  • this tutorial from beginning to end. Now, just quickly before I get into the tutorial

  • and the training. A very warm welcome to this presentation. My name is Richard McMunn. That's

  • OK. Let's get in to the delivery driver interview questions and answers tutorial. The first

  • interview question we need to prepare for is, tell me about yourself? It is a simple

  • question. However, it is not always easy to answer. Here is my tip. There are three things

  • we need to cover in your answer to this delivery driver interview question. The fact that you

  • are reliable, you are trustworthy and you are also flexible. Here is my suggested answer

  • to the interview question, tell me about yourself? “I am a reliable, trustworthy and professional

  • person who can be relied upon to hit delivery targets and also go about my duties as a delivery

  • driver with professionalism and positivity. I understand the responsibility that comes

  • with the role, and my flexible and adaptable personal situation, means I can dedicate the

  • hours you need from a delivery driver. I am also a good team worker, I learn things quickly

  • and I can also be left alone to get on with my duties with little supervision or guidance.”

  • That is a brilliant answer that will score highly during the delivery driver interview.

  • The next interview question I want you to prepare for is, why do you want to work for

  • us? I can guarantee this question will come up during your delivery driver interview.

  • My tip for answering it highly is, focus your answer on the positive aspects of their company.

  • Think about what makes them unique. Is it good customer service? The fact they are expanding

  • and growing, which then means you will have employment for the long term. Here is my suggested

  • answer. “There are lots of delivery driver positions advertised. However, I don’t want

  • to work for just any company. I chose your company because, from what I gathered during

  • my research, you provide great service to your customers, and you also have ambitious

  • plans for the future. I am looking for long-term stable employment, and if I carry out my duties

  • as a delivery driver with commitment and professionalism, I will have employment with you for many years

  • to come.” That is a succinct answer that gives them a couple of great reasons why you

  • have chosen their company. The next delivery driver interview question is, and this is

  • a tough one, what would you do if you dropped a bottle of red wine on someone's carpets

  • and it smashed? Now, the question might be posed in a different way, they might say:

  • Tell me what you would do if you damaged the goods whilst handing them over to the customer?

  • So this is about what you would do if you damaged goods, and also potentially damaged

  • their property. Now, when answering these questions, there is only one way to answer

  • this delivery driver interview question correctly. You have to make sure you follow your training

  • and the rules and procedures laid down by the company you are working for. Here is my

  • suggested answer to both of these interview questions. “Firstly, I would take full responsibility

  • for the situation and apologize unreservedly to the customer for the inconvenience that

  • I had caused. I would then contact my supervisor to commence the insurance claim process, whilst

  • at all times following the rules and procedures the company would have in place to deal with

  • situations of this type. To be truthful, I am a careful and reliable person, so I don’t

  • really see this type of situation occurring. However, if it was to happen, I would always

  • follow company procedures and then learn from the situation so it never happened again.”

  • And somebody has said to me once, should I not get down on my hands and knees and clean

  • the rug or clean the carpet of the red wine? The truth is, you could make the situation

  • worse. So that is how to answer that interview question. The important thing is you take

  • responsibility, you contact your supervisor to commence the insurance claim if there is

  • one within the company that you're going be working for. And then also, you take responsibility

  • and learn from the situation. So those are the three things they're to concentrate on

  • in your answer. Now, I still have a number of delivery driver interview questions to

  • give you, so please do stick around. But when you're ready, if you click the link in the

  • top right hand corner of the video, you can go through to my website, PassMyInterview.com

  • and download my 21 great answers to interview questions. It's a PDF guide. You can have

  • it in your inbox within two minutes from now. It's a really good guide. So, your next delivery

  • driver interview question is, how would you deal with a difficult customer? This interview

  • question is assessing your attitude to customers and also your ability to solve customer problems.

  • There is a definitive process for dealing with difficult customers as a delivery driver.

  • So let me give you a great answer to this interview question. “First of all, dealing

  • with difficult customers is all part of the role of a delivery driver. Customer’s will

  • understandably be stressed at times, and it would be my job to listen to them, calm them

  • down if needed whilst showing a level of understanding. Whilst dealing with them, I would always follow

  • company guidelines, and also remember to act as a positive role model for the company.

  • If ever I was unsure of how to deal with a customer, I would call my supervisor for advice

  • and guidance.” So, that is a model professional answer to the interview question, how would

  • you deal with a difficult customer? The next question we need to prepare for is, you are

  • running late for a delivery. What would you do? This delivery driver interview question

  • is assessing your customer service abilities. Again, there really is only one great way

  • to answer this question. And here it is. “If I knew I was going to be late, I would call

  • the customer in advance, if safe to do so, and apologize before giving them an estimated

  • time of arrival. From a customer’s perspective, and having been in this type of situation

  • myself previously, it is really frustrating if a scheduled delivery is late and you don’t

  • hear anything. I also think it’s poor customer service. As a delivery driver, if you let

  • the customer know you are going to be late, they are far more likely to be understanding,

  • and it also means they can then get on with other household tasks to save wasting their

  • time.” That shows that you're thinking on your feet and also more importantly, you are

  • putting the customer first. The next delivery driver interview question is, why should we

  • employ you as our delivery driver? In your answer to this delivery driver interview question,

  • give five positive reasons why they should hire you for the job. All of the other candidates

  • will just give one reason. You're going to stand out. You're going to give five reasons.

  • Here they are. “I believe you should employ me for five reasons. Firstly, I am punctual

  • and professional and you can rely on me to do a great job. Secondly, I can provide great

  • customer service that is in-line with your company mission. Thirdly, I will always remember

  • I am representing your brand in all the work I do as a delivery driver. The fourth reason

  • is, I will always abide by your company rules, the driving laws and I will always make sure

  • I am fit to work. Finally, I am flexible and adaptable in the hours I can work for your

  • company, and I am ready to start immediately.” That's a great answer to that interview question,

  • why should we hire you? So here's two great questions to ask in your delivery driver interview.

  • You'll get to the end of the interview and they will say, do you have any questions you

  • would like to ask us? This is your opportunity to show you are enthusiastic, you are keen

  • and you are also the best applicant for the job. So say to them, what has frustrated you

  • about delivery drivers you have employed in the past? That shows that you want to come

  • in and do a great job and you are trying to get to the bottom of what has frustrated them.

  • The second question is, I am looking for stable, long term employment. What are the plans for

  • your company over the next five to 10 years? That tells me you're thinking of staying with

  • me for a long period of time. Now, of course, delivery drivers don't tend to stay with companies

  • that long. It is a difficult and challenging role. However, there is nothing wrong with

  • saying that because it is your intent when you start with their company, if you do plan

  • to be there for a long period of time. So don't forget, I hope you enjoyed that. If

  • you would like my 21 great answers to interview questions, please do click that link in the
