  • - [Mikey] Oh, kindness. That means treating people

  • in a caring, thoughtful way.

  • - [Foley] Yeah, it does. And always with respect.

  • - [Mikey] I respect that.

  • - [Foley] Like the way we treat each other, Mikey.

  • Being kind makes friends feel good,

  • and it makes us feel good too.

  • - [Mikey] Oh, Foley, would you be so kind

  • as to make some sounds that make you think of kindness?

  • - [Foley] Oh, sure. Okay. Let's see. Oh, okay, okay.

  • Holding the door for someone can be kind.

  • (Door opens)

  • - [Mikey] Oh yes. It's so considerate

  • to hold the door for someone.

  • - [Foley] And the sound of sharing a happy song with someone

  • can also be kind.

  • They didn't give any of the trash to me.

  • Okay. This adorable kitten

  • (kitten meows)

  • was standing next to an empty bowl, and her tummy was going

  • (stomach grumbles)

  • - [Mikey] Aw, she was hungry.

  • - [Foley] Yes. Can you think of something kind you could do?

  • - [Elmo] Um, Elmo thinks he could give that pet kitten

  • (buzzer buzzes)

  • Some food and water.

  • (Bell dings)

  • - [Foley] Yes! Woohoo for you, Elmo!

  • Feeding a hungry pet kitten would be

  • a kind thing to do, and kindness counts. That's one.

  • (bell dings)

  • - [Elmo] Hooray!

  • - [Foley] Now that very same pet

  • (kitten meows)

  • Is feeling a little bit

  • (wind blows)

  • - [Mikey] Oh, that kitty sounds cold.

  • - [Foley] Can you think of something

  • kind you might do to help that kitty?

  • (clock ticks)

  • (buzzer buzzes)

  • - [Elmo] Elmo thinks he could give that kitten

  • a nice, soft blanket to curl up on.

  • - [Mikey] Oh, that's generous.

  • - [Foley] It's generous. And it's, kind!

  • (bell dings)

  • That's two, just one more kind thing to think of,

  • and you've won "Kindness Counts!"

  • (bell dings)

  • (Elmo and Mikey cheer)

  • Now that very same pet

  • (kitten meows)

  • Is so tired, but she just can't

  • (kitten snores)

  • - [Mikey] Uh, sleep?

  • - [Foley] Can you think of something kind

  • you might do to help?

  • (clock ticks)

  • - [Elmo] Oh, Elmo thinks he could sing that kitten

  • a lullaby.

  • - [Mikey] Oh. Or read the kitten a story,

  • or pet her under her chin.

  • - [Foley] Aww, do you know what this sound means?

  • (kitten purrs)

  • - [Elmo] Aww, the kitty is purring.

  • (bell dings)

  • - [Foley] That's right, because you named

  • three kinds of kindness.

  • (bell dings)

  • - [Foley] Well, and, actually four
