  • top of everybody's wish list of yards to visit ahead of the Children festival has to be seven Barrows, and the man at the helm is Nicky Henderson, O B.

  • Who is this country's leading trainer at the festival.

  • We've come here to seven Barrows on a day where there's been wind, rain, hail and now, thankfully, sunshine to meet his All Star cast.

  • And, of course, the horse that will be taking center stage is none other Ben lt first half of the season was a bit of a mismatch, really, because we got involved in an idea that he stayed.

  • I'm sure he would.

  • But that race was son named, absolutely, bottomed him way, just had to pull right back and start all over again.

  • And it was great that he came back.

  • There was sort of so much greater than it is.

  • If it gone some way, hadn't gone anywhere, he just actually happened to get beaten for the first time.

  • He was very tired that day and to be fair, I think so was surname.

  • Yeah, they had a very, very tough race in appalling ground both first time out.

  • I think that's really what got them is that it was their first run of the year and they weren't.

  • You know, we certainly weren't primed for what happened on DDE.

  • You know, in that grand, we shouldn't run, But you couldn't come out of it because the world would killed us because they've been such hype about this great match.

  • But in that ground, I wouldn't normally over on him.

  • Anyway, we saw that customary finishing kick at Newbury.

  • And the game of spirit, I thought was interesting Watching it was a very sensitive and thoughtful right.

  • I thought that Nico gave else you'll with the future of mind and oversee the one that you wanted emit that new breeze to get the confidence back.

  • Not that Not that that would be Nate, where either, but it was bound to be gentlemen and be back on the race course after what had happened.

  • It ask it, um on and he was He was bound to just be ableto think about it.

  • He didn't He jump.

  • Very well.

  • Um, on dhe, he had a good blow.

  • The third last a lot.

  • It said, Oh, gosh, he's He's not going that well.

  • Well, in fact, Nika was just having to sit still for you don't have to sit still for very long.

  • It's a bit like taking a bit stop in the ground brief.

  • They could do that in three seconds.

  • You can actually have a pit stop in a race.

  • Only take three seconds, but so what it takes to fill up on.

  • Then he was off again, and then when he pressed the button after the last, you know, got to say everything still works and that was great.

  • Now he's a remarkable horse as we know he's going into his lease one already four times that the festival.

  • He's going for 1/3 Queen, Mother champion chase.

  • But I think in the past he's claimed some really notable scalps.

  • This year, though, she can post war and especially my opinion.

  • Definitely Soy represented a new challenge for him, but they do.

  • I mean, there's no doubt this is a very, very competitive renewal and even if you go back to sprinters years, you know, when he was sort of starting at 3 to 1 on every time and that was horrible because nothing but something brilliant was going to make everybody happy.

  • Lucky, he did.

  • But, um, you know, this time this is a proper, very, very competitive and over race.

  • I was hoping definite would go.

  • Ryan Air wanted everything to persuade J P to do so.

  • But then just to make sure I knew that he wasn't going to, he took him out of the Ryan.

  • I didn't even leave him in the last four fit stage, so I knew my fate that had failed there.

  • Um, he's looked very good old year.

  • He's also undoubtedly love soft ground.

  • Um, I think the ground could be a big factor.

  • Results you're is a much better horse on good ground.

  • Um, it's in very soft ground.

  • I really would be very a huge respect for definite sorry anyway, but, you know, the balance would switch.

  • I think, according to the ground, you're very happy with him.

  • I'm happy with him.

  • He hasn't done anything since Anything serious since knew Bree, but he'll be starting away again this week.

  • I mean, we've got three weeks to go.

  • So here's where we wanted my Hope Hills.

  • Lord Booth leading trainer in the Champion Hurdle.

  • It's a race that you've made your own.

  • It looks like you have a really strong challenge.

  • The strongest of anyone, I think this year headed.

  • I think my epitaph.

  • The Philly we saw the mayor that we saw this morning, who's looked very good in her victory is the last time you saw her.

  • There was Christmas.

  • Are you happy with where she's at?

  • Works.

  • Great.

  • You didn't very, very good form.

  • I mean, she was good.

  • She was good at Newbury.

  • She was good.

  • A TTE Christmas.

  • We haven't run a sense that was virtually on purpose.

  • She will have a race horse galloped between now and then.

  • Um, to be fair, I mean, I think a lot of paper said, you know, she didn't.

  • I thought this time last year she was one of our best chances of the week, Um, in the mayor's novice.

