  • - My name is Andrea Christina Issler-Fisher

  • and I am the Burns Fellow at Concord Hospital.

  • I just always knew that I wanted to do burn surgery.

  • I think my inspiration were my parents,

  • who both have a very meaningful job,

  • and it's very important for me to have a job

  • where I can make a change and make a difference.

  • The skin is the body's largest organ.

  • It's also the connection, obviously,

  • from ourselves to the outside world.

  • It's what people see from the outside.

  • If we actually can change a person's life and help people,

  • and get them back on track, back to their normal lives,

  • that's a very good feeling.

  • It's very exciting to be a member of a team

  • which does treatments which are cutting-edge,

  • and we as a team were able to provide this service

  • to a patient and the first patients came back

  • and say like, "Oh, this was fantastic!"

  • And that was one of the most rewarding moments

  • in my career in the public sector.

  • Ultimately, it's all about

  • the patient's end result and outcome,

  • being in an environment of people trying to achieve

  • something for the greater good, and I believe

  • a lot of people in the public sector

  • have that way of thinking.

  • I like going to work, I like what I'm doing,

  • and I'm passionate about my profession.
