  • - We're Rhett and Link.

  • - And this is everything we do in a day.

  • [upbeat hip-hop music]

  • [dings]

  • - I wake up at 5:50.

  • [computer keys clicking]

  • - Ooh, I wake up at 5:20.

  • - Ho ho, okay.

  • - We both live in L.A., close enough to each other

  • that if we yelled out of our front door,

  • we wouldn't hear each other.

  • - But maybe potentially an air horn, like a really, really.

  • - Air horn would do it.

  • - My particular alarm is one of the

  • standard ones on the iPhone.

  • - I use the Sleep app.

  • It goes from not being hardly anything

  • to then getting louder and louder.

  • - I've done that from time to time.

  • That's very nice.

  • The very first thing that I do

  • is I go, next to my bed I lay on the floor.

  • My dog Barbara comes and gets on top of me,

  • licks my face a little bit, and then she hops

  • back up in the bed with my wife,

  • and then I proceed to do a 22-minute long stretching routine

  • that I have to do in order to maintain back health.

  • It's sexy.

  • - First thing I do, I take way too long

  • to put my contact lenses in.

  • Sometimes I have to put them in twice

  • 'cause I just feel like there's something under there.

  • I put on my clothing, I brush my teeth,

  • I put on my bandana, and I go to the gym.

  • [computer keys clicking]

  • I go to the gym from 6:00 to 7:00.

  • My gym's like six minutes from my house,

  • so I go to the gym and when I'm done working out,

  • I come back home and I finish getting ready.

  • - My gym is exactly halfway to work.

  • My session at the gym starts at seven, goes til eight.

  • At this point, I'm still very reliant on a trainer.

  • - Poor little Rhett needs a trainer.

  • - You're in a class.

  • You have a trainer and another buddy's alongside you.

  • - My workout consists a lot of readjusting my headband,

  • looking at my watch.

  • - After I work out, I go to the steam room.

  • We have a steam room.

  • - Wow.

  • - And I get out of steam room and I go to the sink.

  • They've got razors, they've got shaving cream,

  • they've got Q-tips, a blow dryer.

  • I break out a good number of products

  • and I'm kind of doing it in a communal place,

  • but nobody seems to mind.

  • - After I've completed my workout, I get back in my car.

  • I kind of lean forward driving home

  • so that I don't get back sweat on the seat.

  • I get home, I bust in the house and I say, Daddy's back!

  • My kids run up and they all give me a hug and a kiss.

  • That's not really true.

  • They're all doing their own thing.

  • Then I go upstairs and I shower and I brush my teeth,

  • take my contacts out, put on my glasses, put on my clothes.

  • I get my nine year old in the car and I take him to school.

  • We have a little conversation about life,

  • and then I drive into work.

  • For most of the way in,

  • I'll listen to a podcast or some music.

  • If I really need to get pumped up,

  • I'll listen to Easy Lover by Phil Collins and the other guy.

  • Can't remember his name.

  • - The other guy, that's an insult.

  • - Yeah.

  • - I typically listen to a podcast or an audiobook.

  • Then I drive the additional 12 minutes to the office

  • where Link, my good friend, is waiting with open arms.

  • We try to arrive at the office every day at

  • 8:30. - 8:30.

  • - And I get there at 8:43.

  • - Yeah, you do.

  • - So we have a writer and a producer who are both assigned

  • to an individual episode of Good Mythical Morning,

  • and they kinda come in and say, all right,

  • just to remind you, this is what

  • we're going to be doing today.

  • - They'll talk to us for about 10 minutes.

  • We'll listen for about 5 minutes.

  • By 9:00, we're usually ready to be behind the desk

  • to film an episode.

  • If there's a stopdown while we're filming

  • Good Mythical Morning, Rhett's typically on this phone.

  • - Checking email, checking Twitter,

  • checking Instagram, checking Reddit, and then starting over.

  • [bubbles popping]

  • Going through them again.

  • - Until they say, hey, come on, let's make this show.

  • Let's keep going.

  • We might hit a second episode if we need to go

  • into another one, and that puts us at what?

  • - I mean, usually lunch is say, a typical day around noon.

  • We like to get it a little bit early.

  • It's a stressful point in our day when you're like.

  • - Picking your lunch is hard being a dude.

  • - Ah, I need to think of something else,

  • but ah, I gotta figure out what I"m gonna eat.

  • I wish it was just like it was back in the day

  • at Buies Creek Elementary School,

  • when I just looked at the day and they were like,

  • you're having scary spaghetti today,

  • because it's almost Halloween.

  • [witch cackling]

  • We very rarely go out for lunch anymore, it's usually.

  • - We're not allowed to leave the office for lunch.

  • - Usually it's like, all right, lunch is in your office

  • and Stevie's also in your office and you have a meeting.

  • [chuckles]

  • - After lunch, there's probably some other meeting

  • [computer keys clicking]

  • that moves Good Mythical Morning forward,

  • when the ideas for the next episodes that we're filming

  • are pitched to us.

  • - And then usually there is another kind of meeting

  • of some sort and it isn't uncommon

  • to also step into our Ear Biscuits studio,

  • our podcast studio, and record an episode of the podcast,

  • and that takes about an hour and a half

  • because we got to read some ads.

  • [cash register rings]

  • - I try to leave work at six o'clock every day.

  • - I usually have a couple little things

  • that I'm wrapping up.

  • - Yeah, and I'm out the door.

  • - So I'd say 6:10, 6:15.

  • - When I walk in the front door, my dog Jade

  • and my nine year old Lando, they both run up to me

  • and give me a hug.

  • - My family is very unpredictable.

  • Sometimes they're not even there,

  • and I don't know where they're at.

  • - I never cook in my house,

  • [computer keys clicking]

  • because everyone in my house is too smart for that.

  • It would be catastrophic.

  • I'm a great cleaner, though.

  • I just will say that.

  • Usually my wife has made my oldest daughter,

  • she likes to cook as well

  • and that's usually like 7:00, 7:15.

  • - There is no predictable time

  • when the McLaughlins are going to eat.

  • It might be right when I get there, it might be 9:30.

  • I love to cook, but I'd say at this point

  • we're like 50% home cooked meal, 50% delivery.

  • - My older kids stay up later than I do.

  • - My kids just do whatever they want to.

  • They're basically just raising themselves.

  • - I go to bed at like 9:00, 9:30,

  • and then I'll just try to read a book

  • as opposed to being on Reddit, which means I'm on Reddit.

  • - We like to watch the Goldbergs together,

  • so that's a nice family thing,

  • and what ends up happening to me is

  • I fall asleep before it's over

  • and not because I don't like it, just because I'm tired

  • and I gotta get up early.

  • - And then I go to sleep by like 9:45, 10:00.

  • I wear boxers and a t-shirt, don't tell me you're naked.

  • Don't tell them you're naked.

  • - It just depends on what mood I'm in.

  • I have a white noise machine that is basically required

  • for me to sleep at this point.

  • - I'm a pretty heavy sleeper.

  • My head hits that pillow, my mouth open,

  • and then you know I'm out,

  • and then the process starts all over again.

  • We're Rhett and Link.

  • - And that was everything that we do in a day.

- We're Rhett and Link.
