  • All right, Dana, who do we have on this?

  • I'm really excited about this.

  • I've been excited about this all morning.

  • Okay.

  • Cops, criminals and comedy.

  • That's what Mark Wahlberg's new movies about.

  • And he joins us live to tell us all about his new movie.

  • Spencer Confidential.

  • First of all, I want to thank you so much for waking up early to talk to us.

  • But we've all heard that you have a very rigorous early morning routine.

  • So you've probably been up since 2 a.m. Is that right?

  • I know I slept in today.

  • We're going to 45.

  • Yeah.

  • No, You know, we've seen you work out.

  • I saw you work out with James Corden.

  • We've seen the inside of your gym This in this movie in Spencer Confidential.

  • You play an ex cop and an ex kind, and it's being kind of called an action packed thriller.

  • Do you have to prepare more for this, or is your normal routine enough?

  • Um, well, you know, Pete Berg and I.

  • This is our fifth film together.

  • The 1st 3 we did on ah was based on real life tragedies.

  • And the fourth film was also very serious and tone.

  • So Pete wanted me to be in specific shape for this movie, which meant me, you know, doing a five month program with no wine, really clean eating, even though every single day after we shot people like, Okay, let's just have one glass of wine, one bottle and there's pasta and everything else.

  • So you know, I didn't succumb to his temptation, but I did.

  • I did spend a little bit extra time being discipline and prepared for the film's good for.

  • You know, this movie was shot in Boston.

  • Was that nice for you?

  • Was it a bit of a homecoming for you?

  • Uh, you know, sometimes it's a little weird.

  • They're they're pros and cons to shooting at home.

  • But you know, for us in this particular film, creating a lot of jobs would also shooting not only in and around my neighborhood, but literally on my childhood street directly across the street from my childhood home.

  • Um, so it brought back a lot of memories and also seeing kids in the neighborhood are realizing that not only am I from there but, you know that if I could go on accomplish my goals that there isn't anything they can't do without, you know, as long as they're willing to put the work in.

  • And, um you know, uh, so that was That was very inspiring.

  • Oh, that's a great story.

  • I'm glad you told us that.

  • Let's go ahead and take a look at a clip from Spencer Confidential cause I want to ask you about the cast.

  • So here's a clip.

  • Does it feel getting that I haven't slept in a few nights?

  • How you do it?

  • Sweet.

  • We just want to let you know how important it isn't it, not a Boston and never come back way Have a going away miss for me Well, it can't be from the guys in here.

  • They like me, right?

  • So who's sending the message so so good?

  • I want to ask you something.

  • Amazing cast.

  • It's Alan Arkin, Post Malone You just saw there.

  • How was Post Malone during the acting scenes?

  • And I heard that you gave him a bit of advice about tattoos.

  • Is that true?

  • I did tell him that one day he'll want to get those tattoos removed, and they're gonna be extremely painful left off his face and he continues to add tattoos to his face.

  • But he and I were friends.

  • He had expressed interest in making a movie.

  • We're hanging out one night in my house and I told them that I had a part for him.

  • Ah, having never acted before.

  • He did an amazing job.

  • It was funny because Pete was really nervous because he had never met him.

  • And not only did we give him a part, we actually combined two rolls to give them something a little bit more meaty and, ah, and the day he showed up, Pete was terribly nervous.

  • But he did an amazing job, and I think he has a great acting career ahead of him.

  • Good for you.

  • I also read that you took your kids to a tattoo parlor to show them how painful it would be so they might not take that route.

  • Also, I was think about doing the same thing with my kids.

  • Yeah, I didn't take him to a tattoo parlor.

  • I took them to the tattoo removal, getting on my tattoos removed.

  • So I I told Post I had I had tattoos all around my neck and my shoulders and my leg my back and across my stomach.

  • I had all of them removed on this far more painful to get the remove that it is to get drunk.

  • But I took my kids and they still they won't listen.

  • The post.

  • It's one of those things where they they have to figure it out themselves.

  • And I wouldn't listen when I was 19 and 20 years old getting the tattoos myself.

  • So really good point.

  • I have to ask you really quick.

  • About what?

  • If you're really, really good friends.

  • Tom Brady rumors he could possibly end up here.

  • Do you have any insight on that?

  • And wouldn't it be great if he did come here and you guys could hang out all the time?

  • I would love for him to do whatever is best for him off.

  • That means staying in New England.

  • That means coming to L.

  • A and playing for the Chargers.

  • Whatever he does, I support him completely.

  • Of course, if he did come out here, would take advantage of that and play lots of golf at Riviera and hang out.

  • But I don't I really don't know what he's gonna do.

  • Would you root for the Chargers and he was out here.

  • Oh, yeah, I would root for that.

  • I would root for the Chargers for Tom and also be able to root for doing that.

  • It's great because, look, I live in L.

  • A.

  • I've lived here for 20 some odd years.

  • I'm a Celtics fan, but I love LeBron.

  • I love a lot of the guys that play on the team.

  • So I love seeing that rivalry back together so I can root for multiple teams.

  • Obviously, ultimately, I would love to see my guys win.

  • But my guy also includes, you know, my friends who play for other teams.

  • Very good answer.

  • Diplomatic Mark.

  • Thank you so much for joining us this morning.

  • The movie looks great.

  • You guys can see Spencer Confidential.

  • It drops on Netflix this Friday, March 6 were so excited.

  • Thank you again, Mark.

  • Nice talking, Thio.

  • Thanks, guys.

  • Thank you so much.

  • I love him and that's looks great.

  • Yeah, And the story about getting all of his tattoos removed.

  • I had no idea.

  • I think that he had a mall and removed, you know, I mean, on his neck, too, is apparently really, really.

  • And I love that he was giving advice, but he's like he's not listening, right?

  • Nobody's listening.
