  • so we will start the conversation this evening by speaking about livable because it's the best 38 game run in Premier League history at West.

  • Why don't we start with you?

  • Because there's been lots of comparisons Thio teams of seventies and the eighties and questions about whether or not it's the best Liverpool side.

  • I thought you might be the best place to run the table to give us some historic insight.

  • The I'm always I'm always in here is I always think if you do in your ear, you do in your ear.

  • It's very hard to match people just like heavyweight champions of the world.

  • You just got to make sure you're the best in your era and that live in the Liverpool in the seventies.

  • We feel Thompson and Doug elation and that lot.

  • I mean, Alan Kennedy was a phenomenal football, saying Terry McDermott and to win the champions the European Cup in them days, which the European Cup is beyond, this was a lot harder to win, you know, you had a bad 45 minutes, you're out.

  • You know you've got remember.

  • Liverpool lost more games in last year's Champions League than what they did in the league and won the Champions League and didn't win the Premier League.

  • So, you know, for May, this is a phenomenal football team that I don't think it's a lot of credit.

  • Not as much as what should I think?

  • Some people go out.

  • Man City haven't done well this season.

  • This teams have very good saying that I'm a great lover of their manager.

  • I think their manager I could use any team here.

  • But I'm just going to say robbery.

  • I think he could go to rob him and take him to the Premier League in time.

  • I think he's that good.

  • I think he's a manager that gets the right players in their player right way.

  • They haven't got household names in the midfield like Henderson around the yard.

  • When you held him for me now for me Oh, sorry, but if you if them free, don't play, I don't think it works.

  • But you go on about the front, freeing the fullbacks and that scent rafts and the goalie.

  • But the free and midfield with ones that make the fullbacks go the full facts.

  • We got a lot of those players old I have become.

  • You know, if you look at Saleh Marnie, they're becoming household names as well.

  • They weren't household names when they were signed, because it's not because of how well their coach Yeah, like Robertson bought Trent Alexander Arnold in Van Dyke got me wrong.

  • Everyone talked about it in a top player, but Celtic Southampton.

  • And now we have one.

  • Looks like that thing that you could take because he gets players and he goes and they don't have to be out.

  • So, you know, I used hip Guardia.

  • I don't know Pep Guardiola's records.

  • Great.

  • Don't get me wrong, but every player's £80 million in every position and 90 £100 million.70 £80 million place.

  • I haven't seen anybody at Man City become much, much better.

  • They were already great players.

  • If you know me, I think that is the difference with this Liverpool team.

  • Pep Guardiola goes and spends 700 million, you know he spends probably 150 million ondas two fullbacks clock brings in Robertson, who played a hole with my brother.

  • You know, no one really knew him and Trent Alexander around on the long local lad and Those two are probably the best in Europe right now, but I think in terms of here is it's probably easier to compare this little poor side to the 2005 sides who won the Champions League that side under Steven Gerrard.

  • I didn't do anything the next year.

  • Besides, you know one, the champions dig and as I said earlier, hungry to go to go again, go again.

  • They'll probably end up, you know, possibly in the final this year and you know they're going to go on and win the league this year.

  • So I think that's what sets them apart.

  • The fact that their coach has made them the best players which probably another coach wouldn't be able to do.

  • But they've gone again after a success.

  • But that's the thing that got me going again and again and again.

  • I think that match the team's greatness.

  • The way you're doing at the moment is phenomenal.

  • Amazing brand of football changed a little bit, too bit more pragmatic at times.

  • It's been some unbelievable performances this season, but other times I watched him against Walls, got the job done but to be the real real greats I'm sure you're quite will be saying, Look, we've done amazing stuff already, but you can see there's no complacency.

  • We want to go again and again, They wanna win this league, smash all the records, but then winning it back to back and stuff like that.

  • Well, then elevate them to be interesting as the season goes on.

  • Because if they're still I'm being, you know, you got got the Chapmans lead to come.

  • You've got the Chapmans, They they're in a position.

  • They're gonna be in an unbelievable position, like Man City will be to rest players like we were unfortunate in this country, you know, P s G or prevent a sort of a Champions League game Wednesday, They probably won't even have a game the weekend or there have one of the weakest teams in the league on the Friday.

  • That's what makes me start to the season even back.

  • Yeah.

  • I mean, this is phenomenal and you watch them against top than the other day, that one new up and they're still bombing forward.

  • They have it in their makeup to just keep one going.

  • They're not a team.

  • And what they could do that could defend, you know, that could defend that could lead to be two at the back with Van Dyke and Gomez and just say we can cope on Gwen.

  • You can defend like that.

  • You're always gonna dictate football matches is invested heavily.

  • Hey has obviously bringing on placing on coaching the B s spending money, but he's done it in a wise way.

  • Has any recouping the money that they brought in for continued?

