[Sarah:] Hey, if you could get 20 account reviews done by the end of the month, that would be great.

[Alan:] Alright, Sarah, I'll keep that in mind. [Sarah:] Thanks!

[Sarah:] Hey Alan, what's the status of those account reviews?

[Alan:] Oh, I got two of those done for you.

[Sarah:] Why doesn't he follow directions? [Alan:] Why does she always get so mad at me?

[Alan:] How many times has this happened to you?

[Sarah:] If you could get 20 account reviews done by the end of the month, that would be great.

[Sarah:] Vagueness leads to misunderstandings, while specificity leads to success.

So Alan, what could we have done differently? [Alan:] Been more specific.

Be specific and ask for what you want. Or as I like to say, BSaAFWYW!

[Alan:] Instead of saying something like, "If you could do X, that would be great..."

say, "Will you please do X, by a deadline?"

[Sarah:] Then I'll respond either "yes" or "no" because I'm clear about the expectations.

Here's your challenge: The next time you have to assign a task, remember...