  • But it didn't work at all.

  • It was disappointing.

  • But then what was the reason for that was, Well, the problem we've had last year with a lot of the horses is that we'd had when the flu outbreak, um, appeared that the the vaccination rules were changed.

  • We've felt Fowler of the the period that was required, so we had to re vaccinate all the horses the equivalent of last week on some, it doesn't affect it.

  • All others.

  • It knocks him sideways.

  • On day, there were three or four that didn't show up.

  • Children showed that went there, but they didn't mean it.

  • You just weren't sure which, which affected what?

  • Um, you're my opinion.

  • That is the only explanation I have.

  • She was the same.

  • We're 45 that round.

  • Very disappointing me.

  • Andre were undoubtedly still affected by it.

  • You wouldn't normally want to run them in that times.

  • Good, you.

  • But we were forced to, so we had to just face it and hope for the best.

  • Luckily found four that hadn't, you know I haven't been affected by it.

  • Lead.

  • Some horses just coped with it better than others.

  • I think it's like humans as well.

  • You have a gut instinct of How could she could be because you've done so well in that particular race for those particular colors.

  • And you think of Beauvoir dare and binoculars.

  • You know, my tend to yours and finishing second in different.

  • He's retired.

  • Yeah, I think she's a good fit.

  • It there's no doubt about that.

  • She's working very very well.

  • At the moment.

  • She seems in good form.

  • Yeah, she was.

  • She was good.

  • New read.

  • 47 Handicap, Mitchell.

  • The Christmas order Look that was There's always that state worry that she brought a bit last year a chaplain when she was, well, fancied.

  • Um, you'd have to say probably that are ridden.

  • Camped in and Christmas is probably the most impressive off to my performance that we've seen this year.

  • I thought, Um, but there may be, Is that question mark.

  • Mickey's got things.

  • Got 45 in the jumping.

  • Unrepentant.

  • That's another one, I suppose, that's been beat the competition.

  • It's an open.

  • It's an open champion.

  • Horrible.

  • I think if you're a jockey, you'd be, I think if you were given the choice to ride one of the moment, I think you definitely big capital.

  • She looks Theo class and the speed and yeah, I think.

  • I think if she hadn't blown a challenge last year, you know that's the only little question mark you have.

  • Is that what happened last year for whatever, for whatever reason, if that's the reason that hopefully.

  • But it said, From what I've seen visually this year, if you were to pick a right as a jockey for the Chapman.

  • There's no question you Picard, Pelin Hills at Cheltenham, obviously one last year.

  • Then again, entry.

  • What he seems to need is a the conditions of being a big field in a faster on race.

  • That's sort of content traveler resident, and you're very, very good jumper.

  • I think both times this year probably traveled a little bit too well.

  • He's been doing a little bit too much and if any weight, you're not quite getting home.

  • But, um, we have just tinkered with these palate, but that's very, very simple.

  • I don't think a person it was my idea.

  • But on the other hand, I'm not sure it's gonna make any difference.

  • But it's just trying to make sure there isn't something there.

  • Um, you can't tell.

  • So just do it.

  • Um, he is good.

  • He's traveled in both his races this year like it's the best horse in the race.

  • Hasn't quite got home.

  • I can forgiven, forgiven both times.

  • But I mean, the first time in the international was his first run.

  • It was very soft.

  • Um, we were lucky we had called me Lord in the race you wanted anyway.

  • But, um, he just didn't quite get up the hill that day.

  • We know he does get up here because he flew up it in the triumph last year, but now he's in very good form.

  • He worked the weekend.

  • He was really good on.

  • The intention is to run the others as well.

  • Absolutely the only one you be slightly nervous about would be Madonna Blue in the You know, nobody needs reminding.

  • It's been the wettest winter we've ever seen.

  • And there are only two going descriptions for the whole of this week.

  • They're gonna be heavy on abandoned, that's all.

  • Raise.

  • There's nothing else while waterlogged.

  • Mostly no options that this well, I mean, it's got to dry up.

  • I mean, we've got to have, you know, a good you know, those three weeks on end.

  • A lot can happen in three weeks.

  • I don't want to start happening there.

  • Santini them for the Gold Cup.

  • But he was brilliant in the cultural tastes, and it was lovely to see this whole sue so talented just rise to the occasion, having a sort of uninterrupted preparation into it, because previously there's been wanted.

  • Thio niggling things with him.

  • We'll only last year thatwas because again, flu jab for a start.