  • Yes, selling Cotino having a profile on going right now.

  • I'm gonna go and get Alison are gonna get Van Dyke every sign and, uh, for being, you know, in midfield.

  • Kato.

  • Some of them.

  • Yeah, but some of them took a little bit of time.

  • Thio, get up to the level of what you wanted.

  • Oxlade Chamberlain.

  • I thought that was a fantastic.

  • So I know we've had a few injuries, but he's looked at the profile.

  • He's blending them into the way he's doing.

  • It kept that hunger kept evolving, evolving.

  • But I agree with you.

  • Mercy.

  • Well, like Milner Onda Henderson, the way they're they're in there as well.

  • It's just a lovely, lovely balance.

  • Listen to this for it.

  • For 12 months.

  • So they've won.

  • The Champions League club woke up the Super Couples well on potentially the Premier League.

  • That will beall within 12 months and, like you say with congested fixture list that they've got as well, it just makes you know the weird thing is, yeah, like all them records and everything.

  • But when next season starts, the bookmakers will make both teams heads or tails.

  • They're making heads hotels.

  • Why Liverpool not favorites to win the Champions League?

  • They've lost in the final, and they've won the final Man.

  • See, you haven't even looked like winning and their favorites to win the Czech music.

  • And that's where I don't think they get the respect that they should get.

  • This is the This is the best team in Europe by a distance at the moment.

  • By by a long, long way, they just don't get this.

  • I don't still don't think they get the respect.

  • I really don't tell us a little bit about this mentality that they young clockwise mint mentality monsters isn't any.

  • It's not just necessarily from the manager right.

  • The players have to buy into a love this as well.

  • There's a confidence with them, they just even when they're not playing at their best.

  • That you said Matt, they're finding ways to win, but they're always believing that they'll get the job done eventually.

  • Yeah, I think I just see it a level of confidence in the group within themselves.

  • And even when you look at interviews, you know you look a Trent Alexander on order.

  • Robertson.

  • You almost want them to say We're gonna win the league but they're so humble, they're so sort off, No game by game and you can see the manager's drilled that into them.

  • That mentality of look, we had seven.

  • We had seven point lead last year.

  • We lost it.

  • They're very humble in their very kind of their work ethic.

  • You look at the front three how they work, they're always working back, winning the ball back on.

  • That sets them off for their counterattacks.

  • I love that the mentality towards the group, I think, is what you can see in Liverpool and it's not what a lot of other teams have.

  • You know they have top players and but I think they're always working for the group.

  • Femenia works back.

  • Sailor works back money works back, and then you've obviously got that midfield three who were like servants of those three from.

  • So I think the mentality of the group is what sets them apart.

  • You don't feel either do that there are any We might not be privy to it, but any huge egos that are kind of overshadowing or causing any problems.

  • At the moment, there was a little bit of a ding dong.

  • At one point between salary away healthy, they seemed to sort out behind closed doors.

  • But how difficult is that?

  • You must have worked with amigos in your time, huh?

  • You know what I think again?

  • You can see that the manager is not only his profile plays in the way that you know what they fit with a physicality in the style of play.

  • But it's also got people that'll fit into into that team spirit into that chemistry, if you like, of the group.

  • So the plays that you know, I'm still hungry and go in there and wanted to prove stuff, So, yeah, I've been ingesting moves where they've been.

  • I won't name names that have been some pretty big names and amigos, but even when there were clashes off the pitch on the pitch.

  • Everybody was always united and any scent is a riel belief, a process to what they do.

  • They work hard, the buying and that will strike fear into opposition.

  • Liverpool now carry a really, really fear about what they do because they'll keep going right to the end.

  • I got that belief but it seems to be gained by game.

  • Doesn't it annoy you?

  • If you want to beat Liverpool, you've got to get to gold or free girls because they score goals.

  • They don't go to park the bus, they go and never go on.

  • They score goals and if you want to be on, I said a long time ago, I don't see him.

  • I could only see really Man City baiting him, I really can.

  • That's the only time I can see beating.

  • I don't see any of the lesser teams be in.

  • Liverpool isn't The only difference is that belief is that quality what, like they have got the goals in them, Don't you know they're not going to go go to a place and get beat one nil because they'll score goals and I think That's the thing with them.

  • I played in a team years ago.

  • I was lucky enough to play on a team.

  • We would win one new every week.

  • How thing was we score a goal.

  • When we got back to the off, you could see the other team would be.

  • It was like We ain't getting two goals.

  • This game's finished.

  • It's the same re Liverpool virtue before they start the game.

  • Teams are going out with the thing off.

  • We gotta get your free goals is to get results City.

  • You've got a better goal difference.

so we will start the conversation this evening by speaking about livable because it's the best 38 game run in Premier League history at West.
