- [Christine] When Salesforce first launched,
Facebook didn't even exist.
But today, social media and social selling are part
of the everyday sales process.
So Salesforce did something really helpful.
They added social media information
to each account and contact.
So for example, if you haven't heard back
from a contact and you're waiting for them
to sign a contract,
you might want to pop into their Facebook account
to see if they're on vacation.
So to set this up,
you just need to do a few things to get activated.
So let me show you how to do that now.
I'm going to navigate over to my profile picture
and go to Settings.
And then I'm going to scroll down to Display & Layout,
and to My Social Accounts and Contacts.
And you'll see you need this checked off,
Use Social Accounts and Contacts,
and then you can just select which social networks you want
to see information from.
So in this case, I just selected Twitter and Facebook.
I'm going to hit Save.
Now at the time of this recording,
the maximum amount of information is really only available
in Salesforce Classic view.
So I'm going to switch over to that now.
And again, I just click on my profile picture
and switch to Salesforce Classic.
And I'm going to check out my friend, Kirk Hansel.
Here he is.
And you'll see right here,
there is a Twitter icon and a Facebook icon.
So if we click on Twitter,
we can see that there's quite a bunch of information here.
We can get a good idea about their marketing tactics here.
It looks like they do some promotions.
They've been in business quite a long time.
We see they celebrated a 25 year anniversary.
So this is great information.
Now, we can also look at their Facebook profile.
If we click here, we can see Kirk Hansel.
And they actually pulled in his profile picture,
which is fantastic because if we've never met
with Kirk before, now we have an idea of what he looks like.
So let's check out his Facebook profile.
Great, so now we have Kirk's Facebook profile page
and we can see if there's any information here.
It doesn't look like he posts a ton,
but we can verify that he's a co-owner and that he lives
in Los Angeles, which is great information.
So again, you can find this out for anyone who
has an active social account in Twitter
and Facebook and in YouTube.
So now you have a wealth of information
from social media connected to your accounts
and contacts in Salesforce.
