  • In this video I will cover the leaked specifications of the Fuji XT4.

  • Intro

  • It's Simon Yates from the Ordinary Filmmaker.

  • If you are new here, make sure you click the subscribe button, and all the links to everything

  • I have talked about in this video are in the description below.

  • Fuji Rumors has just reported the leaked specifications of the XT4.

  • A big thanks to Fuji Rumors for allowing me to share these screen shots with you.

  • There are several bug surprises in this video.

  • One big surprise is the X tea four comes with the same sensor as the X tea three.

  • It has the same 26 megapixels, and costs sixteen hundred dollars.

  • At first, this seems to underwhelm and will be attacked from those that never liked Fuji.

  • But dig deeper, and you will find a refined version of the x tea three and key missing

  • features brought to the X tea four.

  • It still has the dual SD card slots, full sensor coverage, but we can now shoot photos

  • in Tiff.

  • That's nice, Tiff uses lossless compression.

  • A nice refinement to the camera.

  • We get the same bit depth as the X tea three, but if we use TIFF, we get a choice of eight

  • or sixteen bit.

  • Yes, we still have 26 megapixels, but the image quality has increased significantly

  • with sixteen bit TIFF images.

  • Sure, the Canon ninety D has 32 megapixels, but twenty six is more than adequate for the

  • ordinary filmmaker and photographer, especially if the quality has increased.

  • Another big surprise.

  • Well, this is one of those expected features that would have critics, including myself

  • give Fuji a hard time for leaving out, again.

  • The X tea four comes with in body image stabilization.

  • This is the single most, complained about missing feature in the X tea three.

  • This opens up a whole new world of opportunities to video shooters.

  • In body image stabilization provides 6.5 stops with five axis stabilization.

  • That is one stop higher than the XH two.

  • Battery life is improved providing five hundred shots versus three hundred and ninety shots

  • in the X tea three.

  • Six hundred shots is possible in economy mode.

  • Phase detection sensitivity has improved from minus three ev in the X tea three to minus

  • six in the X tea four.

  • That is another wow.

  • Better low light performance.

  • Another plus for both video and photo shooters.

  • We don't see any changes to the autofocus specs.

  • The X tea four provides the same 425 autofocus points in AFS and AFC modes.

  • But what has changed in software?

  • We just don't know.

  • Continuous shooting has improved with fifteen frames per second mechanical, up from eleven

  • frames per second in the X Tea Three.

  • No changes in electronic shutter with twenty frames full sensor readout and thirty frames

  • crop sensor read out.

  • The crop sensor crop is still one point two five.

  • The buffer has increased.

  • At eight frames per second, we now get 200 Jpeg, forty nine compressed raw, and thirty

  • nine uncompressed raw.

  • And now for what we have been waiting for, the video specs.

  • The X Tea Four comes with Four Kay Sixty with all basic frames rates.

  • Yep, the same as the X Tea Three.

  • But there is an improvement in Ten Eighty.

  • In Ten Eighty, we now get up to two hundred forty frames per second, but there is a time

  • limit of three minutes.

  • Drop down to one twenty frames per second and we get six minutes of recording time.

  • This sounds disappointing doesn't it.

  • Or does it?

  • For most of us, we don't shoot slow motion for more than a minute at a time.

  • Three minutes is pretty generous.

  • Six minutes recording is plenty in one twenty.

  • No other hybrid camera has these slow motion specs right now.

  • But the specs don't tell the full story.

  • In my desired capabilities, I am looking for one twenty frames per second in Ten Eighty

  • with autofocus.

  • I also want high detail.

  • This is why I don't like reviewing specs.

  • Is One Twenty and Two Forty detailed enough?

  • Does each mode come with continuous phase detect autofocus?

  • We will know next week for sure when Fuji officially announces the X Tea Four.

  • I have to apologize.

  • This is not the review I wanted to deliver.

  • I hate reviewing specifications.

  • They do not tell the full story.

  • In this video, I boldly stated that the X Tea Four camera would be an amazing camera

  • if they just gave us in body image stabilization, a flippy screen, and provided general improvements

  • across all desired capabilities.

  • This is the same graphic I used in that video.

  • Look how strong the X Tea Four appears against an already very powerful X Tea Three.

  • We did get in body image stabilization, and that is huge for the X Tea Four.

  • We should be celebrating this enhancement.

  • But wait, there's more.

  • We get hints that this camera is about providing overall improvements to all capabilities.

  • We get TIFF.

  • TIFF is a well known format offering up to 16 bit colour depth.

  • That's a big improvement over 14 bit raw as TIFF is a lossless format.

  • Would you rather see Heif?

  • Heif is limited to ten bit.

  • We get an big jump in image capture speeds.

  • Fifteen frames per second up from eleven frames.

  • This is the territory of the Canon 1DX mark III and the Nikon D6.

  • That's huge.

  • Sure these are powerful fast action full frame sports cameras.

  • But they are huge, expensive and not designed for the ordinary filmmaker and photographer.

  • The X Tea Four's buffer has increased in size.

  • We now get 200 jpeg files before filling at eight frames per second.

  • The Canon ninety d's buffer can only handle 58 jpegs before filling.

  • The LCD has more resolution with One Point 6 Million Dots versus One Million dots in

  • the X Tea Three.

  • And of course, we now get a flippy screen instead of that articulating contraption in

  • the X Tea Three.

  • When we first look at the specifications, they underwhelm us, but when we look at the

  • capabilities, the X Tea Four is an amazing camera.

  • It's powerful.

  • Sure, it does not have 6K or 8K, but honestly, how many of us would actually use these resolutions?

  • When I published this video, many of you commented that you have no need for these resolutions

  • and would like buy the X Tea Three at a discount once the X Tea Four is announced.

  • At Sixteen Ninety Nine, the X Tea Four is perfect for the ordinary filmmaker.

  • But lets not get too carried away.

  • We need to see what is behind each capability, how each specification actually works.

  • Did Canon's cripple hammer sneak in the back door while the fuji folks were sleeping

  • and bash the prototypes?

  • I'll reserve my judgement until next week when we have the official announcement early

  • in the morning of February 26.

  • Ignore those that are calling this a minor upgrade.

  • The X Tea Four is a powerful camera.

  • It provides high detail in Ten Eighty and Four Kay.

  • It does two hundred and forty frames per second slow motion, sixty frames per second four

  • kay.

  • We have lens and in body image stabilization.

  • We have access to a large lens library in video thanks to Ibis.

  • We have focus peaking, zebras and can record video in h two six five.

  • We have time lapse recording and can produce high quality sixteen bit photos up to fifteen

  • frames per second mechanical and thirty frames electronic.

  • It has dual SD card slots, and we finally got the flippy screen.

  • This is clearly a win.

  • It looks like this camera could put Camera Conspiracies out of business.

  • It looks like Casey now has his perfect camera.

  • However, It's impossible to tell if the autofocus system has been improved from the

  • specs.

  • If they have improved the thickness of the lines in focus peaking.

  • While the same sensor and processor are used, this does not mean autofocus has not been

  • improved.

  • Software and hardware work together to produce the capabilities we need.

  • If the X Tea Four has improved subject tracking, and use of the LCD, the this will be a top

  • camera for the ordinary filmmaker

  • in 2020.

  • Thanks for watching.

  • See

  • you soon

In this video I will cover the leaked specifications of the Fuji XT4.
