  • Hi.

  • Welcome to show me the curry dot com.

  • I'm Hittle, and today I'm doing something a little bit different.

  • So one of the biggest questions most frequently asked questions we get on champagne.

  • The curry is people who are looking for ways to preserve their food.

  • Whether it's cooked, it's not cooked.

  • These are people who are going out of the country for a couple of months, and they're wondering what their husbands are gonna be eating while they're gone.

  • And a lot of times it's busy.

  • Moms who you know, don't have the time to cook every day.

  • They want to spend one day out of the week making a bunch of food, and they want a safe, effective way to preserve the food so that they could enjoy the food for the rest of the week.

  • So when I got a chance to review the new vacuum sealer from FoodSaver, I was super excited because I thought maybe this could be the key for some of our viewers were looking to preserve their food.

  • Now, just as a disclaimer, the manufacturer did send me this unit as part of the review program, but I'm not getting financially compensated to do this review.

  • So anyway, this is the new FoodSaver, and it's a pretty sleek model, uh, kind of a little intimidating when it came out of the box.

  • I was like, Wow, you know, it's pretty fancy machine here, but as I started using it, it's really not that complicated.

  • So today I'm gonna show you what I've learned and how to use this, and you could make your own decision whether you think it'll be useful for you.

  • So one of the coolest things about vacuum sealing your food is that basically, you're drawing out all of the air.

  • We always use zipper bags or plastic wrapper foil and things like that.

  • But there's a lot of air and our food, and it causes the food to oxidize and, you know, bacteria to grow.

  • So the bottom line is these vacuum sealers.

  • What if this is gonna do is pull out all the air from the bag and it will preserve your food up to five times longer, so something that would last in your fridge for a day or two.

  • Now less a week.

  • If something in your fridge last about a week now it's gonna last almost five weeks of four weeks, so it is pretty good.

  • You end up throwing away a lot less food.

  • So what?

  • Just really cool.

  • Now, the coolest thing that I found was that there are a gazillion different options on what kind of bags you can buy.

  • Sometimes you have just a little bit of food to preserve.

  • Sometimes you have a lot, so they have rolls.

  • You can cut your own size bags, which is a big plus, so you're not wasting any extra bags.

  • But if you want gallon size bags that's also available, there's court sized bags and the coolest are these zipper bags.

  • Now these air great for things that you want a vacuum seal and then get into and then seal it back up again.

  • So you're not wasting bags every single time you open this up.

  • So a lot of different options here, I'm going to go through a couple of them and let you see what I found.

  • So for Indian cooking, I know our bodies.

  • Our bodies are one of the staple things.

  • A lot of people need these things every day, and it's such a pain to need your dough and you know the whole process is pretty time consuming, especially for busy people who are working moms.

  • I need to get home and cook also.

  • So this is the best use I've found so far for this machine is to store does chapati dough.

  • So what happens is when you have Joe like this and you needed it and then you keep it in the fridge.

  • If you If you cream, make your dough and keep it in the fridge for a few days.

  • It turns like black, and it's a little weird.

  • And if you freeze it, then you have the trouble of having to defrost it when you're using it that we have a little bit of dough here that we're gonna preserve.

  • So first of all, in our machine, it's got a place where you can put a roll now, like I mentioned, they have these different roles where you can make your own size bags.

  • But this is the coolest one I found.

  • It's one role that had the perforation in the middle, and you could actually make two small bags out of the one.

  • So because I have a small amount of dough like this.

  • I'm gonna be using this one right now.

  • And all we're gonna do is we put it in here, lift up this little cutter and slide it through, and then you can make your own size bag.

  • So for this much dough, it's gonna fit in here.

  • We need to keep about four inch space just for it to go in and be able to seal.

  • I'm gonna pull out approximately that much and there's a little cutter unit.

  • Just slide it across.

  • Now you have your own size bag.

  • So now both of the ends are open, so we're gonna need to seal one of the sites.

  • So all we're gonna do is we're gonna turn on the machine first, and we're gonna press the seal, but you take the bag and you inserted here into the slot and you hold it there until the red light goes up.

  • And simple is that one of the size is now fully sealed.

  • And so you have.

  • And of course, this is the perforated back something.

  • Go ahead and tear it open here and now.

  • I have two little bags, but Aiken store whatever I need to know What I'm gonna do is I'm gonna take her dough ball and slide it in and to see their bag.

