  • Corona Viruses right here in Southwest Florida, NBC to has just confirmed the first presumptive positive case of Copan 19 in Charlotte County.

  • The patient is a woman in her fifties who recently traveled to the Egypt Israel region will have more on that in just a second.

  • But first we want to bring you up to speed on how the Corona virus got toe Lee County.

  • So here we go.

  • The virus killed a woman in her seventies at Gulf Coast Medical Center.

  • We know that she traveled to the Dominican Republic when the other people involved is an isolation in the Lee health system.

  • About 30 employees were considered medium to high risk for that virus they haven't advised to self quarantine.

  • Good evening, guys.

  • I'm a Gulf Coast medical Center where one patient is in isolation, being treated for Cove in 19.

  • Right now.

  • Now, this is one of two confirmed cases here in Lee County.

  • The other patient died here at this same hospital, and tonight we're getting you answers about the timeline for these cases three days ago to patients went into a Lee County E.

  • R with Corona virus symptoms.

  • Patients arrived in the emergency department of Gulf Coast Medical Center on Wednesday around noon with symptoms of severe respiratory distress.

  • Just one day later, on Thursday morning, one of those patients died.

  • Lee Health confirms that was a 70 year old woman.

  • We are truly said.

  • They say the second patient is also elderly with underlying health conditions.

  • Way no.

  • The woman who died had just returned from international travel, but health officials won't say who she is, where she went or if those two patients are related.

  • The Florida Department of Health is investigating their travel history and opportunities for exposure.

  • They did confirm the patient who died has been here for a while, before getting treatment.

  • The family, who didn't travel back had been back for more than a week before presenting.

  • Both patients were tested locally.

  • The test is performed here.

  • It's a standard nasal swab, and those tests were sent to Miami to one of about seven CDC labs for there to make sure you get a presumptive positive results were confirmed on Friday.

  • Lee Health says no one else has been showing symptoms, but there is a list of people who might have come into contact with the patients.

  • At Gulf Coast Medical Center, we have around 3 30 people or potential medium or high risk exposures that CDC suggests those people quarantine themselves for 14 days employees, medical staff and others who have come in contact with either.

  • The confirmed cases are being evaluated now.

  • We don't know how many other people have come into contact with these patients outside of the hospital, but Lee Health is still calling this a low risk to the community.

  • They tell us the state Department of Health is investigating this further.
