The iconic 1984 ad directed by Hollywood legend Ridley Scott, launching during the Super Bowl 40 years ago, depicted Apple as saving the world from a mechanized dystopian nightmare, some now drawing a comparison to the new ad showing tech taking over.

One of their first actions was to hold a conference on passports and passport controls, and it was at that conference in 1920 that the first sort of universal standards for the document itself, the size, the shape, the contents, as the passport system has evolved increasingly rapidly over the last decade or so, there's more and more data gathering, not just about those personal details inscribed in the passport, but about the structure of our face or the veins in our eyeballs or what have you, so that the system itself is gathering an almost, one might say, dystopian amount of information about individuals so that we are completely within the purview or control of that system as we move around the world.

A science fiction book recommendation that I have, which I think is probably the best envisioning of an AI future, is the culture books by Iain Banks. Very highly recommended for a non-dystopian view of the future. Now, there obviously are some risks, which illustrate perhaps, if we don't do this right, you could have a James Cameron sort of movie, Terminator. We don't want that one. But having a Star Trek future would be great, where we're out there exploring the stars, discovering the nature of the universe, and a level of prosperity and hopefully happiness that we can't quite imagine yet. I'm very excited about the future and very glad to be here. Thank you for having me.
Uh, very highly recommended, um, for a, uh, non-dystopian view of the future.

People give a variety of different reasons for this, but everyone agrees that it isn't healthy and it's really dystopian and freaky. I mean kids are missing out on their playtime, of actually exploring the world, understanding how it works, seeing the sights of nature, coming together with groups of other children and learning social dynamics. They're missing out on some of the best moments of their childhoods and it has a bunch of negative effects later down the line. Things which you might recognise in your own experiences.
and it's really dystopian and freaky.
We're in a dystopian world.
here's what's happening we're in a dystopian world,