  • I'm just gonna slide it back in here and it's gonna pick it up by itself.

  • And when the light goes off, there you go.

  • You've got vacuum sealed.

  • Don't I have some dough that I did last week?

  • This is a week ago, and it's been just sitting in the refrigerator in this vacuum sealed bag and look at it.

  • It looks exactly like the dough that I just made today.

  • Now this in a regular zipper bag or in a plastic container in the fridge.

  • It would have been black by now, so I was super excited.

  • And this is the coolest thing, because now you can make dough for the entire week on one day and have these little packets there, and every day it just open it up and use one.

  • So this model also has an attachment on here that works with the zipper bags, and the zipper bags are great for things like nuts.

  • I know I buy like walnuts or almonds.

  • I buy them in bulk, and these are the kinds of things that if you don't store them properly, they become rancid.

  • So if you take safe walnuts and put him in your zipper bag and all we're gonna do is just press it closed and you take this attachment here, and if you notice there's a little circle right here that has the air of out there, and all you do is just place this on top of the valve and there's a button here that says Accessory.

  • We're gonna press that wait and that's that.

  • Look at that vacuum sealed walnuts.

  • Now this.

  • This will last in the fridge for months and months and months without going rancid.

  • So this is a big, big money saver, and whenever you need the walnuts, you can open it up like a standard zipper bag.

  • Enjoy the walnut, feel it back up, and it's same thing over the zipper.

  • Bags are also great for deli cheeses and deli meat, because I know I do this all the time.

  • I'll buy a pound of deli cheese, and it comes on his own bag from the from the deli from the supermarket, and you keep it in your fridge.

  • And after about a week, you look in it and then the cheese that started to mold.

  • So if you just transfer your cheeses or your deli meats into the zipper bags and seal them, then every time you want to use that, you could just open the bag up and then reseal it again.

  • It'll maintain its freshness for weeks to hear some Italy's, which I vacuum sealed about a week ago, and they're as fresh as ever now.

  • So far, all of mentioned is putting these things in the refrigerator.

  • But all of these vacuum sealed items can also be frozen.

  • In this case, if you freeze this vacuum sealed pack, your shelf life will be like one or two years is an incredible shelf life that you just extended just by pulling out all that air.

  • So far, I've had the opportunity to test out all these bags.

  • But as I was looking at their catalog, they have so many different accessories that you can buy with this model.

  • You have little canisters as well, like plastic, the buzz of sorts that that have a vacuum seal, um, a little ballet at the top and so you can use this accessory and actually use your plastic container and and suck out all the air.

  • And the great thing about that is that you're not wasting plastic every time you're using the same resealable container over and over and over.

  • And it's great for regular everyday food items that you just want to keep fresh for a couple of days.

  • They also have bottle stoppers, which is fantastic because a lot of times if you buy specialty oils, olive oil or chili oil that you don't use on a very daily basis, that the little valve can just be put on top of your bottle and see, you know, squeeze out all the air from there and it preserves your oil.

  • The oil doesn't turn rancid and even wine If you just want a glass of wine and you opened a whole bottle, stop it.

  • Pull out all the air and your wine is gonna stay fresh for a really long time.

  • So all in all, a lot of great uses for this machine.

  • So my overall impression, of course, when you pull out of the box, it's a little bulky, so if you have ah, you know counter space that you can dedicate for this machine, then great if you don't have a lot of counter space than but maybe not so much.

  • But once you start using it and you get used to using it all the time, then it's almost second nature.

  • You everything that you use, you just seal it and and seal it and end.

  • So becomes like an integral part of your kitchen gadgetry.

  • So that's great.

  • The other thing is the price point.

  • It is a little pricey, so it's great for those working moms.

  • For those people who need to preserve food, if you're the type that's gonna make your food every day fresh, then you know, maybe you don't need something this fancy.

  • But all in all, I think it's wonderful.

  • It's Ah, it's gonna save me a lot of time, I know, especially with the dough making, and especially things with nuts and everything that I feel so horrible about throwing that stuff away if I don't use it fast enough.

  • So if you think you're gonna have some really clever ideas and clever ways to use this type of machine, you can actually enter to host your own party at home, where you can demonstrate this to your friends and, uh, you have a little party out of it and you can visit their Facebook page.

  • It's facebook dot com slash foodsaver, and you can apply tau host one of your parties yourselves.
