  • Hey, Charles.

  • It's cool to meet you.

  • It's very cool to meet you.

  • We almost met a long time ago--

  • Where?

  • But I didn't have--

  • the Stand Up To Cancer event.

  • Uh huh.

  • And I didn't know if you were in a good mood or a bad mood,

  • so I was scared to walk up to you.

  • Uh huh.

  • I'm always in a good mood.

  • Yeah, OK.

  • This is really cool for me.

  • I've been a big fan.

  • And when they said I was coming on here,

  • thank you for having me.

  • Oh, thanks so much.

  • I can't believe you-- this is the first time.

  • I don't know why.

  • Yeah, they always put me on all the guy shows,

  • I want to be on the show with you.

  • Yeah, thanks.

  • You're a lot smarter and funner than those guys.

  • Yeah.

  • Those, guys.

  • I don't know who you're talking about, but yeah!

  • You know we have a tradition here.

  • If it's your first time on the show,

  • we must show shirtless photos of you.

  • It's just what happens.

  • Please be from the 80's.

  • I miss the good old days.

  • Yeah.

  • I miss the good old days, you could take your shirt off

  • in public.

  • Uh huh.

  • I miss the 80's.

  • Yeah.

  • That's so true.

  • Everybody did walk around with no shirt.

  • Especially in the 60's.

  • A lot of people walked around with no shirts.

  • Yeah.

  • I used to walk around without a shirt.

  • It's so bad now, even when I'm home I keep a shirt on.

  • Yeah, is that right?

  • You are so funny.

  • You have strong opinions.

  • You have a relationship with Shaquille, Shaq,

  • that is very interesting.

  • Sometimes, you love him, sometimes you don't.

  • Today, how do you feel about him?

  • I love the big fella.

  • He is-- he's a funny guy.

  • But he's one of those guys, He want to jab you,

  • but he can't take the jab.

  • Uh huh.

  • So, he got thinner skin than Flat Stanley, I tell him.

  • Like, he wants to make fun of you,

  • but you cannot make fun of him.

  • And once I know I got him, I'm just going to keep digging in.

  • Yeah.

  • But you know what?

  • A love the big fella.

  • He's fun to work with.

  • His mom is one of the most important people in my life.

  • His mom and my mom and another lady named Martha Korman,

  • were best friends.

  • And when my mom passed away a couple of years--

  • they were best friends for, like, 30 years.

  • And when my mom passed away a couple of years ago,

  • his mom came and spent her last few days with my mom.

  • That's how long we've been friends.

  • Oh wow.

  • Yeah, but I love giving him a hard time on television.

  • Well, he loves giving you a hard time, too.

  • So he sent us this.

  • Oh, lord.

  • Hey, Chucky, it's your friend Shaq.

  • Have fun with the beautiful, gorgeous Ellen today.

  • Don't worry, she's still going to love me more after the show.

  • And make sure you don't break your chair when you sit on it.

  • Give Ellen a big hug from me, Chuck.

  • Love you, Ellen.

  • I hate you, Chuck.

  • He is so much fun.

  • He's a big teddy bear.

  • Every time he's here, he's fun.

  • So we love him, too.

  • You-- I have to say thank you, because you

  • have been an advocate for LGBTQ rights for a long, long time.

  • Long before many, many people.

  • Years back, you were going to do an NBA all-star game--

  • In Charlotte.

  • In Charlotte.

  • And you were thinking that you should move it,

  • because of the bathroom bills.

  • Well, I hated the bathroom bill, so I went to my boss.

  • I said, hey, boss, I'm going to sit out the all-star game.

  • I don't want to make, you know, I

  • don't want to take away from the all-star game,

  • but I said I'm going to sit out the all-star game.

  • He says, you can't sit out the all-star game.

  • You're our biggest star.

  • I said, well, I got to make a stand against discrimination.

  • He said, let me talk to the NBA.

  • And Adam Silver, who's a great commissioner,

  • moved the game out of Charlotte.

  • And it was a really nice gesture for the NBA,

  • because you know, I think anytime you're black,

  • you've got to stand up for other people.

  • Because you-- black people know what discrimination is like.

  • And if you're in a position of power,

  • you've got to always stand up against discrimination.

  • And I've been blessed, man.

  • And I'm never going to sit back and let discrimination

  • happen on my watch.

  • So true.

  • I mean, that's how I feel about any discrimination at all,

  • any inequality.

  • It's like, you know, for you to think that you-- somehow,

  • they'll never come after you for something, it's just wrong.

  • I want to ask you your opinion on some things,

  • because you have strong opinions, and I found out some.

  • First of all, I know that what would surprise a lot of people

  • is you love vacuum cleaners.

  • You love--

  • It's more like I'm a sucker for infomercials.

  • Like, every time I'm watching television,

  • there's a new, more powerful vacuum cleaner coming out.

  • I have to go get it.

  • Yeah.

  • I do.

  • I gotta have it.

  • They make fun of me at the Home Depot and Lowe's.

  • They're like, what are you doing with all this CLR?

  • And I was like, I scrub my toilet with it all the time.

  • I never want the rings to get in the toilet.

  • Mm-hmm.

  • But any type--

  • I love to clean.

  • All right, well, we know that that's

  • it's a while away before you retire.

  • But you're going to need a lot of cleaning supplies

  • once you retire, to clean.

  • So we got you-- and I'm sure they'll be updated,

  • let's bring out what we have for him right now.

  • We have--

  • This is every vacuum cleaner we've ever

  • given away on the show.

  • Now, you tell me, do you already have all these?

  • I don't see The Shark.

  • OK.

  • We gotta get you The Shark.

  • But that little lazy thing over there, that you let vacuum

  • cleaner yourself, you just lazy if you use that thing.

  • I agree, I agree.

  • You're just lazy.

  • All right.

  • Yeah, I agree.

  • And that's boring to just let that go around.

  • Yeah, I agree.

  • Yeah.

  • All right.

  • I'll tell you what, The Shark Lift-Away is pretty good, too.

  • Yeah?

  • Good.

  • All right, good.

  • Well, those are all yours.

  • Take what you want, leave what you don't want,

  • and I'll take the other ones.

  • All right, one of the commentators on Inside the NBA

  • suggested that we scare you, but we're not going to scare you.

  • This is not the table we scare--

  • but someone, I'm not going to say who,

  • but someone said we should scare you.

  • And we're not going to do it.

  • But we'll tell you who, later.

  • We're going to take a break, and we

  • get to play a game called Five Second Rule when we come back.

  • OK.

  • That'll be fun.

  • All right.

Hey, Charles.
