  • Now, in the last episode, off this the worst tech off the last decade, we spoke about the GT 10 30 DDR four version, and I said it was pretty much the most pointless graphics card to come out of the last 10 years.

  • Well, today we're discussing CP use.

  • So what makes a bad CPU?

  • Well, take, for example, the aim, the FX series or the first generation, A p u lar no lineup.

  • Somebody consider those bad CB use.

  • But in my opinion, they all served a purpose at their respective price point.

  • They were cheap, especially the a 4 33 100 for example, and they allowed some of us to get into gaming on practically next to nothing.

  • Budget I, for one, enjoy the A 4 33 100 for a couple of years before I finally had enough money to upgrade other si pues like the Celeron Judy 4 60 a single core to thread it, Cebu from Intel that launched in 2000 and 11 may be considered pretty silly by some, but again it cost about $35 so, for the price it seemed like a suitable chip for anyone who wanted a computer on the cheap, something for every day, browsing purposes.

  • And, of course, on the soccer.

  • It could be upgraded a little later on.

  • Once you had saved a little more money.

  • You know, everything sort of has a place on the market or most things do anyway.

  • But the chip we're talking about today never really quite fit in.

  • And it was unanimously decided by reviewers that it was pointless.

  • I'm talking about the eye.

  • 5 76 40 x Now this is a K B like ex trip that launched in 2017 on DDE for some reason, despite it being on paper on.

  • Okay, performer.

  • It released on the X to 99 or socket L G 2066 motherboards Now to release an eye five on the X 2 99 platform.

  • Bear in mind that these boards cost over £200 or dollars.

  • Even today was a very silly idea, especially when they couldn't even make use of all the features that the board's offered to put it simply if you purchased on I 5 76 40 x or you were getting really was on I 5 76 100 k, which waas at the time a pretty good chip.

  • You were just having to pay more money for a motherboard that supported this cable lake ext.

  • Trip.

  • And it just seemed like a ridiculous idea.

  • The chip supported your channel memory.

  • Yet the X to 90 nine motherboards offered support for quite channel memory with better CPU use.

  • This was on I 5 76 100 k that had been slightly over clocked from the factory.

  • It had a higher TDP on Intel decided that you should purchase a $250 plus motherboard in order to use it.

  • Why now?

  • To some enthusiasts or some people who just wanted an expensive toy to mess around with, baby, it was worth buying.

  • I mean, I look at the price of these today and think, perhaps I'll get one to mess around with.

  • You know, it only has four cause and four threads, but as a little toy or something to play with in my spare time, it it could be a little bit of fun.

  • And then I look at the motherboard prices and see that they still cost at least £200 here in the U.

  • K.

  • It just makes zero sense Justus much so today as it did back then.

  • In fact, this chip was discontinued by Intel just a year after releasing.

  • I love these sorts of videos.

  • I get to run a little bit, as I was saying before this chick got discontinued by Intel a little while later because it was pretty much made obsolete by the release of the eight Jen chips.

  • For example, the ice 7 87 100 K, which was an enthusiast's dream on a motherboard that actually made a little bit of sense, you know, or a lot of sense if you wanted the best trip for the money back then you buy Nice 7 87 100 K as well as a top to your motherboard and be done with it.

  • The eye 5 76 40 except at a weird place on the market.

  • It wasn't bad.

  • Okay, I'm not saying it was a bad CPU.

  • It was just absolutely pointless.

  • As far as I am concerned on DDE that facts could not remain more true to this day.

  • You can still buy these chips and you can still buy these motherboards, but my advice would be Don't unless you want something to play around with in your spare time and something that you may want to over clock.

  • Just out of curiosity, I wouldn't call the eye 5 76 40 x the worst trip of the last decade, but I'm pretty sure it's a strong contender for one of the most pointless, of course, on the platform.

  • You also had the ice 7 77 40 X, for example, which was pretty much a repackaged 7700 K that even then I don't think that was as pointless as the high five.

  • You know, for a very small niche market, it's strong.

  • Single call performance may have persuaded some to purchase it, though.

  • Again the 7700 k would have been an equally fantastic choice.

  • And you can just go once again for a treat percent to 70 bold and have a fantastic time in both CPU intensive tasks on gaming.

  • So I'm gonna wrap it up.

  • Thank you for watching this video.

  • I would like to summarize that the eye 5 76 40 X is a strong contender for the most pointless CPU off the last decade.

  • Let me know what you think in the comments below.

  • Maybe you have won and I've upset you.

  • In which case I'm sorry.

  • I think alike on this video.

  • If you enjoyed it, leave it.

  • It's like if you didn't subscribe to the channel if you haven't done so already, have a very happy holiday and a fantastic new year.

  • If I don't see you before December, the 31st and as always I hope to see all of you in the next video.
