- [Mikey] Oh, kindness. That means treating people

in a caring, thoughtful way.

- [Foley] Yeah, it does. And always with respect.

- [Mikey] I respect that.

- [Foley] Like the way we treat each other, Mikey.

Being kind makes friends feel good,

and it makes us feel good too.

- [Mikey] Oh, Foley, would you be so kind

as to make some sounds that make you think of kindness?

- [Foley] Oh, sure. Okay. Let's see. Oh, okay, okay.

Holding the door for someone can be kind.

(Door opens)

- [Mikey] Oh yes. It's so considerate

to hold the door for someone.

- [Foley] And the sound of sharing a happy song with someone

can also be kind.

(Foley whistles)

- [Mikey] Oh, that whistling makes me happy.

- [Foley] Oh, and what about this?

The sound of hugging my best friend, Mikey.

(Foley squeals)

- [Foley] And today's special guest is an expert hugger too.

Whether it's taking turns, sharing toys,

or reminding friends he loves them,

today's guest knows a lot about being kind. It's Elmo.

Elmo thinks kindness is the most important thing.

So Elmo, what do you think are some ways you can be kind?

- [Elmo] Well, Elmo thinks you could hold someone's hand

when they feel sad.

- I just noticed all these "keep the neighborhood clean"

volunteers cleaning up Sesame street.

- [Mikey] Oh, how thoughtful!

- [Oscar] Thoughtful?

They didn't give any of the trash to me.

(Trash falling)

- [Volunteer] Here you go, Oscar.

I saved the best trash for you.

- [Oscar] Huh? Well, what are you saying, kid?

You saying all this trash is for me?

Even this old, broken keyboard?
