  • Hey guys! Its Mikan and this is probably the plainest you have ever seen my hair.

  • I'm genuinely someone who loves to do things to their hair.

  • I dont really like to leave it plain.

  • Even if I had it like this, I would probably have like something in it to make it more interesting.

  • I've just always been that kind of person and I think it's because when I wasn't doing

  • my hair straightening I had really curly hair that was really hard to deal with

  • so I had to learn a lot of different ways to keep it kind of out of my face.

  • I do get bored very quickly of the same styles so I change it up quite a lot!

  • Recently in particular, I've been quite inspired by Kpop hairstyles.

  • I find that they're usually so playful and fun and it's a really nice way to keep your hair

  • out of your face during the summer because no one wants their sticky hair on the back of their neck.

  • It's very frustrating.

  • So today I decided to show you a few hairstyles that I like to do

  • and in particular, the ones I've been doing more recently.

  • I think that they're quite cutesy and summery and "Kpopey" ...

  • Not a word (lol)

  • So I really hope that you'll find this video helpful!

  • Especially if you're someone like me who loves to do different things to their hair!

  • But, before we get started, I would very much like to thank Amino for sponsoring this ...

  • I would very much like to thank Amino for sponsoring this video.

  • If you have not yet heard of Amino, it is basically this app that is designed

  • to help you find different communities!

  • What I mean by communities is, for example, if you're someone who's really into

  • Japanese fashion then you can find people who are really interested into Japanese Fashion and you guys

  • can post together and talk about the things you like together.

  • And then, for example, if you're someone who is really into Kpop, then you can really easily find

  • other communities of people who are also interested in Kpop!

  • You can post videos and blog posts and share your favorite things.

  • It's a really great place to meet new people and obsess over the things you like!

  • In fact, I actually have my own little Amino so if you're interested I'm gonna link it down below for you.

  • On my Amino I'm going to be posting a little hair tutorial on how to do my Sailor Moon inspired hairstyle

  • so if you wanna watch that, then I'm gonna link my Amino down below!

  • Just check it out on there and hopefully you'll be able to find some communities that you can get involved with!

  • All that aside, let's get on with the video!

  • Ok, first thing's first

  • the fringe

  • So I decided to leave this hair tutorial right before my haircut

  • while my fringe is quite long just because this is a Kpop inspired hair tutorial

  • and I find that doing Kpop inspired fringes and stuff is a lot more easy when your fringe is a bit longer

  • because usually I like to have it quite short and chopy.

  • I'm just gonna go ahead and tie the rest of my hair back so that it doesn't get in the way.

  • As you can see here, my fringe is quite long

  • and in my face

  • so what we need to do is

  • we need to grab our straighteners and all we need to do is

  • take our fringe into the straighteners

  • and

  • curl the straighteners in towards your face as we pull

  • and as you can see,

  • it kind of becomes rounder and fluffier.

  • It's a lot easier to work with like this because you can kind of do a lot of different things with it.

  • For example

  • If you just part it in the middle, and turn it towards itself

  • You've got the heart fringe!

  • Which I find is one of my favorite styles.

  • To keep it this way, I suggest using a lot of hairspray and, in particular,

  • putting the hairspray in between your fingertips and pinching the middle of the heart

  • but yeah. A lot of people often ask me how to do this fringe and as you can see, its super easy!

  • Literally all I did was; I curled my fringe

  • and then

  • turned it

  • in like this.

  • but yeah. there'a a lot of different ways that we can play with it when

  • its like this.

  • The way I usually have it is, I usually part it down the middle like this.

  • And then

  • I can kind of play around with it like this.

  • This is probably how I would have it on like, a day-to-day basis.

  • But it's really easy to play around with so I will be showing you some different ways to do it

  • as we do the different hairstyles.

  • If that makes sense

  • Lets get on with our first hairstyle!