  • Meant he couldn't run in the rental.

  • Stan, he came in with two runs of offenses under his belt, which is not a lot to be coming into the e r s A.

  • So he couldn't run in.

  • The red is down because of his flu jab on the Tuesday I don't say that affected if it didn't, it didn't affect him.

  • But if he couldn't have his prep race, then we have problems with his feet.

  • And he was He was lame right up until the day of the race.

  • I mean, we were riding in one day in seven lips.

  • Lee.

  • Well, luckily, have a water treadmill.

  • Any splashes?

  • Waiter that would webbed feet until we actually got him sound just in time for the race.

  • But it was amazing to have done what he did under the circumstances.

  • I mean, where is this time?

  • You know, with that preparation, the cultural chase timing is great from that to the festival, fingers crossed, no problems.

  • He comes in with a guy, comes in with a chance.

  • Yeah, and I think I don't know what you think.

  • The difference of the new course in the Old Course and where the R S A.

  • Is running in the Gold Cup will actually suit him even more through it probably will.

  • It's a stairs track.

  • Hey, is exactly that.

  • Hey, prefer some nice ground, Um, but now he's in good form.

  • He seems very fresh and willing himself.

  • He's always brighter.

  • You always have a good year.

  • Tell you when he's right.

  • He's telling me that for the moment.

  • Anyway, Shishkin is a horse who to me looks like he has it all because he's classy.

  • He travels very well.

  • He's pretty slick over his obstacles.

  • He's got speed.

  • He must be very excited about him.

  • For the supreme novice.

  • I think so.

  • He's Bean.

  • He had one bumper last year, which he went very easily on both officer turtles.

  • He's bean very professional.

  • He has got gears.

  • You can just press a button on Dr Lee, but both times so far it's worked.

  • Um, he hasn't, um but I mean, I think the hunting and race.

  • To be fair, we tried him over a little bit further, but he doesn't need it.

  • I mean, it was two mile, three round Huntington, which is not exactly a test of stamina.

  • Um, but they were There was some respectable horses in there, and so, you know, he eats very quickly.

  • Put that to bed.

  • Um, yeah, it's It's always one of the nicest races to win, because if you can, you've got the You got one run on the board.

  • England one island nil.

  • It's what I like about it.

  • They have that wretched scoreboard down the bottom.

  • We come into the paddock and last year, looking at it was despairing.

  • Staying a little bit further helps coming up.

  • They're like Children.

  • You stay.

  • Yeah.

  • Yeah.

  • There's no doubt your state.

  • It's Mr Fisher.

  • Upon the outside, Mr Fisher takes the laid out loud was in second list this kind of battle back to the inside.

  • But it is Mr Fisher on change going.

  • They don't clear by a length and 1/2.

  • But, Mr Fisheries, too good.

  • Mr.

  • Fisher is a horse I love who you feel.

  • You're quite mindful of him last year, conserving him, knowing that he'd probably be a better chaser and just looking at him, he shows to retain plenty of speed.

  • But I don't know where you're gonna run him.

  • Would you be tempted by the are clover?

  • You stick with the mark.

  • Well, the ground isn't going to be much different.

  • One wouldn't think between either day.

  • It's going to be.

  • It'll be one or the other.

  • If it was very soft, you might.

  • He is a better horse on the ground.

  • There's no doubt he has speed, but for that he needs good ground.

  • Um, he stayed two and 1/2 round shelter room.

  • There's one over to around Augusta, So he's He's versatile.

  • I can't help feeling to know house better.

  • I mean, what I'd really like is two and 1/2 on go ground.

  • I think we might just have a look see.

  • I mean, I don't think the ark or looks if there's anything blatantly obvious, innit?

  • I mean, 14 and things like that spectacular to see him back.

  • And that would be amazing if you could get it.

  • How old is he?

  • 11 proof, Um, to come in with a narco.

  • Um, but yeah, I don't know.

  • I got nothing comes to mind, but my mind's pretty sort of shorter memories I've probably forgotten something very obvious that's going to win the article, but it's not as if there's anything I can take off this division's Don't overly strong possibly doesn't.

  • So we might win, Mr Fisher.

  • We might just be looking.

  • Seeing which actually we think is the is the easier division.

  • Jump is A ls that you said the R S A.

  • And obviously last time we saw him, he he did fall at Cheltenham.

  • And since then you've been trying to find an opportunity.

  • But the weather is put paid to that.

