  • welcome.

  • Great to have you.

  • Do you prefer going by Norma's?

  • Most of the broadcast seems to indicate that's fine.

  • I got so many nicknames.

  • Well, what are they, uh, norms one of, um, and P.

  • Normie Stormin Norman, Uh, as the name a few.

  • Awesome.

  • Well, go with Norm.

  • And I wanted to ask you fished up.

  • Have you come down from that high that I think we will rule on with you from a long way back Right to the incredible celebration here in Toronto?

  • Kind of.

  • I mean, it's still like a surreal feeling, Especially when people keep saying, like, all you're a champion, You won the championship like it still doesn't feel real.

  • Maybe on October 22nd when we get our actual rings actually sinking.

  • Can I ask you, Marc Gasol has come down from his high?

  • I don't think you guys yeah, was still message in the team.

  • Think by, like, three weeks ago, when he was in l.

  • A trying to meet up with everybody, So I think he's still partying.

  • We had general manager Messiah Jerry here.

  • He was a few years back before people really had considered the Toronto Raptors his champions and you know, he had a really clear vision for your team.

  • He was adroll master like you are today for our one of the big races.

  • I just want to ask you, since you've been with the team, how long back did you kind of get a sense that you could become Toronto Weapons could become the N b A championship.

  • I think when I first got drafted with team, our first team meeting and some early especially what Messiah and Bobby talking to the team, I was, ah, newly drafted kid coming in, eyes wide open.

  • But the vision and a team that we had and the guys that were around, you know, we always felt and I always felt that we're gonna be contenders, you know, every year, despite what the media and the outside world was saying about us, you know, I thought we always had a chance to win, especially being here four years.

  • But in the playoffs every year, been in contentions and you know, the moves made on off season leading up to this season this past season really put it over the top.

  • But I think my four years we always had a chance to win it.

  • You know, there was some incredible moments.

  • I think a lot of people were doubting you.

  • The Philly game was incredible.

  • The Philly Siri's ending.

  • People were talking about How could you come back against the Milwaukee Bucks?

  • Because you had to keep going and winning.

  • And then just in terms of winning away from home all the time in their final Siri's against Golden State.

  • What about that mental toughness?

  • An adaptability that you had toe have to get through those very tough moments?

  • Um, I think this is a team as a whole, you know, throughout the whole season we had to deal with so many different things.

  • Injuries, load management with quiet being out, and everybody had their opportunity and chance to be able to step up in those times.

  • And it just really prepared us for hidden into the postseason and then leading up to the finals.

  • Every Siri's brought a different challenge in a different obstacle for us to be able to figure out how we're gonna overcome it and bond together.

  • And I think in each one of those Siri's leading up to the finals, we dealt with so many different things that it really prepared us, you know, being ableto went on the road in Milwaukee in a tough environment.

  • I'm going Game seven with Philly and losing that first game against Orlando really helped us prepared us for what Golden State was going to do in the finals.

  • Can you share with us?

  • What for?

  • You were the most memorable moments of the Siri's for the finals.

  • Uh, man, this stuff I feel like the playoffs as a whole is ah is the most memorable thing for me.

  • I've never been part of a team like that.

  • You know, the run.

  • We went on everybody having their moments in different Siri's in different games, really contributing to get in the championship and bringing in Toronto in this country of Canada for the first time.

  • I think there's not one moment I can really single out, I think, Uh huh, everything that happened happened for a reason.

  • It was perfect timing for us, you know that.

  • I think that whole run is the most member with thing for me.

  • So I read that your uncle was a pretty big influence in you getting into basketball.

  • You have two older sisters, and I'm sure that your family was a big influence from back in San Diego, for sure.

  • From the start, my mom and my uncle did a great job of being a positive role models for me, showing it, showing me what it took and what it takes to be successful in a being focused and the hard work and commitment it takes and achieving your dreams and goals, especially my mom, raising me and my sisters by herself and going through everything that we went through growing up but always having a positive attitude no matter what she was faced with.

  • I really rubbed up on me when I figured out what I want to do in the passion that I have for basketball.

  • And, you know, it's not easy to, you know, make it to the NBA.

  • All the challenges and obstacles that your your face there.

  • But you know, I had a strong background with the family, and I just, you know, additive fuel and me continue toe work, continue to grind my way to everything that I was faced with to get here when you showed it and did it in an incredible fashion.

  • I want to ask you, everyone wants to know how I landed and I guess you're pretty close.

  • How's life gonna be without a while, Anna?

  • Um, it's gonna be fun.

  • You know, I think everybody was so bummed out that he left, but I saw it as opportunity for not only myself, but for the team as a whole.

  • We have so many great pieces.

  • Still, and a lot of a lot of us were young and having a wait our turn and sit behind guys, you know, try toe play the best we could in a minute.

  • So we got.

  • And now it's open floor for opportunity for guys to be able to come in and show what they can do and step up and hopefully expand the role.

  • And, you know, just continue toe to grow.

  • You know, the n b a career.

  • You know, a superstar like Hawaii, you know, you learn so much in this preparation and how he goes about the game itself in the day to day of routine.

  • So you're able to learn and see that hopefully this year, you'll be ableto implement it, take some things the way that he brought to the team last year and, you know, take a step forward.

  • It's gonna take the full team that get back to where we were.

  • It's gonna be hard when you have to play against him.

  • It's gonna be fun.

  • It's gonna be fun.

  • I can't wait.

  • We're gonna have it.

  • We're gonna have fun.

  • I want to ask you to finish the sentence.

  • My typical breakfast in the morning is French toast.

  • Eggs, turkey, bacon, hash browns.

  • I don't know if we've got enough food here today.

  • Okay.

  • If there was one rule in the NBA that you would like to change, what would that be?

  • Uh, traveling.

  • What about, um what made the NBA title so special for me personally, waas the fact that I was able to share it with my family?

  • What is the thing you most like about Canada?

  • The culture And okay, I want to talk about the Drake effect.

  • What does the Drake effect mean to Norm Power?

  • I think it means everything.

  • Have a longer sentence, you know, growing up, I was a big drink fan.

  • Um, and all his earlier, the grassy, uh, moments.

  • So to be able to be a part of that.

  • See that?

  • And see the effect that he has on a team.

  • And, you know, the outside world people being so upset with his personality was a lot of fun.

  • Okay, well, speaking of the drink effect, you absolutely Do you like music, right?

  • Yes.

  • Okay.

  • You ready for this?

  • I think you are hanging one sick.

  • Been practicing.

  • When I say these words, what happens next?

  • Here we go.

  • 123 No sunshine in the morning.

  • No paper at my door.

  • Okay?

  • My guys really have my song on here.

  • No problem, right?

  • The coach says to hit a three.

  • It's all a big and pay no problem to me.

  • And it ends with life with no problems.

  • No matter how I suffer live life waiting problems like everything is awesome.

  • It's all a big MP.

  • No problem with me, sport.

  • You are a sport and okay, I've always struggled with you.
