Hi, there, Jennifer from Tarle Speech with your pronunciation question today's
question is a confusing word pair actually three words so not a pair three
the words are found discovered fund a sum of money and fun enjoyable so let's
have some fun and learn how to pronounce fund and found you've got a bonus
sentence there how about that okay so let's start with the words they all
begin with the same sound so let's start with that so all of these words start
with the ffff sound to make the F sound air is going to be coming out of your mouth
and you can gently bite the inside bottom lip or the outside of the bottom
lip but you just have to make sure that you leave some space for the air to move
continuously out of the sides of the mouth do not put your lips together or
this is going to sound like a p and we do not want that we want you should be able
to feel the air on your hand when you're saying this sound next let's look at
that short uh sound this is very easy for the short uh sound that we hear and fun and
fund all you're going to do is relax your mouth have your mouth slightly open your
tongue is just neutral in your mouth and you're gonna say a short uh now to end
word number one fun all you're going to do is then touch the tip of your tongue
to the back of your top front teeth and the air is going to come out of your
nose fun fun fun doing this to exaggerate so that you know to make this
sound a little bit longer oftentimes my students drop ending sounds all together
and we need to make sure that you say that sound and if you make the sound a
little bit longer or make an effort to do that usually that fixes the problem
for the word fund it's basically the word fun and then after holding your
tongue behind the back of your top front to you for that n you are gonna pull it down
and turn your voice box on for the D fund
fund fund so we have fun fund fun fund okay you know how to say this nd nnnd so
touch the tip of the tongue and then pull it down air moves out of the nose
then it switches to out of the mouth we also know how to say the F sound so
let's focus on the vowel and the vowel here is going to be the ow
sound ow we're gonna start with really wide open circle mouth shape and that's
going to help us get our tongue low in the mouth with the back of the tongue
pulled up ow and then we're going to move to a pucker and in doing that our
tongue is going to come from the bottom of the mouth with the back pulled up and
it's gonna kind of be more flat in the mouth ow ow ow let's put it all together
found found found so we have fun fund found found fund fun and now your
