  • I just checked into the hotel Monte leon and new Orleans.

  • I chose to stay here because one, it's a historic hotel and two because it's close to a lot of the locations that I wanted to go to with my dog kuma.

  • So three, it's pet friendly.

  • So I tend to choose hotels that are pet friendly usually because I'm always traveling with my dog or most of the time if I can, it's a little bit more expensive.

  • Not too bad.

  • The only thing that's way more expensive is the pet fee is 100 $50.

  • Well it's actually $100 and then it's $25 per night you stay here with your pet.

  • So since I'm staying here for two nights it's going to be 100 and $50.

  • But they do give you a nice pet package.

  • So online it says the Monty's pet package includes a pet mat bowls, a chew toy, a bag of treats, gourmet treats, waste bags and a brochure of pet friendly attraction in the city.

  • I got most of those but I did not get a pet match or go gourmet treats but I did get a nice toy for kuma.

  • So this is what kuma got.

  • So it came in this nice bag, it was already ready for me when I checked in and it came with this nice dog toy.

  • This is pretty heavy duty.

  • I like it and a waste bag dispenser And waste bags in there, which I really appreciated this because I actually wanted something like this and also a dog bowl is what they provided right there with their logo on it.

  • I did want to stay on a higher floor but I guess they put all the pets on the same floor.

  • So I'm on the third floor in room 3 76.

  • I'm not very happy with the location of this room because I'm just hearing music like constantly and it's not even from bourbon street or anything.

  • My window is facing the street that where I came in from the front of the hotel.

  • Um So it's on Royal Street and when I first came in the room there was music playing and I thought it was just music coming from you know like the ceiling speakers or something.

  • So I was trying to find something like a device to turn it off like a remote and it turned on the tv instead.

  • So I was like wait a second.

  • Is that coming from outside?

  • So yeah this music, I don't know if you can hear it but it's coming from outside, I'll show you.

  • So that guy has been playing nonstop since I got here.

  • It's probably been At least 30 minutes, maybe an hour.

  • And it's very very clear.

  • So I didn't want to deal with that music.

  • I wasn't sure how long he was going to be out there.

  • I went downstairs to see if they could switch my room and they said that they only had two rooms, One room had no view and the other room was on the other end.

  • But he made it sound like it wasn't that great or it would be the same.

  • So I asked if I can go check it out.

  • He said they usually don't do that.

  • But he allowed it this time because of covid times, they said they don't really like to do that.

  • But He was nice enough and let me check out the room real quick.

  • So that was room 355 and one.

  • It was a lot smaller.

  • Well maybe not a lot, but I definitely noticed that it was a smaller room and it was dark.

  • Plus it was still facing the same side of the street.

  • I didn't hear the noise anymore or that guy playing the music.

  • But uh yeah, it was just, it was kind of looked dingy and dark to me.

  • So I was like, Okay, you know what, I'm just gonna deal with the music and just hope that he goes away by night.

  • I mean that's really the thing is I need to sleep at night.

  • He did assure me that nobody has complained before about this room regarding noise.

  • So I'm just crossing my fingers that he leaves before, I don't know, eight o'clock at night.

  • It's a little bit about this hotel.

  • It is a historic hotel from 18 86.

  • So it's been in the family for generations.

  • Um It's also known to have the famous carol silver bar, Which I think they created in the 1950s or early or late 1940s.

  • But it's this famous carousel bar that you kind of might have seen an instagram pictures, but the bar actually rotates and it looks like a carousel.

  • I'm hoping I could sit at the bar, but I don't know because I've heard that it gets busy and sometimes it's hard to grab a spot at the bar because only, you know, a few spots there that you can grab.

  • There's also an on site restaurant here as well.

  • Um They're known for Excellent brunch.

  • So I'm hoping to check that out as well.

  • Oh and this hotel is supposed to be haunted supposedly on the 14th floor.

  • Uh there has been some ghost action.

  • I don't necessarily believe in ghosts, but I do think it's fun that it's haunted.

  • I might go check out the 14th floor later and see what it's like.

  • Also when you go on the elevator, the 13th floor is missing.

  • So it goes from 12 to 14 15.

  • 15 is the highest floor apparently back in the day 13 was unlucky.

  • So they just took it out and this hotel also has a pool, a rooftop pool.

  • So I might go check that out.

  • It might be a little bit cold to go in Actually.

  • Maybe not that bad.

  • It's actually in the 70s, so it's pretty warm.

  • So yeah, in january, you can probably even go into the pool.

  • Okay, so let me give you a tour of my room.

  • All right.

  • I'm gonna start from the hallway.

  • So this is what the hallway looks like.

  • Very classic.

  • I'm in room 3 76.

  • Go in here and to the left is the bathroom.

  • So let's see what they have.

  • They have toiletries by gilchrist and Soames.

  • I hope I'm pronouncing that right?

  • I'm not really sure.

  • Um G and S.

  • I just say G and S.

  • So they got lotion.

  • What's back here in the box is a shower cap and hand sanitizer.

  • What else?

  • Vanity pack kit.

  • Has some more toiletries up here, decent looking shower and tub.

  • Some towels up there.

  • I actually don't like this curtain.

  • I don't like the design of it at all.

  • It reminds me of, I don't know, a retired home or something.

  • Across from the bathroom is a closet.

  • So there's an iron and ironing board.

  • There's two robes, extra blankets, toilet paper, tissue paper hangers, umbrella, and then that's my stuff down there that I'm storing.

  • I'll probably put the rest of my stuff in there later over here is a curing machine.

  • And they have some to go cups, a phone that's my stuff right there, some outlets.

