  • I've lived on my own in New York City for the past two years now.

  • And before moving here, let's just say I had much different expectations.

  • I expect in New York City to be just like in friends, having a big apartment, hang out at coffee shops and going on a lot of dates.

  • At least until I found a girl like Sarah Jessica Parker.

  • I expected everyone to be rich, Wall street brokers, a city where everyone is famous there to be crimes just like in C si have snowball fights in Central Park and eat pizza every single day, pizza.

  • And now that I lived here for a few years, I want to share the actual realities of in New York City.

  • First of all, for this being my biggest NYC apartment, as you can tell it is not so big.

  • The bedrooms in NYC really are like closets.

  • But why we went with this apartment in particular was because the living room is relatively large and also so is the kitchen even though I don't cook anything.

  • And I was expecting to pay a lot of money in rent, but for paying over $15,000 a year in rent.

  • I was expecting the apartments to be a little bit nicer and this apartment is probably the first apartment I have that.

  • I feel like the price I'm paying is equal to the value.

  • I'm getting out of it since it's in a very nice neighborhood.

  • It's spacious also.

  • It's the first apartment I have where the intercom actually works.

  • My roommate Bobby and I definitely take advantage of it.

  • What do you do?

  • The next thing I wanted to talk about is the people since I expected everyone to be greedy and rude, but you really can sift through all that and find some awesome individuals.

  • I was hoping that was the case because when I moved here, I really wanted to make as many connections as possible and just build a network of people.

  • And after living here for these past few years, I'm very happy with this creative NYC crew that we've been forming.

  • And speaking of that, I'm actually going to meet up with the creator right now.

  • So I just made it here to one of my favorite coffee shops in Lower Manhattan called Spread House Coffee.

  • And I am here with my friend Chris who was an artist and I'd say the epitome of a New York hustler.

  • So Chris, what do you do exactly?

  • Uh I am a motion graphic designer.

  • Um So I work in film and television, uh creating intros, working on documentaries.

  • Uh do a lot of branded stuff.

  • So logo bumpers and things like that.

  • Why I wanted to meet up with him today is because he's actually helping me rebrand my youtube channel and all of my personal branding someone I love having here in New York City.

  • Just to bounce ideas off of and to create, I expected NYC to live up to its name and be the city that never sleeps.

  • And in reality, it is, it does not matter if it is the weekend or not, there is always some type of cool event going on and it really does last all night.

  • Now for the dating, I was expecting it to be as easy as it looks in sex in the city.

  • Excuse me?

  • Hi.

  • Hi.

  • Hi.

  • Have you met Liz?

  • She works in TV.

  • Get out of here.

  • Ok.

  • I love TV.

  • But in reality, I'm not alone in the park with a rose.

  • I'm just kidding.

  • It truly is a phenomenal city for dating.

  • You can meet such awesome and interesting individuals.

  • It's just up to you to either get on a dating app or, uh, just meet them on the streets for yourself.

  • Yeah.

  • Yeah.

  • Yeah.

  • Can I get your number?

  • Yeah.

  • What's your name?

  • I'm Brett.

  • Nice to meet you too.

  • Megan.

  • I can't believe you're standing here with a rose on a date.

  • I remember before moving to New York hearing the Jay Z and Alicia Keys song, New York State of mind and hearing le key say New York City, the concrete jungle where dreams are made of.

  • And I grew up in a small town, Long Island where there wasn't much opportunity to achieve all the goals that I aspire to do.

  • But being here in New York, there's so much energy and like minded and motivated individuals that it makes you feel like you can do anything and that's gonna be it for today's video.

  • I hope you enjoyed this rainy day vlog.

  • But if there is something that I left out, comment it down below and also don't forget to leave a like and subscribe if you aren't already and I will see you guys tomorrow with another video but until then remember to get out and get busy and get sunshine.

  • Hopefully.

  • Bye.

  • Lights is blinding.
