  • -If people haven't seen it,

  • you're looking for the world's greatest dancer.

  • -Yes, in the world.

  • -In the world. And the winner gets $1 million.

  • -$1 million.

  • [ Cheers and applause ] Which, by the way...

  • As you know, that doesn't happen for a dancer.

  • You could work your entire life and not make $1 million.

  • It's not compensated in the right way.

  • So this was a huge deal for us.

  • We just wanted to be part of it.

  • -You are a dancer. -Yes.

  • -But if this competition was around when you were, like,

  • out doing -- 'Cause I want to talk

  • about Janet Jackson for a second.

  • -Oh, are you a massive Janet fan like I am?

  • -I am a Janet fan, yeah. -[ Gasps ]

  • -I mean, I'm like, the number 5...

  • -I saw it in your eyes. -...4, 3, 2...

  • -Yeah, do, do... -Yeah, "Rhythm Nation," yeah.

  • -Yes. Amazing. -What tour were on

  • with Janet Jackson? -I did "All For You."

  • -[ Gasps ] -Which was 2001, I think?

  • Some Janet fan's going to correct me on that,

  • but I think it was 2001. [ Laughter ]

  • And it was, like, dream come true.

  • I mean, it was, like, my Oprah vision-board moment.

  • You know? I learned it from the TV

  • when I was in high school.

  • I was, like, obsessed with Janet.

  • -She's the greatest. -Obsessed. She's the best.

  • -I worked with her on "Saturday Night Live."

  • We did a sketch called "Cork Soakers,"

  • and she was fantastic. [ Laughter and applause ]

  • -Isn't she disarming, too?

  • You're just, like, you're disarmed by her essence.

  • It's like, [ gasps ] -Just awesome.

  • And, she's Janet, yeah. -Yeah.

  • So yeah, for me, the show would've been, like,

  • ultimate dream to be on.

  • It was just -- I was like, "I have to do this."

  • That was my main goal. -But that's what makes you great

  • 'cause you're seen it. You've kind of been through

  • the whole thing. You get to talk to these people,

  • these contestants, and you go, you know --

  • 'Cause it's emotional, too... -Yeah.

  • -...if they don't make it, and if they do make it.

  • It's both sides. -I understand it.

  • I cry with them. I laugh with them.

  • I'm like an annoying cheerleader to them backstage.

  • I'm like, "You can...!" It's like they're all my kids.

  • You know? It's like I'm a mama bear

  • back there, 'cause I know what it feels like.

  • I've had to go out, I've had to perform,

  • high-stakes like this.

  • I mean, some of them are 14.

  • -Have you ever made a mistake, like, on the Janet tour?

  • -Well, yes.

  • -But no one saw it. -Well, just the whole concert

  • of, you know, a stadium.

  • I was doing -- I fall all the time

  • on stage and in life.

  • It's just something that happens.

  • -That makes us besties, yeah. -Yeah, yeah, yeah.

  • I'm, like, graceful, then I fall on my face.

  • But I was doing "Alright," you know.

  • ♪♪ Alright ♪♪

  • Oh, don't make me sing on this show.

  • But you know what I'm talking about, so, I'm doing the dance,

  • I'm up on a platform.

  • I take a step, I fall directly into the audience.

  • -Off the stage? -On the fans, yes.

  • Off the stage. Like, you see me,

  • you don't see me. Like, I just literally went...

  • [ Landing sound ] like, on the ground.

  • -This is pre-stage diving. -This was not a -- Yeah.

  • -This was not a stage dive. -Not Nirvana.

  • This is not Pearl Jam, yeah. -This was like -- yeah.

  • I feel. I totally fell. -[ Gasps ] Wow.

  • -And for the next week, Janet and all the dancers

  • were rewinding it and playing it and laughing at me.

  • [ Laughter ] And some of the Janet fans

  • came to the next concert with, like, a shirt made of me,

  • of, like, a stick figure, like, falling off the stage.

  • [ Laughter ] I mean, I was so embarrassed.

  • Like, you know, I'm 19.

  • This is, like, the most embarrassing thing.

  • I've fallen so many times, though, like...

  • -So, you know, yeah. -I know how it goes.

  • -But this, I think that it's just a great show, it's fun.

  • Also, we love Jennifer Lopez so much.

  • -Oh, yes. -And I should say Derek Hough,

  • too, is coming on the show, August 8th, with the winner.

  • -Ooh! -After the show,

  • he's going to come on our show and perform,

  • so it should be good. -I love Derek!

  • That would be so good. -Jennifer Lopez...

  • -Yeah. -...is so much fun.

  • And I love her, and I'm telling you

  • it's just a good -- The chemistry's great.

  • You got a good crew of people.

  • I want to show a clip. -Yeah.

  • Here's Jenna Dewan Tatum encouraging some of

  • the junior contestants on "World of Dance."

  • Take a look at this.

  • What you do is other-worldly.

  • They actually were like, "Maybe, like, one less hug

  • an episode?" -No!

  • -One quick thing before you leave.

  • Madonna was on the show and I asked her

  • to teach me a dance move,

  • because I need a go-to dance move

  • if I go to a wedding or something, or the club.

  • I'm always at the club. [ Laughter ]

  • And I always need, like, a dance move

  • that I'm always going to do at the club.

  • -Okay. -And so, she gave me

  • a dance move, and I've used it ever since,

  • for years now, and it's kinda getting a little tired.

  • And I need a new dance move.

  • -Okay, you need a dance move. -Do you want me to show you

  • the one she taught me? -I mean, get up.

  • Let's try something. Let's see.

  • All right. [ Drum beat ]

  • So, it's kind of like the Tatum move.

  • -It's the Tatum move, okay. -Kind of.

  • We do this a lot. It's a body roll.

  • [ Cheers and applause ] Just got to move your...

  • And then, you've got to do your -- you'll do good.

  • Do you shoulders. -I can't do this.

  • Shoulders back, yeah. -Then, stick your butt out.
