I'm just gonna hit the record button.

We're just gonna go with it.

I've been sitting here for the last five or 10 minutes trying to figure out the perfect way to start this, but there really is no perfect way to start something like this.

I wasn't even gonna make a video today.

Today is not a recording.

That was like there's this construction and everything going on.

But I've been getting so many messages and tweets asking about what things are like right here in Japan with regards to the Corona virus.

And I figured since for many of you, US creators or us living here in Japan are kind of your your source or your go to I would kind of share my experiences.

Now, if you've just stumbled on this video, I cannot be clear enough about this point.

I do not have any special information.

In fact, I'm gonna go out of my way to avoid sharing fax and everything because I very, very strongly believe that each and every person needs and should do their own research, especially if they have a trip coming up to Japan.

And I know a lot of people's trips are being affected.

I've had friends who have cancelled their trips to Japan.

I know a lot of people right now are up in the year.

What should I do with my trip?

And it is a really tough.

It's a tough topic.

It's a difficult choice to make and I've avoided it up until this point because A.

I'm not a doctor and I don't know about the Corona virus.

I don't know what path it's going to take or how big it's going to get her.

If everything's just going to go away.

And I didn't want to pollute the pool of information that is already out there and to be frank with you, it's just been kind of disturbing to see the number of people kind of capitalizing on this so that they can get views.

And, you know, you know, I'm not going to monetize this.

I'm not even gonna probably leave it up on the channel.

But for those of you who have questions here and now, for those of you who are thinking of coming to Japan or just want to Nome or I guess this video, it is for you.

I'm gonna share a little bit of what it's been like a little bit of, I guess, my experience, which is very, very limited.

But you know, I am right here.

I'm reading about it.

I'm seeing the effects of it every single day.

In little thing, it's like, for example, it's getting incredibly difficult to buy something like hand sanitizer, which in these situations is kind of to be expected.

One of the first things I did when this hit is I I knew I knew that there was a chance that things could blow up and it would get really hard to get food and sanitizer all of that stuff.

So I kind of I stocked up.

I stocked up.

But for me, obviously keeping my hands clean has been a really big part of this.

I know masks are another hot topic.

Oh boy, are they a hot topic?

It's one of those things, you know.

They're everywhere is running out of masks, and then it's all divided.

There are these people who are like masks are honestly, If you're going to use a mascot, do make sure that you know how to use it and that you're using it right?

There is a right way and a wrong way to use a mask and just just yet, do your research.

And there is a great deal of useful information out there on how to properly use and dispose of masks and what precautions you can take.

Ah, link some of it in the description box, but I think videos like this are also a really, really good source for people who want to share useful information.

And so I want to open up the comments section of this video.

If you have a really useful article, a link, anything like that, feel free to leave it in there.

But anyway, as for what it's been like here in Japan, it's been escalating quite a bit.

In fact, I have made a point of just not watching Japanese TV anymore.

There's been a whole flow of information from evacuees coming in.

There's the situation with the cruise ship where I feel bad for everybody on that cruise ship.

By the way, can you imagine being on that cruise ship pretty much knowing that if you don't have the Corona virus, there's a very good chance that you're gonna end up with the Corona virus.

It is not.

It is not the kind of place that anybody in cases have been popping up here and there.

In Japan.

It feels like a really obvious statement to say something like, Well, things they're going to get worse before they get better.

But it kind of feels like we might again.

I don't even want to say it feels like we might be heading in that direction because for all I know, tomorrow, this whole thing could just be it's done is probably not gonna be tomorrow, obviously, but Justus likely is.

Things could really get out of hand first, and it's leaving a lot of people with a lot of questions.

Tourism has dropped massively in Japan.

Japan's honestly going through a little bit of a panic phase right now because I think it's something like, What was it?

One point?

Let me look this up.

It was at 1.6 billion.

Who there it is, Yeah, It's saying that Japan may lose $1.2 billion not yet billion dollars in tourism revenue due to the Corona virus outbreak.

Japan has been suffering from over tourism in one way, for example, Kyoto has been absolutely inaccessible to so many people for so long.

It has just been so crowded.

Killed was actually running an ad campaign.

Right now, it's like Come and visit beautiful, empty Kyoto and they're showing all these shots of like, This is empty and this is empty and this is And then, obviously there's the big question of the Olympics and the impact that this would have on the Olympics.

And this is massive, right?

Because they've already had enough problems with Japanese summer.

They had to, like, move the marathon up to Sapporo, and they have to refund people's tickets for that.

And it's just it's It's a hot mess as it is.

But you toss in the Corona virus to that, and all of a sudden people are worried.

Well, isn't going to be is going to be gone by then.

How many people are gonna cancel it if I had to put it into words?

It just feels like everything right now is just a giant floating question mark.

That being said as a person who's here in Japan right now, am I personally scared or worried about the Corona virus.

This is a question that I get really, really often, and I'd be stupid to be like, No, I'm not afraid of this at all.

That would just be absolutely asi nine and ridiculous.

I'm not afraid of it, to the point where I'm not going outside.

If there's a hand washing station or a sanitizing station, and they've set up a lot of them around Tokyo now, where they just have the alcohol sanitizers you can use to clean your hands like I touch nothing if I get on a train, I do not hold on to the polls.

I just not.

But honestly, when it comes down to cold and flu season, I tend to take most of these precautions anyway.

I avoid touching stuff.

I keep my hands clean, all of that.

All of that applies.

As for you, if you're coming to Japan, have been getting a whole lot of what do you think I should do with my trip?

And I said it before and I'll say it again.

I don't have those answers for you.

The only person who can really make that decision is you and obviously, person to person there are gonna be a lot of different determining factors.

What information have you taken in?

Who are you traveling with?

Are you traveling with your grand parents?

Are you traveling with Children?

Are you yourself older or younger?

Are you really help?

There s so many factors to take in and there's no one piece of blanket advice that I can give that will be the best for everybody.

But at the very very least, I'm hoping that this video here, the very limited stuff that I have left in the description box, the links and information that people have shared in the comments section and by the way, whether I've shared it or whether you have read it in the comments section, always try to fact check.

There is a lot of contradicting information out there.

As I said, the mask thing being just one example of it with all that being said, while I do believes strongly in safety, especially if you're traveling with somebody else and you're not just making the decision for yourself.

I don't believe in fearmongering and basing all of your decisions on fears comparatively to a place like China.

Japan has not seen that many cases at the time of the making of this video.

But again, as I said, everything could change toe moral.

This is where I struggle because I love to wrap up the video nice and needed the end.

Nice little bow, some kind of useful piece of information or solution or something.

But there is none.

There's nothing but a big question mark off course for myself, for everyone here in Japan and if you're planning on traveling here, probably for you as well.

But at the very least, I wanted to give you just one mawr angle, one more little peek hole into the situation so that maybe you'll be inspired enough to do the research and find the information that best matches you.

And that that is the best bow that I can put on this entire thing is.

Do the research.

Find what works for you, communicate with people down in the comments section, see what other people's takes are.

Who knows?

Maybe people in the comments section are in Japan right now.

Just make sure that you take everything you hear and see with a grain of salt and do your own research I feel like I've probably said that, like, 100 times throughout this little video, that that's it.