  • Ok so the first hairstyle we're going to do is this kind of

  • I actually don't even know what I'm supposed to call this hairstyle like ...

  • uh .. balls ?

  • uh .. mm.. I should probably not call it that.

  • Does that hairstyle have like, a name or something ?

  • I find this hairstyle really fun because you can kind of play around with the hair bands to give

  • it a different kind of look.

  • So today, because we're doing a colorful, summery look

  • we're going to choose colorful, summery hair bands!

  • So you will need little colorful hairbands like these.

  • What I like to do is I like to match the colors on one side with the other.

  • So for example, if we start with

  • blue hair bands then we do blue hair bands on both sides!

  • So lets start with that!

  • I'm going to split my hair in the middle like this.

  • And then, right at the front I'm going to leave a few strands

  • like that

  • and then tie

  • half of it up.

  • You can use a hairbrush if you want to.

  • I like to tie it quite high up on my head

  • and then grab the blue hairband

  • and just tie it like this!

  • Like so!

  • And lets do the same on the other side.

  • Like so!

  • Then we're going to grab another color.

  • This time we're going to do

  • let's do

  • yellow!

  • And just kind of pull it

  • Maybe around here.

  • Just tie it

  • around here and then just pull it

  • out

  • like this.

  • So it becomes nice and rounded. Do you see that?

  • I feel like this could be a look.

  • Next, we'll do pink!

  • Again, same thing.

  • Tie it a little bit lower.

  • Pull it out.

  • And then, the last one. Which color should we do?

  • Let's go back to blue!

  • Great! As you can see it's quite a playful look!

  • Now, at the front, we've got these parts

  • All we're gonna do is, we're gonna take these parts

  • and curl them

  • a bit.

  • Like this.

  • You can do another layer beneath.

  • All you need to do is

  • spin it around like this.

  • Do you see ?

  • And it makes a little curl!

  • And here we have it!

  • Our first hairstyle!

  • I feel like this hairstyle, since the hairband themselves are kind of like decorations

  • you dont really need to add more to it but

  • if you want to, you're more than welcome to!

  • Maybe add a hairband or something like that.

  • I would personally just leave it like this.

  • Ok!

  • Next we're going to do, what I like to call a Kpop classic!

  • And that is these loose, low braids.

  • I've seen them for years and years in Kpop.

  • I think they're such a classic!

  • This one's a really easy one.

  • We just need to split our hair in the middle like this.

  • I like to tie this end that I'm not using at the time

  • just because I find it a lot easier.

  • Then we're going to

  • separate again a little bit at the front.

  • And then spit it into three.

  • Now I find it really important with this hairstyle

  • that you dont split it into three from the side

  • like this.

  • But that you do it from

  • the back like this.

  • Also I find it to be most important that

  • every section that you get is the same length.

  • So one of them might be a little bit bigger than the others.

  • But its ok as long as they're the same length.

  • And then from that point on it's just a simple braid!

  • Take the furthest one out and put it in the middle (x2)

  • Middle

  • Middle

  • Middle

  • until you reach the end.

  • I personally like to do this hairstyle with a

  • little, very thin, barely noticeable, kind of hair band.

  • And then we've got our first little braid!

  • And not let's

  • take this out

  • and do the same on the other side.

  • Ok! Now that you've got two simple braids like these

  • you need to start loosening them out.

  • So what I mean by that is pulling

  • little strands of it

  • out like this.

  • To make it kind of, more fluffy.

  • As you can see it makes quite the difference.

  • Usually you'd want it to be more fluffy at the top

  • and then, not really at the bottom.

  • Until you get this kind of, big at the top, small at the bottom

  • kind of shape!

  • The trick is to pull very thin strands

  • so they stick out very slightly like this.

  • very thin strands.

  • Once you're done

  • pulling them out normally

  • until you have this kind of messy

  • pigtail look!

  • Again, I like to have it nice and curly at the front.

