  • They were more than a week past the RSVP deadline, but Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, have finally responded to that invitation to King Charles's Coronation.

  • And she will be staying home.

  • Prince Harry will attend his father's Coronation next month, but without Meghan.

  • A terse palace bulletin says, "Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation service at Westminster Abbey."

  • "The Duchess of Sussex"⏤that's Meghan⏤"will remain in California."

  • So, why no Meghan?

  • Meghan and Harry's spokesman says their son Archie's fourth birthday falls on Coronation day, May 6th, and was a factor in the couple's decision, but some experts aren't buying it.

  • If she had attended the Coronation, she would've been booed.

  • The British public were going to boo her, and Meghan knew that.

  • I spoke with CBS News foreign correspondent Ramy Inocencio in London.

  • Why is Meghan staying behind? Is it really over the birthday of her son?

  • It can be at least seen, interpreted, that Megan has this family reason, this family excuse to stay home.

  • But frankly, really, whatever she does, stay in the US or even if she were to come to the UK, one sidesomeone will not be happy about that.

  • It will be Harry's first encounter with his father King Charles and brother William since the publication of his controversial tell-all book "Spare".

  • President Biden is also not going to the historic Coronation.

  • Yet, he's currently in Ireland.

  • Some Brits see that as a snub.