  • And USB plugs as well on the other side as a nightstand, jeez, This door almost fell out.

  • Okay.

  • Is that a nice antique looking mirror right next to that is the tv a digital safe ice bucket.

  • And then underneath they have a fridge with some free water.

  • And the man that helped me get my luggage up here.

  • He said those two are free and he asked if I wanted any additional and I said not right now but I might get some later and here's some storage space and then this is where all my luggage is.

  • I'm going to put it all there for right now and then over here is a sitting area with a lamp.

  • And of course this is the view with that loud man down there still there.

  • Still loud and there's Miss kuma enjoying the bed.

  • She was already sleeping on it right But the bed looks very comfy.

  • This is a standard king room.

  • So I have a king sized bed With 45 pillows actually like these pillows with this symbol on there.

  • So that's about it for the room tour.

  • I do hope that man goes away.

  • That's my only complaint right now.

  • Everything else.

  • The front desk, they were very professional and courteous and even when I checked in as valet parking here So it's $50 a night to park, they park in the garage.

  • Yes that's very expensive but it's New Orleans so all the hotels around here charged around $50 a night for parking the place.

  • The only place I saw that charged less was the Drury Inn suites which was $35 a night I believe.

  • But the only reason why I didn't book that hotel was because I wasn't able to cancel.

  • I usually like to book hotels where I'm able to cancel at least you know two days beforehand because I'm not always sure my plans are going to go through.

  • So I want that flexibility.

  • So yeah, I will report back with how my state went Since I have some time right now.

  • But I would just go ahead and check out that haunted 14th floor.

  • Let's go see someone's gonna come with me for protection.

  • Okay, let's go.

  • As you can see there is no 13 kuma.

  • This is gonna be haunted.

  • Okay.

  • So what do you think kuma anything suspicious?

  • I mean it is like four o'clock in the afternoon so it's not that scary.

  • Anything in there.

  • Oh it's cold in here.

  • Very cold.

  • But that's probably just very conditioning.

  • These look like special rooms.

  • Okay, let's go.

  • You want to go over here?

  • This is a sweet after him onto leon.

  • Sweet.

  • Alright, let's go back.

  • What are you running to?

  • Alright, you ready?

  • Let's go downstairs.

  • Okay.

  • Okay, mm hmm You're not, you're not afraid of anything, nope.

  • So that was fun.

  • Just little adventure.

  • Okay, so the thing about this hotel is that there is no grassy area and the closest places Waldenberg part which is like four blocks away.

  • So we're trying to make it.

  • I mean she usually holds it in but wow, kind of a long walk to relieve yourself.

  • I'm sorry baby.

  • There's this little patch of grass or not even grass like weeds here.

  • She was circling it's like should I go there?

  • But she didn't.

  • Okay so we're almost there.

  • Okay.

  • Almost there baby.

  • Yeah, we didn't make it.

  • She had to go right here.

  • And that's a long walk from the hotel.

  • Yeah.

  • So if you keep going straight that hits the park but that is a way too long of a walk.

  • Sorry girl, you got to find some other areas like this for you.

  • So I did find a closer location.

  • This is the Bienville place.

  • There's a statue of the founder of New Orleans from 17 17.

  • There's a patch across here.

  • It's about a five minute walk from Hotel Monte leon.

  • Okay.

  • Mhm.

  • So overall I did like my stay here.

  • I felt like the I P every time I walked through the doors somebody would open the door for me and kuma also the doorman, the one that greeted me when I came in and helped me with my luggage, he remembered my name, so address me by my name and Koumas name.

  • I was so impressed that I did not expect him to remember Coleman's name to like old school service, you know what they used to do at luxury hotels.

  • So I did really appreciate that the hotel is just gorgeous in the lobby area with the chandeliers, the bar area, you know with the carousel bar is very cool but the only thing is if you want to get a seat there, good luck.

  • I mean there are people waiting for it because they just want to sit there.

  • I mean I was thinking about waiting for it but I was like you know what I saw it, it's cool, I don't need to sit at the bar.

  • So um there is another bar across the room and I just sat there and there's plenty of seating in that area and then I enjoyed some live music last night which was awesome.

  • They were a great band actually all the bands that I've seen around here that play on the streets or at restaurants.

  • They are excellent.

  • It just sounds so great.

  • But you know that's what new Orleans is known for is the music.

  • I also had the best sleep last night.

  • I mean I heard no noise.

  • The bed was so comfortable when I woke up this morning.

  • I was surprised that I slept for over eight hours.

  • I never do that definitely had some great sleep last night and there was no noise which I was so thankful for because I was scared about that guy that was out my window blasting his speakers.

  • And then right after that there was another band that came and started like playing loud music but they were all gone by the time it was like eight PM but downside is the pet relief area for dogs, if your dog likes to leave themselves in grass, like my baby, you're gonna have to walk a few blocks before you reach it.

  • I also don't like that.

  • It has to all be valet, but this is with a lot of the hotels that are in downtown areas like this, they have to get carried the luggage for you and I just had to wait for the car.

  • I don't know, it's just like a little bit of a hassle for me.

  • So another downside was the size of the counter area of this bathroom sink.

  • I quickly learned that I didn't have too much room so I kind of had to move some things around.

  • Like they had some cups there and I had to live that into the room so I can create more space for my stuff.

  • I'm not the end of the world, but just to let you know.

  • But I mean overall, I did really enjoy my stay here.

  • The location is great.

  • Your, you know, pretty much in the middle of french quarter, but not too close.

  • So you're not in all the midst of all that noise and ruckus.

  • Of course the service was awesome.

  • And again, I had a great night's rest.

  • So I hope this review helped you out.