  • So what you're gonna do, he's going to go to a racecourse and jumps offenses because I think it'll just doing good to do that before.

  • But jumping is pretty good in the main issue is a bit is that was just I don't know, you know, anybody could do it.

  • That it was just It was horrible.

  • It wasn't a nice forward either, but he's been all right.

  • He school very well here.

  • So, um, you know, I'd like him to go and jumps inventions on a race Kosher.

  • We'll do that.

  • And then you you know, he's done everything right so far, but we haven't even bean three miles with him over fences yet.

  • And I don't didn't want to either.

  • I kind of feel like that was always the plan.

  • That was always the plan.

  • I mean, we found out last year, ran him in the body more last year.

  • Um, on to be fair, I got it wrong.

  • I should have run him in the Albert Bartlett because you went to entry over three miles and there's no doubt that helped him a lot.

  • So we know he gets three, Um, on dhe e genuinely stays, but rather sort of kept that up us leave for hear those three miles not be stations.

  • They could be tough on horse, especially in background.

  • So we've kept him at two and 1/2 on purpose.

  • He's perfectly capable, its own half beaten everything that's put in front of him, and he was going to win pretty comfortable.

  • One thought at Cheltenham when he fell.

  • So, you know, I expect the step up to three to help him.

  • Um, and these confidence will be back and he's been really good so far home.

  • So I say we just went toe puts the finishing touches to that and make sure he's happy on the day misfortune of fallen Chalem the last day before that, things have gone pretty well at Newbury.

  • He takes all the fun fences.

  • He's hopefully going to grow in various course school somewhere before the festival.

  • And hopefully that'll do his confidence.

  • Or really good.

  • No, he's a pretty exciting arsenal for it.

  • Generally, he jumps really well.

  • Yeah, you know, he's You could say that he was a little bit of a slow Think Kurt chucked them, you know, on the's things happened.

  • A novice.

  • Yes, unfortunately, hopefully have learned from his mistakes, and hopefully it won't do it again.

  • Um, you know, you'd have to say on on this harder for him and his two chairs before he fell.

  • That he looks, he looks the one in the rs.

  • And if the job's well, hopefully to oblivion And with him, Yeah, he looks a stare, you know, he looks the horse that, you know, we probably if you were doing it again, you know, he was second in the body.

  • More anything.

  • Maybe we you know, we couldn't be around him and in the Albert Bartlett might have suited him better, but he went and wanted in two or three miles.

  • And he looks that staying is his forte at the moment, um, to win rs air arrests of that statue has to has to be able to stay.

  • But he's not like any gears either.

  • No, no, I mean, is winds were over two and 1/2 miles at Newbury.

  • And, you know, that was just that was just a kiss off the rest of their to sodomy.

  • Probably is a slight preference for going left hand and knew it was the right place from Tau to start off on the need a wrist after his own and obviously, fella Children.

  • So it was just the way the races were.

  • You know, the spacing of the rest is kind of sort of more than trip, Did you know?

  • But I don't think I think seven opentable bring improvement.

  • You know, I think you'd be better.

  • Arsenic was further.

  • The last horse that everybody will want me to mention because he's unbeaten so far is a young, exciting horses chartering house.

  • Can you tell us any plans for him?

  • I can't Really.

  • I think you know what I need to talk to J.

  • P and the team because he has brother John.

  • That one.

  • It's, um ask it on Saturday, over two and 1/2.

  • Um, no doubt.

  • Hugh, come integrate my first reaction with chance.

  • Yes.

  • I must admit it, newbie.

  • When I walked off the stands with a P, and actually, I think the source would be would be a better horse with another half a mile.

  • But it was, you know, obviously they might well want to split these up.

  • He's won over, too.

  • But then he has to bump into shit skin, which is another.

  • I don't know this and good horses, You know, we've got four or five in each, so there's plenty of others that would run in the in the Ballymore anyway.

  • But I'm sure your stay, but he's not a bad horse over two miles.

  • Yeah, he looks an athlete.

  • You know, He was very impressive.

  • And his novice orders very impressive, newbie.

  • The last day jobs travels seems have speed and stamina, you know?

  • So he has the options of both races, But you can ask.

  • I'm sure the trainer doesn't know.

  • The owner probably doesn't know, you know.

  • So you got to do what's right.

  • Try and find the right the right race for the horse and see which one suits of best.

  • You know, there's obviously a few others.

  • Don't be trying to sort.

  • This is for his love.
