  • You can block numbers via the phone app

  • or the message app,

  • although the exact process

  • will depend upon your device model.

  • We will be using the LG V40 ThinQ phone for this demo.

  • Whichever device you have, the result will be the same.

  • They won't be notified,

  • and they won't know for sure that you've blocked them.

  • To block a number through the phone app,

  • open the phone app.

  • For this phone, you will need to be

  • on the dial or call logs page.

  • Tap the three dots in the top right corner,

  • select "Call settings,"

  • and then tap "Call blocking & Decline with message."

  • Tap "Blocked numbers."

  • Tap the small plus sign

  • to add the number you want to block.

  • A window pops up for you to choose how to add the number.

  • You can choose from one of your existing contacts,

  • choose from your call logs,

  • or enter a new number to be blocked.

  • To block a number through the message app,

  • open the message app.

  • Tap the three dots in the top right corner,

  • select "Settings,"

  • then tap "Message blocking."

  • Tap "Blocked numbers,"

  • then follow the previous steps of tapping the plus sign

  • and choosing how to add the number you want to block.

  • Note that when you block a number on the LG model,

  • you won't get calls or texts from them anymore,

  • but you retain the option to call or text them.

  • Also, if you want to block your own number

  • and hide your caller ID when calling others,

  • type *67 before the phone number you're dialing.
