  • Stroman referred to Ohtani as a "mythical legend in human form".

  • He shared this wonderful compliment in a tweet sometime in 2021, saying,

  • "Ohtani is a mythical legend in human form. What he's doing is beyond incredible."

  • "Everyone in the big leagues is in awe of his talent. After games, I be running to my phone to check and see what Ohtani did on the night!"

  • "Lol."

  • Another impressive talent, the eight-time MLB All-Star and Silver Slugger, Mike Trout, had some remarkable things to say about his teammate, Ohtani.

  • In an interview with "Forbes", Trout said his Angels teammate Shohei Ohtani is the athlete to watch right now.

  • He said, "I've never seen such a player like Ohtani."

  • "It's hard enough to hit in Major League Baseball; to do it and pitch seven innings with a 100-mph fastball and a split like that, it's a show to watch."

  • Jared Walsh, who was Angel's first baseman/outfielder and knew about being both a pitcher and hitter at the University of Georgia, even throwing five innings for the Halos in 2019,

  • had his share of impressive observations about Ohtani.

  • He said he appreciates what Ohtani is doing and went on to say in an appearance on MLB Network, "Once you see him in person, I mean, the ball comes off his bat like no one I've ever seen"

  • Rangers closer Ian Kennedy commented that Ohtani has not only lived up to his expectations but has also exceeded anyone's expectations.

  • He said he knew Ohtani was a good pitcher, but did not expect him to be that good of a hitter.

  • Ian said, "I remember I was, like, 'Oh, yeah, OK, we'll see if he can hit,' because I knew how good a pitcher he was."

  • "I knew what kind of stuff he had, but he's a way better hitter than I thought he'd ever turn out to be."

  • He blew Kennedy's mind as he had blown all our mindsthat's for sure.

  • The songs of praise of Ohtani did not stop there.

  • Former professional baseball shortstop and baseball executive Derek Jeter thinks Ohtani deserves the votes he got from fans to be the number 1 card in the 2022 edition of the trading card set.

  • He also spoke about the first time he saw Ohtani play when he took a trip to Japan after he had just retired with former Yankees outfielder, Hideki Matsui, meeting Ohtani briefly at the time.

  • Jeter said he's been following Ohtani's career, especially after Ohtani came to America.

  • He further said, "What he's doing here, we have, arguable, not seen before, with the exception of Babe Ruth".

  • Ohtani's outstanding talent even left former professional baseball shortstop speechless mid-sentence.

  • Rodriguez was talking about how difficult it can be to carry elite performances deep into an MLB season as it is much longer than other professional sports, explicitly referring to Ohtani,

  • when Matt Vasgersian told Rodriguez about how Ohtani delivered another elite performance at the Angels' 142nd game of last season, leaving Rodriguez speechless mid-sentence.

  • Rodriguez later went on to commend Ohtani, saying,

  • "You can't approach Shohei Ohtani with traditional expectations, as he's shown us time and time again that he's unique; sometimes you just have to shut up and enjoy greatness."

  • All-Star professional baseball player Freddy Freeman also had something to say about Ohtani.

  • In an interview, Freeman said he doesn't know if anyone would be able to do it like Ohtani,

  • but at least the door is now open for younger aspiring baseball players to try playing two-way in the major league.

  • He further said what Ohtani is doing is "incredible and special", and Ohtani's talent is "mindblowing".

  • Harper said, "That's why he's so impressive, that's why he is such a special player, a superstar player for this game."

  • We agree with you, Harper; definitely a superstar player.

  • Barnes said, "I personally think he's the most physically gifted baseball player that we've ever seen."

  • He went further to say, "I don't know you're ever going to see somebody who can throw 101 and hit the ball 600 feet."

  • "I mean, he's a special player, he's incredibly talented, and, hopefully, he stays healthy and has a long career."

  • Kind words from Matt Barnes.

  • Yankees ace Gerrit Cole also shared his praise-giving thoughts about Ohtani, saying he is a huge fan of Shohei Ohtani and how magnificent Ohtani is.

  • In an interview following last season, Gerrit went further to say, "I certainly can throw the ball as hard as him, but I can't hit it as far as he can."

  • There are certainly people that can hit it as hard as he can, and can't even throw it anyway close to the way that he can throw it."

  • Talking about Ohtani's two-way talent.

  • Gerrit also said that he hopes that Ohtani continues to encourage others to dream big and shoot for the stars as a two-way baseball player in the big leagues.

  • We can continue to go on and on about all the fantastic things MLB legends have to say about Ohtani and will not exhaust the praises.

  • Let's talk about what his countrymen have to say about Ohtani.

  • Shohei has become enormously popular in his country, Japan.

  • Ohtani's outstanding performance last season was not only a national pride for millions of Japanese, including those who don't follow baseball regularly,

  • but it was also seen as an appealing distraction from the pandemic and other ominous events that happened in Japan.

  • According to the "Japan Times", what differentiates Ohtani from other previous Japanese stars of American baseball, such as Hideki Matsui and Ichiro Suzuki, among others,

  • was his uniqueness as a two-sword player, which is known in English as a two-way player.

  • You must understand why everyone is so impressed by this super talented two-way player.

  • It's rare to find a two-way player, pitching and hitting in the major league.

  • This is most commonly seen in high school and even college players, but rarely in the major league, especially since Babe Ruth.

  • This is because, in college, the players are either recruited as a pitcher or a hitter, never both, to allow them to focus on being great and excelling at one of the two.

  • However, he made it known right from when he was in Japan that he intended to be a hitter and pitcher in the major league.

  • Ohtani is not only a two-way player but an excellent one at that.

  • Even one of Ohtani's teammates said if Ohtani was not a hitter, he would've won the most valuable pitcher of the year, and if Ohtani was not a pitcher, he still would've won the Most Valuable Hitter of the Year.

  • When you say multi-talented, just say Shohei Ohtani.
