  • President Vladimir Zelinski is in Washingtonit is his first trip abroad since Russia invaded in February.

  • And in the last half hour, he has been welcomed by President Biden at the White House, along with Dr. Jill Biden.

  • A little later, he will address a joint session of Congress, and US leaders are expected to announce a new package of military support for Ukraine, including a patriot air defense missile.

  • So, let's get more on this.

  • We can speak to Jill Sinclair, Canada's representative to the Ukraine Defense Reform Advisory Board, joining us live from Ottawa.

  • In terms of military support and in terms of financial support, is giving the most, internationally, to Ukraine.

  • But just talk us through what we can expect to hear from Vladimir Zelensky, what is it that he really wants?

  • Oh, Kasia, thanks for having me.

  • Look, what Zelensky needs and what we need to give him his weapons, weapons, and weapons.

  • And the american people have stood proudly with them democrats and republicans together with our allies in europe and Japan and other places to make sure you have the financial, humanitarian and security assistance that needed.

  • We're gonna talk about that today and uh we're gonna continue to strengthen Ukraine's ability to defend itself, particularly air defense.

  • And that's why we're going to be providing Ukraine with patriot missile battery and uh training your forces to be able to accurately use it together with our partners are also going to continue to impose costs on the Kremlin and we'll support Ukraine pursuing a just peace.

  • President Zelensky, the United States stands with the great people in Ukraine.
