  • mm Hi everyone jennifer from Charles speech with your two for Tuesday.

  • We have two words of course today profit, a financial gain and profit, a person regarded as an inspired teacher by the will of God.

  • Both of these words are hama phones and that means that these words while they have different meanings and spellings are pronounced exactly the same.

  • So here are the words we have profit and profit.

  • So to say these words correctly.

  • We're going to think about two beats or two syllables in the word the stressed syllable.

  • The syllable that will be loudest, longest and highest in pitch is going to be syllable number one with the second syllable being the shorter, softer and lower and pit.

  • So to say the first syllable prah.

  • We're going to say that syllable with that open short aw sound.

  • To do that.

  • We're going to start with the P.

  • Actually let's start back there.

  • So to do this lips together, I like to have my tongue in the position that I will have it for the our before I start that P.

  • Sound.

  • So to get your tongue in that position the tip of your tongue will either be pointed down with the back of your tongue pulled high up or the front of your tongue will be flipped back away from your front teeth.

  • Again.

  • The back of the tongue is pulled up high in the back of the mouth, almost touching if not touching the roof of the mouth.

  • Then when you start the P.

  • With your lips closed as you open your lips, your tongue is already for that are.

  • And then you won't get that sound.

  • That extra vowel sound in between the P.

  • And the R.

  • Okay so get your tongue ready for the R.

  • Are and put your lips together.

  • Uh huh.

  • Uh huh.

  • Uh Already moved into that.

  • Uh Move there by opening your mouth wide.

  • Your tongue is going to be in a very similar position.

  • If the tip of your tongue is down for your are the tip of your tongue will be down back of your tongue is pulled up for that short uh sound.

  • Keep your mouth nice and open.

  • Do not pucker your lips around your lips that will make it sound more like an O.

  • Sound.

  • And we want it to be the ah So let's put this all together.

  • Uh huh.

  • Uh huh bra.

  • And then we're going to end with foot.

  • And that is the short off sound in there.

  • We are going to start with the F.

  • Sound to do that.

  • Think of smiling lips.

  • Your lips are pulled back a little bit and the air is going to move out of your mouth.

  • Could be gently biting the inside or outside of that bottom lip to make sure that air keeps moving out.

  • Just keep your mouth open and relaxed.

  • Tongue is neutral for the uh, super short vowel and end with the tea by touching the tip of their tongue to the back of the top, front teeth.

  • And then just gently pulling that down in the air, just puffs out.

  • People will inevitably ask me, can I say fit or fat?

  • You sure can.

  • The key is is that at the end of this word, you just want that to be the shorter and the unstrung est of those two syllables.

  • So I can say profit with the short, uh, profit with the short I.

  • Or profit with the short E.

  • And if I say them quickly and unstructured, you have profit, profit, profit.

  • And they all sound very, very similar.

  • So again, if you've been watching my videos, you know, I'm all about just being clear.

  • It is not about perfection.

  • There really is no perfect.

  • Just be clear.

  • And to do that, do that second syllable unstrung.

  • Give those all the tri profit, profit, profit.

  • And let me go slowly again.

  • Problem fit cross foot profit, profit, profit, profit, profit.

  • And now for a sentence, the Prophet advised his followers to use their profit for good works.

  • So give it a try.

  • I know people are going to notice the difference.
