  • always motivates me to create more content for you. OK. Let's get straight into it. Here

  • are my 7 Sales Associate Interview Questions and Top Scoring Answers. The first interview

  • question is guaranteed to be: Tell me about yourself and why you want to be a sales associate?

  • Here's my answer for you. “I am a hard-working, professional and positive person who enjoys

  • working under pressure, and also as part of a team. I know the role of sales associate

  • can be challenging at times, especially during busy periods, but I am someone who very much

  • prefers to be busy and I also get immense satisfaction from helping people and generally

  • serving them. I want to be a sales associate because my natural passion for working with

  • others, providing great service and working under pressure will be suited, in my opinion,

  • to this job. I know there’s lots of competition for sales associate roles, but if if you do

  • hire me, I will learn the role quickly, always be a positive role model for your brand, and

  • youll be able to leave me alone unsupervised to carry out my duties properly and in line

  • with the job specification.” That's a very strong answer! It's positive in nature, and

  • more importantly, it gets you off on the right footing. It basically gives you lots of confidence

  • for moving forward for the remainder of your sales associate interview. Now, you can either

  • pause the video and write down those answers as I progress. However, if you want to save

  • all of that hassle, I will tell you at some stage during this video where you can download

  • these slides. Next question of your sales associate interview: Why do you want to work

  • for our company as a sales associate? Here's my top scoring answer. “There are three

  • reasons why I want to work for your company, and they are all centered on your brand and

  • how you run the business. The first reason is, I only want to work for a company that

  • provides great customer service and supports its staff to do their jobs properly. The second

  • reason is, I feel this would be somewhere I can gain great experience, work as part

  • of a happy and positive team, and also get job satisfaction from in my role as a Sales

  • Associate. Finally, youve been around for a number of years now, which means if I carry

  • out my responsibilities to a high standard, I will hopefully have employment with you

  • for many years to come.” So, what I like about that answer is you are giving them three

  • really strong and valid reasons why you want to work for their company. Virtually all of

  • the other candidates at the interview will just give them one reason. You are giving

  • three really good reasons. Next interview question. How would you deal with a dissatisfied

  • customer as our sales associate? Dealing with customers is a very important part of the

  • sales associates role, and you are very much likely to get asked a question around your

  • ability to provide really good customer service. Here is my suggested answer to the interview

  • question: How would you deal with a dissatisfied customer as our sales associate? “I would

  • make sure I followed the training and guidance I had received when I started as a Sales Associate,

  • and would remain calm, be positive and always remember that I was representing your company.

  • I would listen to them carefully, ask them questions and then use reaffirming body language

  • and expressions to demonstrate that I was listening to their concerns or their complaint.

  • I would ask clarifying questions just to confirm what they were saying, before coming up with

  • a resolution for making things right for them. This may involve replacement goods or services,

  • a refund or an alternative option for resolving their dissatisfaction. If I was ever unsure,

  • I would speak to my team leader or supervisor. I will always make sure I represent the company

  • positively and focus on the goal of making the customer happy and satisfied.” That's

  • a good answer, because it puts the customer first and it shows that you have a number

  • of considerations, and a process, for dealing with unhappy customers. Next question: What

  • are your strengths that will help you in the role of a sales associate? This question may

  • be posed as: What are your strengths? Now, of course, there is also the alternative question.

  • That is: What are your weaknesses? And I will cover that as well at some stage during this

  • video. That's a lot harderwhat are your weaknesses? But let's approach this one. What

  • are your strengths? “My strengths are definitely the fact that I learn things quickly and then

  • I can be left alone to carry out my job properly. Another key strength of mine is my customer

  • service capabilities – I genuinely enjoy serving and helping others. Although I am

  • still learning this skill, another one of my strengths is my enthusiasm for upselling.

  • Whilst serving a customer I always look for ways to provide them with additional, useful

  • products or goods.” Now, that final strength of looking to upsell, is very attractive to

  • all people who run sales companies, because if you can go in there as a sales associate

  • and generate extra revenue for them, that's very appealing to the hiring manager! Next

  • question: What are the top three skills and qualities needed to be a sales associate?

  • This interview question is essentially assessing your understanding of the role, and whether

  • or not you have read the job description. Here's a great answer to this question. “I

  • believe the top three skills and qualities needed to be a great Sales Associate are OUTSTANDING

  • CUSTOMER SERVICE, a FLEXIBLE approach to work, and also the ability to INCREASE REVENUE for

  • the company you are working for. Great customer service is vital in ensuring customer come

  • back time and time again. Flexible working means being available to work the hours needed,

  • and also being available to come in and help out at short notice. Finally, you have a responsibility

  • as a sales associate to try and increase revenue within your role through great service and

  • also looking for opportunities to ethically upsell to your customers.” So, three top

  • skills. They are really good ones that again, are attractive to any hiring manager or recruiting

  • manager. Great customer service, increasing revenue and also, this one is very important,

  • being flexible. For example, being available to work all hours and come in and help out

  • as and when required. Next interview question of your sales associate interview that comes

  • up a lot. When have you gone above and beyond what was required? Now, you can either give

  • a specific situation that you were in where you went above and beyond for a customer,

  • or here is an alternative suggestion of how to answer this. “Whilst working in a previous

  • job, I was helping to train up a new member of staff who was having difficulty understanding

  • the key requirements of the role. It was really important to make sure they were trained up

  • as soon as possible, so they could help out the team. I decided to stay behind late one

  • evening to really show them what they needed to do, at a time when the shop was empty and

  • free from distractions. It worked well because they were then able to practice what I was

  • showing them and also ask me any questions without feeling under pressure.” That is

  • a great example of going above and beyond what is required, because you're volunteering

  • to stay behind late at work to train somebody else up so they can then help the organization,

  • the business, all the time. That's a great answer! Next question. So, this is the alternative

  • to what are your biggest strengths? What's your biggest weakness? Very difficult to answer.

  • We want to make sure we give them a weakness that is not a match for the job description

  • of a sales associate. Here we go. “Thankfully, my strengths far outweigh my weaknesses, and

  • there’s only one that I can think of. I am quite impatient at times and want to get

  • things done and finished as quickly as possible. In the past, I used to get frustrated with

  • people who unnecessarily took their time finishing jobs that the team were dependent on being

  • completed. However, one of my strengths is that I am always looking to improve and I

  • will take onboard feedback from other people. I have been improving my patience levels and

  • interpersonal skills to persuade and encourage people to get things done at a faster pace

  • when urgency is needed.” That's a great answer to the question: What is your biggest

  • weakness? Because actually, when I'm listening to that, it feels more like a strength. If

  • you are impatient work, it means you want to get things done really quickly, which is,

  • you know, which is a great thing! So, if you would like to download these slides, CLICK
