  • Hey, guys.

  • Okay, we're here on location.

  • Low is Bullhead City.

  • So we're gonna go inside.

  • And where's the load?

  • There.

  • That's why you're pointing there.

  • Okay, we're going to go inside, and we'll show you the process of picking out the pickets for the for my cedar fencing when I make my cedar signs.

  • So follow us in and we'll go, and I'll show you the whole process of how I pick out my material.

  • So here we go.

  • All right, guys.

  • So we're inside Mose, and I'm gonna show you the whole process of how I pick out my cedar boards.

  • So you guys know this is the kind of science I do these air outside letters, And this is on exactly what we're looking at here.

  • Cedar fencing.

  • So there are some aspects of this that work tremendously well for making signs, But there are solutions to So what I'm gonna do, I'm just gonna keep rolling here.

  • Dad, stay with me.

  • I need to speak up.

  • Let me know.

  • So way kind of locked down.

  • I didn't know this was gonna happen, but it looks like they just got a brand new ship in the cedar in.

  • Now, when it's brand new cedar generate, your boards will be you'll probably be wetter than what you use when you start carving so thes boards.

  • A lot of them are heavier than they would be when I carve him, go back and watch our other videos as far howto dry these out.

  • This board right here is almost completely unusable, with no knots.

  • I don't know if you get that, but there's no knots.

  • Ghosts quits.

  • I always look at the ends of the boards to see if they're splits and ends, and this one doesn't look like there's looks like it's in pretty good shape.

  • Um, so we've got probably six or eight or 10 boards already have something way over 55 inches of usable material.

  • But actually, no, not that doesn't happen very often.

  • So this is a killer board.

  • I could make 40 50 bucks, and it actually I can make $7 out of this.

  • Look, you're right on that board.

  • They are $2.28.

  • That's what they sell for as a chick.

  • That chick footers those air six footers.

  • So I'm gonna go to the next board.

  • This one It's got too many knots and it's really heavy, Which really wouldn't matter, because I'm gonna dry it anyway.

  • But it's got too many knots to work around.

  • That was his next one.

  • Not too bad, because actually, this one I could rip down for four inch boards.

  • And and actually these kind of knots aren't too bad.

  • Even if I'm gonna use a six bite cut a six by 24.

  • So this one we've got, Yeah, you could easily cut foreign boards out.

  • This three and 1/2 4 inch boards and even a couple of these knots, we could probably get at least 16 24 which is worth 40 bucks or way can get three or four of forage.

  • Thank you, sir.

  • Appreciate the critique there, or we can get three or four of the four inch by 18 inch boards.

  • So this is definitely a keeper.

  • Doesn't have a whole lot of a boat to it.

  • It's got, you know, just a little bit, but not much.

  • So this definitely will make some nice sons.

  • So that's it.

  • Game kind of locked out, but they got a Brandon shipment.

  • This is a little bit if you like boards that got solid, not you could make it beautiful shine out of this one.

  • And down here we've got almost 24 is only about 20 actually.

  • But you get a nice four by 18 out of this board, you could make money with that one.

  • But I'm gonna set that one aside because so much material here to work with and again you take into account when you come in to hear How much cedar do they have this?

  • Obviously, I could get eight or 10 boards out, probably out of one stack here, even if its worst case scenario so But if they're low on cedar, you may not be quiet is picky.

  • So, anyway, um, I'm gonna this one here.

  • Actually, I like little knots like that really tight, and I can get a really nice six by 24 out of there.

  • Probably.

  • Maybe I don't think I would have that sign just because it's kind of gnarly.

  • But I could get a four by 14 out of this end here.

  • I could get a four by 16 or 60 60.

  • Get 6 24 Yeah, that one's a keeper of death.

  • and it's actually almost ready to go now.

  • I can tell by the weight of it.

  • It's probably down to about 12 or 14.

  • Just a few days in Arizona.

  • Sun over 14% percent moisture.

  • Yeah.

  • Thank you.

  • Yeah.

  • So this obviously this one's jumped His busted here.

  • Split there.

  • This one.

  • Same same thing.

  • It's got a big old split here.

  • Some of these knots are a little bit loose, and they got big cracks in them.

  • I don't really like to mess with that.

  • I'm just kind of winging it here, guys, you can tell I haven't proved.

  • Pick any of these boards or anything.

  • So this one, it's got a gnarly edge right there.

  • So I couldn't get a six by 24.

  • These kind of knots?

  • A little bit gnarly.

  • I don't really like carving through, not set aside.

  • Jump these kind of knots and have big splints.

  • And my dad can use um not I said inside this got stickers here, so I'm gonna go through this next This one.

  • I don't like it much because it's got try and set that up.

  • It's got a pretty good cup, too.

  • So and it feels a little bit thin.

  • Some of these boards now we'll be down to like, 1/2 inch thick.

  • It doesn't bother me too much and slows.

  • It doesn't have to much.

  • I don't care that much.

  • Oh, this one looks actually looks pretty good.

  • It's It's I don't know if you could tell, but it's It's a problem that eighth of an inch thicker than that last one.

  • I just picked up these knots really good.

  • If you could place them within your signs there nice and tight, I can get least.

  • Yeah, I have these 26 by 20 fours, which means this board is worth somewhere around 70 to 80 bucks for me.

  • Yep.

  • Feels kind of thin.

  • These thoughts have, like, little splits in the knots.

  • I would rather not deal with side, By the way, when I get done here, guys, I won't do it on camera.

  • But I will bring all those boards that I haven't selected, and I'll stack him up nice like it was when I got here.

  • I just think it's the right thing to do, So I'm just rambling here, guys, This one, actually, I kind of like it because these these knots here will.

  • Although some of them have checks in there, but I think I can still those.

  • And it wouldn't be a problem that will make some nice concerns right there.

  • I can get at least probably 40 or 50 bucks out of that.

  • All right, That's one.

  • I don't like that.

  • This one is busted up.

  • That one.

  • You're something.

  • See that grain right there?

  • I don't know.

  • You consume animal, huh?

  • And I don't know how it's gonna come across that ring right there.

  • That is gonna car like a book.

  • I don't like that type of green right there.

  • Soft, hard, soft, hard, soft, hard, Tough to keep a straight line.

  • I'm not sure that I can tell by the brain on it that I would like the way cars.

  • This one's gotta split right there.

  • It looks like a couple splits with sign there that No, that was kind of normal.

  • Kind of thin.

  • It's got kind of a little bit too much.

  • Who?

  • There's a winner.

  • Winner, winner, Chicken dinner.

  • Right there, boys and girls.

  • This this grain kind of resembles the grain that I didn't like, But it's much closer together that grain will car pretty well if your bits of sharp only a couple of knots, that's a $50 board right there.

  • So I think that kind of kind of gives you an idea what I look at.

  • I always have my tape measure.

  • Take your gloves to splinters.

  • I'm not a fan of splinters in deals for about 40 years, but anyway, that's what I go through when I picked my board town.

  • Right now, it's summer time.

  • Here it's 105 degrees outside, so I know even these that are high moisture content once they're setting out like and go back and watch the videos.

  • I wish I had the number for you.

  • I'll put it in the description on this.

  • What number videos To watch, how to drive this stuff if you wish, your content isn't down, but on a day like today, within two days these will be down to 6%.

  • I'll tell you what video watch in order, how to drive these cedar boards, but that's gonna be 1234566 boards there, six boards there that's gonna three bucks is gonna cost me less than 20 bucks.

  • And that's probably $200 worth of signs.

  • Easy, easy.

  • 200 bucks worth of boards.