  • And this is the basic Kpop style ... pigtails? Braids?

  • This one is quite fun to accessorize!

  • For example, it looks really cute with these

  • little heart shaped sunglasses.

  • Super summery! Super cutesy!

  • Love it!

  • The next one is one that I did quite recently on my Instagram which got a lot of positive

  • feedback! So I'm gonna go ahead and do that one!

  • Its these cute little ... German style braids?

  • I wanna say?

  • It reminds me of some kind of children's drawing of like

  • what German people look like.

  • Do you know what I mean?

  • So let's start again by pulling your hair

  • into two.

  • And just tying one end so it doesn't bother you.

  • Here we're going to go ahead and tie a low ponytail.

  • Then we're gonna go ahead and braid this ponytail.

  • Do kind of a tight braid.

  • And then once we get to the end,

  • again we're going to tie with ...

  • once again with these very, very thin, kind of, hair bands.

  • Now we just have to kind of pull this up.

  • and

  • pin it into place!

  • You only need to use a couple of pins to kind of keep it in place.

  • And here we've got the first one! And we're just going to do the exact same thing

  • to the other side!

  • As you can see, we now have these round

  • little braids. I guess.

  • Now with this hairstyle, I like to keep it a little bit simple so

  • I'm just going to go ahead and brush my fringe

  • to the side.

  • And then this time I think I'll put this little heart shaped

  • hair clip into my hair.

  • Maybe just here.

  • Like that!

  • And then it's just a cute little hairstyle!

  • Super summery! Gets the hair right out of your neck.

  • Perfect!

  • Ok! So this next one is actually really really easy

  • but still kind of looks complicated.

  • I've had a lot of people ask me like "How do you do that hairstyle?"

  • And its actually just ... braiding my hair!

  • So, we're going to start by, again, splitting the hair

  • in the middle.

  • And we're just going to tie it up.

  • This time, high.

  • Before we tie it, just pull the front down a bit

  • Pull it nice and tight. Like so!

  • And then we're gonna split it into three

  • and just start braiding it.

  • Try to braid it quite tightly.

  • And then tie it at the bottom again with one of the more

  • thin hair bands.

  • Then I'm gonna go ahead and straighten the ends a little bit

  • just because I think it looks a little bit untidy.

  • And in this hairstyle, it matters a lot more.

  • I'm gonna

  • curl them out

  • like this.

  • Just like that!

  • And then the fun thing about this hairstyle is

  • you can really

  • play with it.

  • And kind of

  • change the shape like this!

  • So we'll go ahead and do the same with the other side.

  • And here we have our little pigtails.

  • With this hairstyle I decided I'm gonna do some more

  • feathery

  • bangs.

  • So I usually just part it

  • like this down the middle and take a little bit

  • of the fringe

  • and take it

  • and put it at the front

  • like this!

  • It's a bit more of a feathery

  • fun kind of look.

  • Now I'm not sure if this hairstyle would

  • work if you have very long hair but

  • its worth giving it a try!

  • I feel like this was a lot easier for me

  • when my hair was a bit shorter.

  • Also, it might be cute to just tie it like this.

  • Looks like bear ears!

  • But yeah! Here we have it!

  • Now this hairstyle actually doubles up as a second hairstyle!

  • This is the hairstyle I like to call, space buns for people who are not

  • very good at space buns!

  • Like me! I'm not very good at space buns.

  • And all you need to do is tie your hair into

  • braids like these and then just twirl the braids

  • around the hair band

  • and pin it into place

  • and you literally have space buns!

  • I know. Amazing!

  • I like to call myself a hair scientist.

  • Again, with the other side.

  • Just twirl it around like this.

  • and pin it into place.

  • As you can see, these are literally the

  • easiest, but still the cutest, space buns ever!

  • They're so fun and easy to do and it makes you look

  • like a little bear!

  • So, it's perfect!

