  • What's up, guys Drew chain smokers Anything mean in the comment section?

  • Because this is my first YouTube tutorial.

  • I've been doing a bunch on Snapchat If you guys follow us, I've been doing breaking down like a couple sounds that we made in our songs that you guys like, if you guys hear something, one of our songs, you want to know how we made his own Snapchat Twitter and we'll try editorial today I'm gonna show you How did the chords in Rose's, which a lot people have asked me about and they're really simple.

  • I'm excited to show you how I did them.

  • So obviously, if you've heard the song Roses, uh, I'm gonna show you how to make this part.

  • So there's actually a couple sounds and the layers are what make this really special.

  • I'm gonna take everything off of it off of, like the group that I have All of these sounds in say all that shit I'm not even using No, it's uneven.

  • Even there addresses gonna confuse people.

  • So I have about four sounds.

  • They're making up the main Like all these cords.

  • The main one is obviously this one.

  • What makes us really don't obviously like the chords like if you're even play this on a piano, let's just boss touted next this piano, this nexus grand pianos Just chill bumps, you know?

  • So I wrote those.

  • I actually wrote those on this since, let's break it down.

  • I made them so I was a preset that I need in silence.

  • So silent has basically 44 oscillators that you can use.

  • As you can see.

  • There's one part and this one in part B and then the filters over here you can use to count except together on then they're also controlled like the velocity over here is controlled by this.

  • I don't know what this thing is called.

  • Have his envelope?

  • Yes.

  • And this altar controls the cutoff envelope, which basically control the harshness of the sound.

  • So some of the basics there's also later one.

  • It's white noise.

  • Without it, the voices, they're basically giving you no power to that also later in the center.

  • So I was not articulate enough with the main actual chord sound.

  • So Theo, second saw also later here and then e I had a two ways is on this square also.

  • Wait over here, which is one octave below that one.

  • So without this, it's Joni Adam back in it, and then this.

  • You're adding voices.

  • I'm basically adding more layers.

  • That's like the women's way to describe it.

  • So here four sounds like it's full bodied enough.

  • So that spike where I stood and I added this one, um, voice to this white noise also later over here, which gives it that really Chris.

  • But Theo really like the Christmas?

  • Um, that alone is just so that alone is just so little like things like that at a lot too.

  • Um, basically, the presence of the sound in the mix.

  • Oh, that eq u.

  • I turned the trouble frequency a pretty high.

  • This will just adult Christmas to the sound says you can hear without the reverb human compressor on.

  • It's pretty tight in choppy, but it gets five.

  • You want to see you, Theo Compressor kind of cuts off the harshness of the high end river bad, that nice like spatial tale and, you know, throws that sound into space on the E Q.

  • Just kind of.

  • I use it to christen up a sound.

  • So that's that one sound So that's honestly the majority of the sound, the results of this airway base that I have playing a different melody.

  • I mean this in massive, as you could see, if just one simple like sign square also later pitched down two octaves and see if it did.

  • Yeah, there's a classic tube and dimension expanded.

  • That kind of add some distortion to the sounds was not just a straight sine wave I like to do.

  • I think it adds like personality and whatnot.

  • Then I basically cut off all the high end because that's not really what the sound is made for.

  • And I had a playing a little bit different of a melody.

  • Is he here?

  • So the other melodies going on this was going to go, Dad, Sorry, basically having the ate away base.

  • Do you make a different melody?

  • Kind of elaborate somewhat.

  • The cords are doing and kind of makes you noticed different parts of them.

  • So I was trying to like to switch up the base pattern a little bit so it doesn't follow with, like the lowest note in the court progression is doing.

  • Um, and I also look for the notes that sounds best using that bass instrument, and that's what was in this case.

  • This sound isn't doing much.

  • I usually just added that Add something toe like the mid range base because I felt so much out of the 80 a base.

  • And then I just found this like, weird sounding nexus that's like a siren, and that's just you can barely hear.

  • But when it's all mixed together, it kind of has.

  • This gives it this ringing quality halfway through the drop.

  • So together, Theo, that's all I did sonically.

  • And then, if you're following me on Snapchat, you'll see it.

  • It'll like Snapchat Vittorio using Nikki Romero Kick start again.

  • It's a super basic plug in.

  • I just downloaded eggs.

  • I was curious to see what cable guys in the Camaro would come up with, but it actually came in really useful for this song and begin like a pretty central part of the bounciness of Of Like the Roses.

  • Drop It has is a bunch of like side chained recess presets, so they're basically just like volume envelopes, for the volume will duck according to the curve.

  • It's drawn in this preset, so just the basic one, and this is what gives it like the real bounce.

  • This is just gonna duck automatically on the quarter notes.

  • So with that on this theme you're poking out there, you can hear it kind of poking out of the envelope so that there's a little e cubes taking out a little bit of the mid range, and that's pretty much it.

  • So the drums that z Theo so I'll keep doing work, more tutorials.

  • We're going to do a full expanded tutorial on how we made this entire song drums, vocals, everything and kind of a story behind it with future amusing magazine.

  • But that's not coming out for like, a month or so.

  • So I figured I'd do this tutorial to get things popping for you guys.

  • And if you want to know how we make more of our silent in us up on Twitter Colin any too.

  • I grew up like and taught myself to produce like off YouTube tutorials.

  • I figure it's about time I give back to people how we make our music.

  • So yeah, I'm just trying to be as helpful for you guys as possible, but I think the more music that's out there, the better the whole scene will get.

  • So give me All of you guys have questions, Falls on Snapchat If you want to see more tutorials, just the chain smokers fall some all our social media Instagram Twitter Whichever's wants it to everybody If your honor you to page, you probably already know that.

  • But if not you go instead of those They're so business helpful.
