiyage, Japanese snacks and souvenirs.

  • Try and get some of the cheesecake snacks as Nasu is known for its cheese and dairy desserts.

  • After a long day at the animal kingdom only about 10 minutes away is a very hidden and quiet hot spring hotel called Sansuikaku.

  • It's a luxury onsen resort where most rooms have their own personal hot spring to enjoy by yourself.

  • This was the first time I slept in such a relaxing place like this.

  • I never wanted to leave.

  • I am at a traditional Japanese ryokan so I'm going to give you a tour of this place because it's incredible.

  • It's a great place for a getaway with your loved one or just a friend.

  • Right now I'm in my genkan which is the front area when you walk in the door.

  • We have the genkan area, we have Japanese flowers and this little showcase and this is where you take off your shoes.

  • This is a room, you guys.

  • This is a room, it's not a house.

  • And then you walk in and the floors, the tatami mat is heated which is super nice. This is the bathroom. So we're going to go into the bathroom and this is where I will be getting ready in the morning.

  • Hello. So yes, they have everything laid out for you. This beautiful sink, a mirror, some face wash and everything.

  • So we have the traditional

  • Japanese toilet. I'm not sure where the light is.

  • So this is a washlet.

  • Nice, traditional

  • Japanese bathroom with the traditional Japanese bathroom slippers.

  • And then when you walk out of the bathroom area you come into the main area which is the sitting room.

  • So you can sit down and relax, do some work on this beautiful table.

  • There's a sitting area so you can view the outside. We have a TV, we have this little shelf here.

  • I'm not sure, this might be just decoration.

  • Looks like it's just decoration.

  • And then if you come over here, we have your closet for your yukata.

  • So basically, we have your yukata here which I'm going to put on later. This is for to put over your yukata.

  • So if you get cold, you can put this over it. Best part about this room,

  • I'm going to show you right now.

  • If you open this door, you go into the bedroom.

  • So this is where you can get some tea, call room service, the refrigerator is here.

  • And then you come over here and we have two beds.

  • It's only me tonight but this is the bedroom. Two beautiful beds. There's a little step there to tummy mat. And once we turn around, we have a private onsen.

  • I am so stoked for this because you can just wake up and soak in the bath, relax and look outside.

  • This is glass.

  • And if you come over here, this goes into the shower.

  • So you rinse off and you wash yourself first.

  • And then you can come into the bath.

  • And here is the bath.

  • This is a hot spring.

  • An actual hot spring in my hotel.

  • It's kind of chilly but that's good.

  • And look, you can open this up and watch outside and it's just perfect.

  • Like this is beautiful.

  • And then we have some closet storage space right here with towels and things like that. Okay, so I'm pretty stoked about this. This is amazing. I have this beautiful room to myself.

  • There's some storage space over here. I didn't even look inside.

  • Pillows and blankets and all sorts of things in here.

  • Everything. Like, it's amazing. I can't wait to relax. I really need it right now. So, yeah.

  • I have another private bath to go into at 9 o'clock. It's reserved for me.

  • Only me. So I'm gonna go there.

  • It's like outside, I think. So I'm gonna bring my camera with me.

  • And, yeah. I'm just gonna soak in the bath.

  • Before my evening bath, I had a course meal with amazingly healthy, traditional

  • Japanese food and a nice cold beer.

  • There were a lot of foods that I recognized and a lot of foods that I didn't.

  • But they were all so good.

  • Okay. So I have this whole bath to myself. And

  • I'm excited. I'm a little red right now.

  • Probably because I was drinking.

  • But they give you some chilled water right here. And this is my private bath for today. But I also have a private bath in my room.

  • This is the bath.

  • It looks gorgeous. Oh my gosh.

  • Look at this.

  • The next morning, at 5am, I woke up to enjoy the silence and soak in my personal bath.

  • Imagine this being your everyday morning routine.

  • Goodbye bath.

  • Oh my god. I want to weave you.

  • Look. My room is over here. It's so nice.

  • Seriously guys, I love how inside this fridge is like this fancy metal thing of water.

  • Good morning everybody.

  • So I am still in this luxury onsen, hot spring.

  • And I don't want to leave.

  • I'm about to eat a delicious breakfast.

  • I really love how this place is like private. So you can have private breakfast, private dinner, private room, private bath.

  • Everything is private. The cool thing about this place is there are a lot of people from around the world that are working here. So there's a couple from

  • Denmark that work here just on a sort of like internship type thing. There's one girl from Vietnam who was serving us yesterday. And the cool thing is like on their name plates, it says where they're from.

  • It was time to say goodbye to Sansuikaku after my amazingly delicious breakfast. I truly enjoyed my stay here.

  • If any of you are fans of The Legend of Zelda or Naruto,

  • I was told not too far from Sansuikaku was a legend passed down for many generations of a nine-tailed fox that was turned into a large boulder resting on the foot of a mountain. It was bound and never to be released again as it was a dangerous and manipulative creature.

  • The artists of The Legend of Zelda games created a sort of QR code adventure where you can meet several different animated foxes while you hike the mountain.

  • You'll learn about the legend and the history of what is now called

  • Sesshoseki or The Killing

  • Rock. It definitely has an eerie vibe. So if you guys know The Legend of Zelda, I'm a big fan of the video games. So the artist that drew the characters for the QR code thing where it tells you about the story is the woman who drew the art for Zelda.

  • It's supposed to be the fox that's turned into a stone.

  • They're keeping her.

  • Another notable place to check out nearby is the Teddy Bear Museum.

  • When I heard about this, I had to go.

  • It shares the history of teddy bears along with some famous teddy bears owned by famous people around the world.

  • Many teddy bears are waiting to meet you.

  • We are at the Nasu

  • Teddy Bear Museum.

  • Here you can see a lot of teddy bears that were vintage or from the past, but also teddy bears that are pretty recent.

  • Different types of teddy bears.

  • There's nobody here.

  • This is really interesting. You can see behind me, there's a big teddy bear.

  • Around this time, Nasu displayed a

  • Studio Ghibli exhibition on the second floor.

  • There's also a cafe next to the museum where you can sit with a teddy bear and have dessert and coffee.

  • When it comes to food, Nasu has a very homey and rustic vibe, which is why Nasu is great for a little getaway.

  • A hidden gem, if you will.

  • We ate a late lunch at

  • Kuwaiti, a French restaurant inside an old European-style home.

  • As a final destination, we stopped at

  • Cheese Garden, since Nasu is famous for dairy and cheese. This place is famous for their amazing cheesecakes and desserts.

  • I'm at the

  • Cheese Garden. I keep calling it the Cheesecake Factory.

  • They sell all kinds of cheesecakes and cheeses and all sorts of things like that. This is a very famous spot to come to get omiyage or gifts for people.

  • Before going to Nasu,

  • I had no idea it existed, which makes places like this worth checking out. If you have the chance to go and you've already seen all the touristy spots in Japan,

  • Nasu is a gem waiting to be discovered.

  • If you love hiking and camping, it's a perfect place for that as well.

  • I will definitely be back in the summer.

  • Thank you for watching.

  • I'll see you next time.

  • Thank you guys for watching.

  • I hope you enjoyed my virtual ticket series. Give it a like for more travel gems like this. If you're new, welcome and please subscribe if you want to see some more awesome Japan travel and lifestyle content. I'll see you guys next time.

Hey everybody, welcome back to my channel.
