whirled to spin around and world the earth these words are pronounced exactly the same

way um i did find a few weeks back and the reason i'm doing this lesson when i worked

with a student was that just seeing the word world spelled this way helped them pronounce

the word world spelled this way and i think often times with a lot of my students spelling

really confuses their brain and they want to pronounce things a different way just based

on the spelling and the letters when we should really be thinking about sounds so let's break

these sounds down and see if we can all say this word correctly okay so we're going to

start with the w sound www and to do this you can see that my lips are puckered and

my tongue is going to just be flat in my mouth www

next we're going to move to the er and to do this you can see my lips are more open

i keep my lips in a square tense shape you do not want them to be puckered because the

w is puckered so again

www er you can see my mouth opens it's square intense the tip of my tongue will move from

flat on my mouth and then it will either point down or flip back whichever works for you

the back of that tongue is going to be pulled up next we're going to move to the l sound

lll and to do this tip of the tongue touches the back of the top front teeth i'm going

to talk about lips again for the l sound i want you to think about pulling your lips

back almost like you're smiling okay so we're gonna have

www er lll you can see how my lips change there we're going to keep our lips and that

same position our tongue is going to be still touching our teeth and then we're going to

pull it down for the d okay let's put that all together nice and slowly
