  • Resident Evil has definitely gone through an identity crisis. Fans of the series had

  • no idea what is was because the series itself didn’t know what it was. Is it a tense survival

  • horror game or is it a fast paced action shooter? Resident Evil 6 tries to solve this by going

  • with, heck it can be both and tries to give the player multiple ways of getting the Resident

  • Evil they want. For everyone wanting a return to the old style, with limited ammo and more

  • running from fights than looking for them, well it didn’t go that far. RE 6 tries to

  • tip-toe the line, and in my opinion, it succeeds very well.

  • Resident Evil continues the main series with a major entry. Everything about this is game

  • is bigger than life, from the story, the characters and the gameplay. The game is practically

  • three games in one, with plenty of additional content. There are three campaigns, each with

  • their own protagonist and each plays very differently from one another. There is Leon

  • Kennedy, who must survive an outbreak of the new C-virus in a small college town. Chris

  • Redfield, who is battling memories and a bioterrorism attack in a fictional Chinese city. And Jake

  • Muller, the son of Albert Wesker who must escape authorities and is maybe the key to

  • solving the whole mess. Each protagonist comes with an AI partner, and own style of gameplay.

  • Leon’s in more paced and gripping while Chris’s campaign is more intense and action

  • packed. But in all of them you will be doing a majority of shooting.

  • The gameplay has seen some big changes that make it feel more complete. For one, you can

  • now move while aiming, but you don’t move so fast that it turns into a military shooter.

  • Also, the co-op mechanics are greatly improved. You no longer share ammo with your partner,

  • so you don’t cringe every time they just blast away and never hit anything. Also their

  • AI has been fixed to make them actually hold their own.

  • And everything looks absolutely incredible. This is how Resident Evil games should look,

  • dark and creepy, making that next corner even that more intense.

  • Resident Evil 6 is going to be one of the most polarizing entry in the long series.

  • Some will love the multiple campaigns and the touches of survival horror added back

  • in. While other are going to feel there is not enough horror and this is too much of

  • a shooter. While it may not reach the greatness of Resident Evil 2 or RE 4, it is still one

  • of the more enjoyable ones of the series.
