• instead of: When one thing is replaced by another
• show up: To arrive or be seen at a place, e.g. a party
• look at: To use your eyes to focus on something
• just kind of: Used to express a feeling or state in a vague or hesitant way.
• on the table: Located on the surface of a table.
• going on: To continue doing something
• of a sudden: Quickly and unexpectedly; suddenly.
• come up: To come closer to someone; approach
• cut to the chase: To get directly to the point without unnecessary details.
• on television: Appearing or broadcast on TV.
• stick: To push a sharp or pointed object into something
• recognize: To accept the truth or reality of something

• bar: Piece of (soap, chocolate etc.)
• grade: To give a road the required angle of slope
• know: To be familiar with a person or place, thing
• list: To lean to one side, like a boat or ship
• level: Specific height of something
• stupid: Not intelligent; lacking ability to learn easily
• hall: Area just inside the entrance of a building
• banquet: Grand formal dinner
• time: Speed at which music is played; tempo
• prom: Dance, usually held in high school
• wallet: Small flat case for money, credit cards etc.
• bartender: Employee who makes and serves alcohol at a bar
• upstairs: On a floor above
• bro: Shortened form of 'brother'
• microphone: Device you speak in to record or amplify sounds
