  • The first of these isSong for Welcoming the Ancestral Spirits”, an ancient song of the Paiwan people, one of Taiwan’s aboriginal groups.

  • The second isThe Forest Show”, composed by Golden Melody Award-winning producer Wu Judy Chin-tai.

  • The third is the traditional Paiwan songLet’s Sing”, and the fourth is another traditional Paiwan songKuyi’s Love”.

  • The three traditional Paiwan songs used in the music convey messages of welcoming, blessing, joy,

  • and gathering together, and are used to represent the multicultural character of Taiwan.

  • The Forest Sowis a classic of nature music and symbolizes Taiwan’s rich natural landscapes and its beauty.

  • This suite was arranged by the well-known soundtrack composer Fan Tsung-pei.

  • With the exception of the instrumental second part,

  • the vocals are by the TaiWu Children’s Ancient Ballads Troupe,

  • a children’s singing group that has attained international recognition over the past few years.

  • Their voices, from a culture rooted firmly in the land, welcome 2014 with majestic emotion.

  • leading everyone through the last moments of 2013 and welcoming the new hope of 2014.

  • blossoming out at the climatic moments of the tension-filled fireworks sound and light show,

  • symbolizing a local spirit full of strong vitality and a rich creativity closely tied with the rest of the world.
