AI is a bubble!
Wait, AI is an apocalypse!
Wait, AI will take our jobs!
What are we supposed to believe?
Why do we feel so uninformed?
Let's try to get our heads on straight. There are two ways to demystify the AI world and feel more confident keeping track of advancements: small experiments and a news diet.
If you're not using AI right now, it might be easy to feel left behind.
I'm here to tell us that it's not too late to start using AI, and it's not too late to start using AI in our UX work, too. Text-based AI tools like ChatGPT, Cloud, or Gemini are nice for small writing experiments with AI.
Day-to-day communication like emails, copywriting, summarizing, and condensing text-based content.
AI tools can also be great at drafting research plans, interview questions, and screeners.
NMG has lots of guides to help you start doing small experiments with AI tools.
We also have resources to help you integrate them into your work.
I'll include some links in the video description. We don't have time to read academic articles on the latest AI models, so I recommend a balanced news diet to help you consume information that will keep you from being surprised when the next huge AI innovation comes along.
A daily newsletter can be too overwhelming, so subscribe to three weekly sources: one for news, one for optimistic AI writing, and one for skeptical AI writing.
I'll include some of my favorites in the video description.
Whatever that means to you, maintaining a diverse but focused news diet can help you feel more confident and informed. I don't know about you, but it's easy to feel bombarded by AI news, AI hype, and AI doomerism.
But the truth is, AI is still early.
AI is still young.
We have no idea whether it will continue to improve beyond our wildest dreams, or plateau and remain where it is today, or drop off a cliff.
It's a noisy world out there, and there's plenty of opportunity to catch up. Consider subscribing to our channel.
