Iron sharpens iron, and I think that when you have excuse me when you have somebody in front of your face and they're ready to take your job potentially, uh, you need to be elite.

I think the only read, the only reason there should ever be a situation or condition like that is when you're elite.

When you are a leader, if you're Tom Brady and you're you're in New England, you should not have competition for your starting job.

I understand that if you're Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay, you should not have competition for your starting job.

I understand that because there's levels to this and you know that that's not Jalen hurts.

Thus far, one and three is a starter, completed 52% of its past.

The six touchdowns, four interceptions we saw.

I think that we have to remember that what really resonates with us is the fact that Carson Wentz was so awful that Jalen Hurts was a breath of fresh air.

It wasn't that Jalen Hurts was so terrific.

So lights out.

It's that Carson Wentz was so awful, and that's really what it was.

And I know that Jalen Hurts had some good moments, and I thought he showed a lot of potential.

I love the fact that he's getting an opportunity to lead this franchise, and I definitely have no problem with the Philadelphia Eagles saying this is our guy.

Until further notice, he gotta go into camp and show us.

But this is how we feel about him right now.

I have no problem with that, you know, particularly if it comes from the coach.

But for the owner to put down that edict.

I have a problem with that because essentially what you're doing is telling your subordinates.

Look, man, this is who we're going with.

I don't give a damn what y'all say.

I don't give a damn what your football acumen tells you.

Your football knowledge tells you This is the direction we're going in period.

Well, obviously, you could always change his mind if Jalen hurts.

Stick up sticks up the joint, which I don't believe what happened.

But the point is, I don't like that edict coming from the owner.

Had it came from the coach Max, I'd have no reaction to it whatsoever makes perfect sense.

But the owners saying that tells me that the owners making those football decisions all right before the coach and the G M has had an opportunity to, and that's where my discomfort comes from.

I would say I'm I'm I agree with Jeffrey Lori.

I don't think there should be a competition.

Let me define what that means.

Though Jalen hurts, it's his job to lose, and furthermore, he has some rope.

In other words, we we want to see as a franchise.

If we can develop this guy, we think there's something there.

So what does no competition mean?

It means you don't bring in someone like Fitzpatrick.

You know, you don't bring someone in who really might take your job.

And there's a quarterback controversy right now.

Of course, you have a quarterback depth chart.

Of course, you know, no one owns a job right if they if they just can't get it done.

But the point is, let's see if we have something here.

And Jeffrey Lurie, who not all that long ago was considered one of the better owners in American team sports, spent a lot of that credibility botching the whole Carson Wentz situation.

But I like what he's what he's doing here.

I think that's right.

Look at Jalen Hurts Stephen.

A look at what they did with this guy.

They have Carson Wentz.

They need a receiver, they choose not to, and they just signed him to a huge deal.

But Wentz had regressed in the second half of 2019, just like I said he did.

And everyone said I was crazy to the point that the team was like, uh, we need to draft another quarterback And they looked at Hertz and they liked him enough.

Think about this.

They didn't trade.

They didn't use that on a on a wide out or trade up to get a wide out or use him to trade for DeAndre Hopkins or someone like that or whoever.

They didn't do that.

They stayed with Jalen Hurts and said, We're using the number two draft pick on this guy because we don't We're not sure about Carson Wentz, but we really like him.

You know what he did when he took over that team.

The team responded.

Even remember the Arizona game go back and look at that game against Arizona.

Well, really well for his second professional start in the NFL.

For a bad team who didn't have an offensive line at the time, member Carson Wentz is getting sacked all the time.

He's getting hit.

No.

One's open boy he was moving the chains hurts wasn't perfect in that game.

Is the second game.

There's a second game, 24 44 But he was.

You could see flashes in that game.

We go.

I want to see if you can develop this guy.

That's what they're saying.

And also, when you do that, what you're saying is we're using all our resources to put the best team we can around this kid.

We're not.

We're not looking for another quarterback, not yet.

We're gonna find out about him.

I like it.

Well, listen, you gotta also remember that it wasn't just about Carson Wentz ability or lack thereof.

It was because of some of the things that you highlighted in the sense of liquid.

Oh, highlighted in his article, along with others in terms of the relationship Carson Wentz had with ownership.

As a result, what he didn't have a coach, Doug Peterson, UH, Doug Peterson's absence of faith in his audibly in the line of scrimmage.

He wasn't listening to instructions.

He was being a bit hard headed.

So again, that's not about ability.

That's about relationships, too.

And so, in the in the case of the Philadelphia Eagles, you might have made that call.

You might have made that decision because you knew that it was just untenable, and you would have to move on from this guy if that kind of behavior continued.

That's entirely different than saying, You know what?

Jalen Hurts is a quarterback we simply can't miss.

We can't.

We can't take it.

Do you think there's something in that when you watch her?

Do you think there's something there?

Yes, me, too, In terms of his athletic, in terms of his athletic ability.

I I have always questioned Jalen hurts ability to throw the football accurate, and I'm consistent College back to college.

You know how I've been about camp, I think cans a phenomenal athlete.

He took a little bit too much punishment, which is why I'm worried about him now.

But cans of a phenomenal athlete.

But even when can was an M V p.

I was never a narrow with debating ability.

Laurie is basically saying we think there's something there and we're going to give it a real chance to see if that's the case.

We're not gonna have him on a string like a yo yo.

We're gonna give it a shot with this guy.