  • Ok so a lot of the time you'll find that Kpop

  • stars don't really stick to straight hair

  • all the time.

  • So today, we're going to also do

  • a little bit of a quick wavy hair tutorial!

  • So I think that this wavy hair look is actually one of the easiest

  • looks to do.

  • We're gonna start by tying our hair up.

  • I'm gonna tie the front portion of my hair

  • away just so we can work with the back

  • by itself!

  • And we're gonna grab of a portion.

  • Roughly this kind of size.

  • And we're gonna grab our straighteners and just

  • pull it like this.

  • One side

  • other side

  • one side

  • Like that!

  • And then, as you can see

  • it became a bit of a wave.

  • As you can see, this end here

  • is turned inwards.

  • We want to have a mix of inwards and outwards to

  • make it more natural.

  • So again, we're gonna get another section

  • and start from the opposite side from last time.

  • And just pull it like this.

  • And just keep going like that

  • until we finish the bottom section.

  • Now that we've done the bottom, we're just going to

  • loosen up the top

  • and let it down.

  • And then we just continue the process with the rest of the hair!

  • Now, while most of the hair doesn't really matter,

  • we want the front of the hair to curl in rather

  • than out.

  • So make sure you do that.

  • And now we've done one side of the hair

  • and I'm just going to continue and do the other side.

  • Great! Now we just brush through it

  • a little bit

  • with our fingers.

  • And here we have it!

  • It's full of volume and I think it's so cute!

  • It's also a really great starting point for other hairstyles!

  • So we're gonna do some other hairstyles with this kind of

  • wavy hair!

  • But first, as far as the wavy hair itself goes, it's really

  • fun to just wear this hair and accessorize a bit!

  • For example, you can do these little heart bangs

  • and maybe just

  • throw in

  • this pink hairband!

  • And you have yourself

  • a super adorable hairstyle!

  • Its also really cute if you put it into

  • simple pigtails.

  • Like so!

  • Or you can put it into a ponytail

  • Like so!

  • yeah, it's a really easy hair to play with.

  • If you have natural hair like this, I'm so jealous of you!

  • One thing that's particularly easy with textured hair

  • is doing a bun!

  • So we're gonna go ahead

  • And just pull all of it as high as we can.

  • I'm gonna turn my head upside down.

  • Like this!

  • And a really important part of doing a bun is making

  • sure that the

  • front of your head - your forehead. There's a word for that.

  • Is completely covered with hair.

  • So it's framed nicely like this.

  • And we're gonna just tie it

  • up - just loosely tie it.

  • It's really hard to do buns with straight hair, I've found.

  • Once it's out like this, you can kind of

  • Tie it down like this.

  • Its a nice and cute little bun!

  • And just curl it nice and tight.

  • I feel like my hair is starting to get tired

  • of all the curling.

  • So I decided to kind of curl my

  • fringe tightly like this

  • to make kind of one big curl.

  • I think it's quite a cute look!

  • And then what we're going to do is

  • we're gonna take the part that we left

  • on the sides and just curl

  • them kind of seperately

  • to add more texture.

  • And here you have a nice and

  • classic loose, fluffy bun kind of thing!

  • And for our last bullet point I'm just going to mention . that it's actually

  • really easy to just accessorize the hair that you woke up with

  • and call it a day.

  • For example, with these kinds of big hair clips!

  • These are actually super trendy both

  • in Japan and in Korea right now

  • so I see them quite a lot.

  • And I think they're so cute!

  • And all I'm going to do is

  • Tie the front of my hair

  • away from my face

  • using those accessories!

  • As you can see, all I did was add these

  • simple accessories and it's kind of

  • become its own hairstyle. If that makes sense.

  • So if you are someone who doesn't really like to

  • spend a lot of time doing your hair

  • maybe just buy a lot of different kinds of

  • hair accessories so you at least feel like you're

  • doing something with it.

  • If you know what I mean

  • So that's all for today's video!
